The benefits of Ralphs grocery include ralphs card savings, quick and easy deli and bread area and decent checkout time. Every ralphs store has different characteristics which make it a 2, 3, 4 or 5 star. This Ralphs has its good and bad, overall I left pretty content. The floor was unique, like no other Ralphs I had seen before. For my fellow Mexicans, think of that Primo's house with no carpet or floorboards just dark concrete. The carts were not very visible and neither was the cart return. The bread section was on the other side of the deli area. I did not see as many bargains as ralphs stores closer to home. However, with many positives I will not harp on the negative. Things which balance this stores rating include the fact the symetry was great and the aisle space was pretty good. BEER and Wine on adjacent aisles, and Plenty!! of it. The cashiers and customers seemed generally calm and freindly. They had a self service salad and sandwich meat area. They had city of Brea jackets for sale. Parking was good, its next door to the Brea shopping/hang out area tucked away with theatre, shops, eateries, lots of foot traffic, night lights and night life. I went in this morning to buy a few items and felt like a criminal. I go at 6am when I need grocerie because there's almost nobody there. I have High Anxiety so its the best time for me to go. I brought my cart up to the self checkout because I like the privacy early in the morning. Not today, there was nobody there so I walked over to grab some bags and heard from behind "Can I help you?" It was the store manager, I replied " Im getting some bags for my items, is that okay?" She walked passed me mumbling something. So I took a bag and opened it. I started ringing up my items. She rudely came up and said " After you ring up your items, put them on the side here so I can see that you ring up your items". What? Then she removed the items I already bagged and checked the screen to be sure. I've never been so humiliated in my life. I looked around snd there was three other people ringing up their items by themselves. I asked her " Do you want to ring up my items so you can see everything and don't have to stand over my shoulder watching my every move?" She rang up my items and bagged em. Then she saw I had three bags and asked "why did you get three bags if you only needed one?" I will make it my mission every time I go there to make her bag my items. read more

Today marks my last day shopping at this Ralphs. I've been coming to this store for over 10 years but recently noticed the service has degraded significantly. The staff is no longer friendly and helpful like they once were. This morning I phoned the Customer Service line inquiring about something, the phone rang forever and when it was finally answered, I got scolded at and hung up on. I called them right back because I couldn't make up what the lady was saying with her yelling but the call was ignored. I went to Stater Bros instead and got everything I needed with much better service. Will be doing my grocery runs at Stater Bros from now on. read more

My favorite grocery store in the area. They have a large selection of organic produce, seems larger than the selection at Sprouts to me. Some things are out of stock at times but when I come back the following week, those items are usually back in stock. I like this Ralphs, aisles are spacious and variety is present. Given the sales floor being quite large, it's easy for customers to navigate around and the customer service here is on-point given the illustrious clientele. "Illustrious clientele?" It's not that customers are shady here. Far from it. It's more that the customers can be pushy and picky at times, which sort of gets in the way especially when customers ask questions that could easily be answered by doing a quick google search on their cell phone. I literally witnessed a customer in front of me at the deli asking the clerk why there was liquid in a chicken salad mix. Well, why do you think there is, come on, it's not rocket science... Produce looks fresh and from what I can tell there seems to be decent manager specials in the back of the store by the employee only area. My only gripe is that there is no ClickList available at this location, which seems odd given that the clientele can be the pushy and picky type. Maybe that's why ClickList would fail? As far as other features of this Ralphs, the parking lot is spacious, there is the nearby downtown Brea with its multi-level parking garage, a movie theater, a Taco Bell across the parking lot, and a shopping mall a few blocks away. Let me start by saying that I do my grocery shopping very early in the morning on the weekends. I Went shopping at the Ralph's in Brea today, on 4/24, at 6:30 am. I started by Picking up some chicken & noticed it had expired on 4/23. I Took the chicken bag out of my cart after I noticed the expiration date and told the employee who was unloading boxes of frozen chicken that the chicken and all the other chicken that was out on the shelf had expired on 4/23. Employee responded with "okay". Employee didn't offer to take the expired chicken off the shelf and just went to unpacking the next section of beef. This is not the first time ive had problems with expired food at this Ralph's. Once, about a year ago , we bought dog food and after bringing it home discovered the dog food was infested with maggots. Why I didn't leave a review after that Incident is beyond me. But now I know why there is so much expired food at this Ralph's. It's because when you tell an employee that there is expired food being sold , they simply don't care. After I finished all my grocery shopping , I went to check out. All the check out lanes were closed and only self check out was open. I had $200 worth of groceries , which is not meant for self check out. When I asked where an employee was who could check us out , we were told that the cashier was on break. This was at 7:20 am. If your store opens at 6 am , then that means you should have cashiers available to ring people up. And maybe you should have a back up cashier by 7 am if your only cashier is going on break at 7:20 am. If you can't provide cashiers this early in the morning , the you need to change your store hours. I will not be returning to this Ralph's , ever. If you decide to shop at this Ralph's , Know that if you go early in the morning they won't have cashiers to check you out and Triple check anything you put in your cart for expiration dates. I am extremely disappointed as I have family members that use to work in corporate for Ralph's and I now understand why they quit and went to work for different grocery companies. read more

