Stay away! For starters, they have removed the "15 items or less" checkout aisles. So Saturday morning, the place was packed. They had two checkouts open. The lines stretched halfway to the back of the store. This is an attempt make you use the auto checkout, which will lead to a reduction in jobs. There has also been a noticeable decline in selection, an effort to force people to by Kroger brands (Kroger owns Ralphs). Add to that the complete disregard for workers. It seems that Ralphs continues to be a source of irritation for me. I shop at this chain because it is hard to find chocolate flavored soy milk. I quit going to the Ralphs in Cypress on Ball Rd because i found too many products on the shelves there which were beyond the best buy and use by dates. I went to the Ralphs on South St this morning. I just happened to notice that my receipt included $14.99 for a magazine that I did not purchase. I called to complain and they insisted that I come back to the store to remove the charge. A bit of a nuisance but they me for more than $15 after taxes. I don't normally review my receipts but I guess i will if I return to this store. It's hard to understand this mistake since all the cashier does is drag things across a scanner. Maybe a software glutch? read more

My first non 5 star review. Been shopping here for years and it's just getting worse every time. The last 5-6 times there's been no one to bag so cashier has to bag and it takes forever. I usually end up helping but feel like I'm at a discount store and don't like it. Most Employees are awesome and nice but I don't like waiting in line so long. I regularly shop at a couple other places but I really, really had to go to the bathroom and they have some well kept bathrooms for such a busy place. After I washed my hands...I gotta say that because I gonna touch all over their produce and I don't want you thinking gross thoughts like, "are there people who don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom and touch all the produce?". Just don't think that OK! Overall they have good produce, decent selection and the customer service is friendly. Good place to shop. Look: This Ralphs has gone through some renovations and looks really good from the outside and the produce areas.Its nice and clean i really like how when you first enter its the fruits and veggies section that you walk into well besides the pharmacy by it heh.The floral section is right be the entrance too so thats kind of a nice welcoming into a grocery store.Beyond the entrance i feel like the set up can be a little confusing for someone that doesn't shop there often because the aisles are long.You would really have to red up on the signs from the front and back of the store beause of the long aisles . Service: I've always thought the employees have always been very nice and helpful even during the holidays when they have to work so thanks for that 4stars!I do get weird looks sometimes when i buy alcohol because "i look young" but thats okay i take it as a compliment. Merchandise/products: They basically have everything you'd need for groceries even organic counter parts to the other stuff.I wish ralphs would have a better carving butchery section thought for me it just feels more fresh when theres a butcher on site might just be me.They do have like a cold cuts for fish and crab but that doesn't seem very fresh to me. The 5 star rating is because of the deli. This Ralph's location has Boar's Head Deli meats and cheeses, which to me is far superior than the Private Selection brand or any other delicatessen. The prices are worth the high quality and craftsmanship. I used to live on the East coast and grew up eating this brand, and was so sad and confused as to why it was not readily available here on the West coast. Great selection of hams, turkeys, and chicken. They also carry cappacola, salami, prosciutto, pastrami, and corned beef. You have to come here the next time you want to have a charcuterie board at your party as you will have a hard time selecting from their cheeses. read more

