I find the staff to be great and the music to be unique and relaxing! Every time I go in we are greeted by the owner Lauren or his wife or another employee. The whole staff is friendly and willing to do whatever they can to make your visit efficient and pleasant. Indeed, why would I go out of my way to write a review for a convenience store otherwise? Finally, in addition to staples like milk and medicine they have fruit, chips, hot chocolate, coffee, etc. and--if you're into it--a huge selection of craft beer including a lot of single cans and bottles which people say are hard to find elsewhere. I don't play the lottery generally but they have full CA Lotto services too. So, whatever you're into there's going to be something for you. So, support small businesses and stop in at the Marly Mary where you're likely to hear some reggae as you shop.

A little advice for my fellow retail business owners/managers: empower your staff to solve small…read moreproblems. I stopped at the 7-Eleven at 40981 California Oaks Rd. today because I needed air in my tire. I paid the $1.50 for the air machine--yes, I actually paid for air , only to find out there was no tire pressure gauge on the machine. I went inside, and the manager on duty had to call their boss just to ask if they could refund my $1.50. But honestly, I didn't care about the $1.50. I needed air in my tire. They could have grabbed a tire gauge off the shelf, written it off, let me use it, and then kept it behind the counter for the next person who needs it. When I worked in retail management, I made sure my staff was empowered to handle minor issues without having to call me over a few dollars. If you own or manage a retail store, give your people the authority to make reasonable decisions based n order to keep your patrons coming back. The customer leaves happy, your employee feels trusted to solve problems, and you don't get bothered after hours over $1.50. Sometimes good customer service really is that simple.

Honestly, they should taste their own hot chocolate... or maybe it's just really that bland.

Sometimes you just want a certain amount of a product and that is the best way to go. They have a fresh sushi bar! Unfortunately they are always out of spicy tuna so I haven't gotten sushi there in quite a while. If they had spicy tuna on the shelf I'd buy sushi every time I was shopping there. One thing that I like about the produce department is that they have fresh vegetables. They're vegetables are not inexpensive but they're good and I like that they always have eggplant. I never see artichokes there though. Their fruit department has something left to be desired. The only consistent tasting fruits are apples and oranges. Most of the time their offerings of berries and tomatoes are tasteless or old. That being said, this is still the best place to go for most of your groceries. You will save oodles of money if you shop here on a consistent basis. It's awesome that it's an employee owned company! You would think that would give the employees a better attitude but unfortunately there are not that many smiling faces working there. I wonder what goes on behind the scenes with management. All in all, I sure hope WinCo isn't leaving the area anytime soon. No place is perfect and despite some of the issues they have I would be very sad if I couldn't go shopping there anymore.

No compassion for a customer who regularly drives an hour to get Winco products…read more There are no employees EVER in the store to ask for help, but the second I try to get ice cream I'm stopped by TWO employees. They won't let me open the door for one second to get it due to "freezer issues" I go up front and customer service is closed (at 6p on a Friday?) so I ask checkout for a manager. "Mason" eventually shows up. Mason wouldn't listen to a thing I had to say. He just kept insisting that opening a small door to a 50 foot long freezer for a split second would spoil ALL the ice cream. Thats not how temperature works. I told him I'm a regular customer who drives an hour to get here just for your Winco in cream. He didn't care. I get that he can't open it for every customer while it's off. But they were just starting to barricade the whole freezer. Opening it for me for one second wouldn't hurt anything. But Mason doesn't take care of his customers. I don't think I'll be coming back. I can't drive an hour just to not get what I came for. Especially when the reason is this ridiculous.