I had a terrible experience at the near by Vons on N. Brea blvd earlier so I decided to give Ralph's a try. I stopped here for bakery & deli to order chicken and a cake for Saturday. The Ralph's team were beyond helpful & very friendly & outgoing. Abel was extremely helpful and friendly and provided me with all the information I needed & bagged my groceries even though I was at self check out. The women in the deli was also extremely helpful. She was closed and on her way out but wrote the number & managers name so I can call to place my order first thing in the morning. A pleasant evening after a very traumatizing experience at Vons. As a long time resident and shopper at this Ralph's I am continually disappointed in a few things... 1. The baggers must take cues from the cashiers.. they throw and smash items so often I decided to get a job there... well I ONLY USE SELF CHECKOUT the employees are so bad. 2. They regularly don't have what is advertised in the weekly circular... and this is why TODAY I am writing this review. I asked the produce worker if any Green Beans are in back? Since the area with the BIG SALE SIGN was COMPLETELY EMPTY... she said, no, delivery comes tonight. Then I went to manager on duty as CUSTOMARY he immediately offered a RAIN CHECK!!! I get rain checks more often than I get thr freaken ADVERTISED PRODUCT!! I HAVE MORE AND MORE BEGAN SHOPPING AT SPROUTS... I am not overwhelmed by their variety... but the employees actually separate bread from rocks! And they more often than Ralph's have the product they advertise... Sad Ralphs can't get their shit together... union jobs are far and few between and this is evidently why... they suck. read more

Do not buy flowers from here. I bought flowers here for a friend's birthday a while back, and I noticed that they smelled kind of funky. I didn't think it was a big deal. I needed some flowers again yesterday for a friend's birthday so I picked some up. I got them in my car and they stunk. I'm not sure if it was the flower or if the water they were kept in had gone bad, but I almost considered throwing them away it was so rank. This is literally the worst Ralph's around, I truly believe the only reason they're busy is because the market is close by so many residential streets. They are understaffed, they never answer their phone and when you do walk in and stand at the customer service desk that is actually the last thing you receive- CUSTOMER SERVICE! . I went there tonight to buy a money order I tried to call first to see what their protocol was and if they still offered them but no one picked up after about six attempts, I then walked in stood at the customer service desk while the manager literally stared at me grabbed a basket and walked away then about 10 minutes later while I stood listening to their phone ring ( yet another poor fool with a CS question) at the front desk she walked by and asked " do you need something?" SERIOUSLY?.... I said yes, a money order oh let me see I think the machine is broken... I said if you could pick up your phone every now & then perhaps that would HELP! Oh & don't ignore your customers because your busy, I see you are all busy but at least acknowledge me instead of looking directly into my eyes & pretending Im not there.... The service has really gotten terrible here. Today I was at the self-checkout scanning my items, and an employee (in her 50s or 60s with blonde hair) just came over and was standing over my shoulder the whole time, watching me like a hawk and instructing me on how to do it, when I never asked for any help. She made me feel like a criminal and treated me like I was there to steal a bunch of things in my basket. I looked back at her to nonverbally question why she was standing there watching me and she just kept staring. I've been coming to this store for years and won't be coming here anymore. i will never use this bakery department again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else either. On Aug 17, 2023, I ordered.. and paid for 24 cupcakes to be arranged as the number "18" and an additional 12 extra cupcakes for a birthday party., I was to oick it up at 3pm on August 26, 2023. When I arrived to pick them up there were only 18 cupcakes in plastic conttainers... no design as ordered, and only 18 cupcakes instead of the total 36 that I paid fir. The lady that took the order wasn't there & the man at the counter had to call the store manager on the phone because there was no manager in the store. The manager on the phone was extremely rude and was unwilling to compensate for a totally incorrect order. I thiught we could at least upgradie to a different type of cupcake for some of the missing ones but he refused and hung up on me. Very very poor customer service. read more