My favorite generic supermarket, grew up going here. I miss it being open till 2am, but I guess midnight is sufficient. Clean, neat, organized, lots of selections (check out the wine & beer!), great club savings, helpful.. Speaking of helpful, I asked why they no longer stock a certain haagendaz flavor, and since have seen it always fully stocked! That's a good 5years now! Another story, noticed one of the bakery items missing and they said I can always call & request. Best story, in elementary school they gave me a behind the scenes tour for my school project. As much as I love TJ's, sometimes I just want plain old sugar or salt; not the fancy schmancy organic or gourmet ones. So, I find myself at Ralphs once in a while. This is one of the cleanest Ralphs I've been to. Everything is well organized and the staff is friendly. One time, I was checking my lottery ticket on the lottery machine to see if I had won the jackpot. It apparently was not working that day because when I put the ticket in, it spit it right out, but I couldn't catch in time and it slipped right underneath the machine! I could've let it go, but what if it was THE winning ticket?! So, I asked for assistance since I couldn't move the darn thing and this girl stuck her hand underneath the machine (where all the dust and who knows what collect!!). She then took a broom and passed it underneath and got my ticket for me! Anyhoo, I can usually find what I'm looking for at Ralphs and they always have great sales. Why are grocery stores so cheap with their paper bags? Now...I very rarely ask for paper, but today, knowing I'd be lugging the bags from the store to my car, to my office, back to my car and in to the house, I wanted paper. The bagger proceeds to put $25 worth of milk, butter, sugar, cream cheese, chocolate syrup, cake mix, frosting (back up in case the "making from scratch part" doesn't work out), etc in one bag. Didn't even double bag it! Come on! How much do I have to spend to get 2 bags? (I will be sure to update this review if/when my bag rips when I get home tonight.) Yes, this Ralph's has been recently renovated. Square footage wise, it's not a small market, but their selection can be limited. The baking section for example...it seriously had about 3 feet of shelf space for all their cake mixes and frostings. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is convenient, as is the pharmacy (that I don't use). It's usually pretty clean...not the cleanest market, but clean enough. Strangely though, every time I go, whether it be before work, during lunch or after work, there's always someone stocking something in the aisles or produce section. Why is that? Early morning, I understand, but lunch hour and 5pm? Hmmm... Oh...and what's with the cream cheese being in the deli section ALL THE WAY ON THE OTHER SIDE of the dairy section. Literally two opposite walls of the store. Is that where cream cheese is usually stocked? Maybe I just never noticed because most markets I go to have their deli and dairy sections next to each other. Or maybe it just annoyed me more because I'm not usually in a rush to get items for cupcakes during my lunch break like I was today. Sorry Cerritos Ralphs. SCREW. THIS. PLACE. I vowed I wouldn't come back here and I should have kept my word. What with the renovations and all, I figured I could save myself the drive just this once and go half a block to this Ralphs. Nothing has changed. If anything, customer service is worse. EVERYONE has an attitude. 1 - It's 8 pm and the aisles are full of pallets and junk for restocking the store. I get it, I'm not upset about that. What I think is utter crap is the guys with the trolleys, bringing cases of water and dumping it unceremoniously about 1 foot in front of me. When I say dump, I mean dump. He tilted the trolley so that cases scattered everywhere. Didn't utter a word, no "excuse me" or "sorry about that" just dumped that and went back to get more. 2 - Older female workers standing around talking to each other. One of the older male cashiers called out "Hey, girls? I think we need your help bagging." Women gave him a dirty look so he yelled "POR FAVOR!" at them and clapped his hands together. Super awkward. 3 - In line at the older male cashier's spot, he tells me to go to the 15 items or less line. Have way more than 15. He said it's fine. Get to the other line and cashier and bagger roll their eyes and mumble "Does that look like 15 to you?" 3 - one of my items wouldn't ring up. Cashier asked another one of the female workers, "Sorry, do you mind doing a price check for me?" She slammed down what she was holding and grabbed it from him while glaring at him. "Where do I find this?" she asked angrily. I mean seriously. Who has the energy to be that angry over something insignificant? 4 - Those same older female workers get on cart duty outside. LOUDLY talking smack about everyone in the store, customers included. Should have known better. Hate this place. read more

Everything you need in a ralphs, big savings on certain items during coupon days or club card days. The place looks clean, items are neat and organized. The cashiers are usually freindly and competent. They have a cool place to get grinded coffee and a deli area with meats, bread, deserts and cooked food such as fried chicken. Dont ever go here for Raw Food!!! I bought some raw fish to one night and went straight home to cook it. I opened the package and cut the fish in half and left one half in its packaging. after i put the other half on the stove i went to put away the half that was still left over and noticed a little red line coming out of the fish. I stopped and stared at it and realized it was a worm crawling out of the fish. i was so disgusted i threw the partially cooked half away and went back to ralph's that same night to return it. I asked to see a manager and told him i needed to return the fish cause i found worms in it. he not only didnt apologize but acted annoyed that i kept emphasizing that there were worms in it. He didn't even do an inventory check to make sure there werent other spoiled products out for sale!!! read more

I now do most of my shopping at Stater's. The manager stood bored flipping through some folder while his lines grew longer and longer. Once there was some dozen people in line, he went and opened another line. I had looked him DIRECTLY in the eye and shrugged at him indicating "what's going on", but he went back to perusing his binder while we all developed grey hairs and liver spots. Finally opened a register when I had worked my way... painfully slowly through the line. We're not talking about how I got in line behind 8 people with full carts. I was 4th in the EXPRESS Line and it took me 10 minutes of watching him read a binder and the cashier poke through his job of scanning and taking payment. No excuse for that kind of "Who gives a damn." I go there now only for fill in items when I'm in a hurry. I will not reward that sort of indifference and lack of care. read more

I asked for alcohol and BENJAMIN gave the alcohol (from the cage where certain alcohol is locked) to the 40-50 year old dude. I thought he was going to hand me my alcohol but he said "it needs to go to the counter." Why does the older guy get to carry around alcohol and I am about to check out? I have tattoos and was wearing all black. Seemed to me I "look like" I wasn't going to check out. TREAT EVERYONE EQUALLY, NOT BASED ON THEIR LOOKS. Compared to the other Ralphs that I've gone to, this one has to be the cleanest. Plus its close by to my house in a nice area. Plus for the coffee bean they have that the store =) yummo! although one time I went in at 9 and they shut it down, boo. couldn't even get my coffee fix while grocery shop. Whenever I go, there's hardly a line. Or is it that I go late at night when everybody's already shopped and ready for bed? Could be. If you are in the Cerritos area and want to go grocery shopping in a good clean place, then get your coupons ready and go to Ralphs off of South Street and Carmenita. As soon as you enter, you find yourself in the fresh produce section and can easily maneuver into each aisle without being bombarded by shopping carts. The staff are very helpful and friendly, making sure you are able to find what you are looking for. I am a coupon addict, so I make sure to peruse each aisle with my monthly coupons (coupons.com and from the sunday newspaper) and am happy to find that most of my coupons are applicable to the selections provided here. I usually only go to Ralphs when I can't find something I need at Walmart. Their fuel rewards program is pointless unless you purchase at least 100 dollars every month and us Shell gasoline. This is the only Ralphs I've been to that doesn't have a self checkout lane. I asked about why about a month ago, and the lady at the checkout lane said it's because they asked the employees and they all said they didn't want one. What? Since when was it the employee's decision as to whether to open up a self checkout lane which would make it more convenient for their customers. The reason I asked that question is because I was stuck in the express lane, 15 items or less and of course the lane got stuck from a customer who had a problem. So yesterday I needed to go there again to buy ice cream. So I asked the same question again to another checkout lady. This time she said that the store square footage wasn't big enough and they couldn't put a self checkout lane in that store. What? They have all these checkout lanes and half are not being used. And yes, the reason I asked is that a lady held up the line because she wanted to exchange something, went back and got the item she wanted and the checkout lady just had to delay the same customers that were already waiting in line instead of getting them out quickly and taking care of the problem afterwards. I don't think I will ever know the real reason but in my mind I'm thinking cost to remodel. All the other stores are opening up self checkout lanes not just Ralphs, but Walmart in Town Center, Chase Bank, Home Depot, etc. For that customer that just wants to run in the store and buy one or two items and get out quickly, I guess you're just telling him to go and shop elsewhere. Let me preface this by saying that I've been coming here for 5 years now. There are 2 major detractors with this store. The first being the cashiers, they either don't acknowledge your presence and rush you out, or they get attitude when you don't have your Ralph's card. Some people don't like to carry a lot of things. Second is their lack of selection. The produce section is filled with a large percentage of expired or soon-to-be expired things. This is a regular occurrence. A lot of companies have forgotten that the customer is what keeps them in business, and I've decided to start shopping somewhere else. read more

This Ralphs was recently renovated a couple years ago and the interior is pretty nice. The colors and materials they used to spruce up the produce section and the booze section are pretty homey and welcoming. The fact that they actually set up some tables for people who want to eat in the grocery store after they bought something from the deli is nice. They also created a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in this facility near the entrance. This is especially convenient for people who need a caffeine fix as they're in the store. Ironically, the plaza also has a new It's A Grind, so this is direct competition. It's still nice to have one inside the store though. The items here are well-stocked and the employees are helpful. I haven't had a bad experience here or any problems with the quality of the food I buy here. If you utilize the recycling center at the back of the store, you can also redeem your vouchers at this store as well. All in all, it's an attractive store and one of the few remaining non-ethnic grocery stores servicing Cerritos. read more

My experience today at this Ralph's was so great that it compelled me to write a Yelp review! My family recently just bought another home here in Cerritos, and we received a "welcome to the neighborhood" pamphlet from Ralph's. It basically had 8 coupons for free items! and $5 off a $10 purchase! These coupons were awesome, no purchase necessary and literally free. Free dozen roses, Free 8 piece chicken, Free paper towels, Free light bulb, Free bacon, Free orange juice, Free bread, Free M&Ms ... literally approximately $50 worth. And at the cash register I didn't feel like I was jipping the store or anything, the cashier was friendly and congratulated me on the house! read more

This is a smaller Ralph's compared to other Ralph's that I've been to. The selection of things seem smaller too. The only reason I'm giving 1 star is because their salad bar SUCKS. First, it's really limited with not too many selections of toppings at all. Second, the lettuce that they serve is really old and is bad already... Why are they serving old lettuce?? The two pluses to this Ralph's is location and staff. The downsides are that it is easily the worst bakery I have seen in a chain grocery store and the deli selection is pathetic. For me, the location is good and worthy of a quick trip to pick up basics. The staff is very friendly and is focused on customer service. Unfortunately, there is no consistency in the bakery. Buying sandwich rolls is an adventure. You don't know what they will have available and when they do have sandwich or club rolls available you don't know if they are going to be soft, hard, or somewhere in between. Keep in mind that this is comparing them to other offerings so if you are a fan of consistency, this is not the bakery for you. You will have to decide for yourself if the deli offerings are sufficient but it appears as if they focus on the take out meal business. Which is fine if it is a money maker. But, if you are used to or like a wider selection of deli items, there are many more options in a five mile radius. read more

But with the selection, ambiance and price, this is your best bet. Ralph's isn't my go-to market, but for what it is I enjoy being in here. The atmosphere is very inviting and the staff is consistently helpful and friendly. I've been to the one on La Palma & Walker, and compared to that one this location is by far for spacious. (The one on La Palma ended up closing down) Anyway, this place used to be open until 2am but it was the past year or two they began closing at 12am. In my opinion that was smart of them because after 12am all you really get are drunks kids trying to purchase for alcohol. read more

This is my childhood market and I always remember coming here to buy balloons. No matter whos birthday or what city im currently living in, I aways drive to this Cerritos location for balloons. I came tonight and found no one at the balloon section. *shrug.. I pick up a balloon and make my way around the store to grab 2-3 items I needed. I get to the cashier and ask if anyone can help me blow up this balloon. The male cashier with tattoos on his arm just tells me " yea, I guess.. that sections closed though" so I ask him nicely, please? I js need 5 balloons blown up. He then yells over to the manager "Can so and so blow up some balloons?" While she was bagging my groceries. I smile at her and thank her for helping me out. While I was paying, I noticed that the charge was only for the groceries so I ask the cashier, can you just charge me for the balloons here? He snaps and says " you dont want it charged separate?" Ummm.... hello you dipshit, please use your brain. I would rather just have one transaction -_-... ugh While she starts blowing up balloons she turns around and says " oh your gonna hate us.. were out of helium... guess well just give you a refund" I then asked her.. well I just spent $8 on balloons, can I just pick another balloon thats already blown up floating around the store? Her reply... "uh yeah whatever.. I guess. Let me tell my manager" So I pick a balloon thats not already half deflated but at $9. She then asks the manager what she should do because its a dollar more. He then tells her to get on a register n just charge me a dollar. I then pull out my card because I normally never carry cash, and the "manager" turns around and says "you dont have a dollar bill? A single dollar bill?" Um.... excuse me????? It's our local Ralph's so we are frequent customers, however don't expect to come in for a quick deli meal to go. We needed chicken so we waited almost 30minutes!! I was very disappointed in this Ralph's customer service at this location. I pre- ordered cupcakes from the bakery and the woman who helped me in the bakery was GREAT! She told me it was best to pay then so I could just pick up my order 2 weeks later. So I did. When I came to pick up the order the bakery was closed so the woman in the deli/ chicken area helped me. I showed her my receipt and she gave me a hard time questioning why my receipt was two weeks old. I explained that I paid in advance and she kept staring at my receipt. I had all the paperwork and receipt yet she still gave me an attitude and kept questioning the date. I asked her if there was a problem and she kept asking why my receipt was 2 weeks old. NEWS FLASH- people PRE-ORDER cakes in advance.. It is not the customers fault that someone did not write the date the order was placed, just the pick up date. So I left with a sour taste in my mouth as a quick pick up turned into an "ordeal". And she didn't even apologize for the trouble she gave me. The next morning I show up in a hurry to pick up my sandwich platters. ( already paid for) No one was there so I waited and waited then she casually walks in with no sense of urgency that I had been standing there for 10 + minutes. She gives me my platters and hands me a bag with about 8 mayo packets. I ordered 3 trays of 12-16 sandwiches. So I turned around to ask her for more and she started helping someone else and never looked at me as I stood there. She would not even acknowledge me and she KNEW I was standing there trying to get her attention.. So because I was ignored, I had to run through the store and grab a mayo. I am not a scene maker so I just did what I needed to and got out. But I will NEVER order anything from this Ralphs again because of the people they have working the food counters. They are rude and make it very clear they do not like their job. Not pleasant or welcoming at all! I have been a customer service manager for over 15 yrs. To experience bad service TWICE in less than 24hrs is unacceptable and I will not spend another penny in this store. Go order from Albertsons or Stater Bros. read more