I've never seen anyone be so petty about anything as this Ralphs, and the nearby ones are about making bags available to people using the self-checkout. You want to force everyone into self checkout by closing down the full-service lanes, and yet you want to make the self-checkout as inconvenient as possible because you are super concerned about people stealing 10 cent bags. read more

Stopped in this morning for some vanilla cupcakes. The girl in the Bakery snaps and tells me they only have red velvet. It's early, so I cut her some slack. Some random employee walks by and I ask her where I can find candles. She replies without looking at me or stopping and groans aisle 5. It's early, so I cut her some slack. Go to check out, and of course there is only self check out available. The lady there points with her head towards the direction of the checkout kiosk I am to use. It's early, so I cut her some slack. Damn kiosk won't take my cash; probably because it's US currency. Walk past all 3 miserable women on my way out and not one thank you or goodbye from any of them. I've been shopping mostly at the La Habra Albertsons lately, which is a good market, but as large as they are, often do not have products I want. I happened to be in Brea for the day recently, and decided to see what the Ralphs deli had to offer, because I didn't want to pay $15 for Panda Express. WOW. This Ralphs is packed to the gills! Their Asian aisle is very impressive! They even had sinigang mix! I picked up an excellent blueberry muffin, fresh & tasty California rolls, a watermelon cup, a bottle of Clearly Canadian. There were many other items I wanted to buy, but I wasn't going to be going home for several hours so I couldn't shop right then. There are two things that are preventing me from giving this place five stars: first, it really is packed to the gills to the point the aisles are cramped. Shoppers are constantly jostling each other. Not fun. Second, the prices are kind of steep. The sinigang mix is less than a dollar at H Mart and Walmart. Ralphs charges $2.49. WHOA NELLY. I needed help today from the customer service at Ralph's setting up their loyalty card and app to use coupons. Brandon went above and beyond to help me out. The technology had a glitch and he was willing to search the entire store for every item in my cart to add up the amount that I could save through the coupons. While he was hard at work, another employee helped me work through the glitch and get the app working. Brandon rang up my groceries with all the discounts and I was on my way. Generally love this Ralph's. I've had nothing but positive experiences here with selection and more importantly service. Too bad Chris who was bagging tonight didn't seem to want to work or provide good service. With my groceries I bought 4 boxes of cereal. When bagging he asked "Do you want bags for this?" I responded with "If you don't mind." Maybe that's my fault for not saying yes but I got a sick eye roll. I followed the eye roll with, " if you mind don't worry about it" which he didn't acknowledge. Sandee, super friendly cashier, tried to salvage the situation by saying he didn't mind but by his not bagging my cereal, I'm thinking he did. I grabbed my last item and told him not to worry about it and he gave me an angry have a good night sir. I'm a 40 year plus Ralph's shopper. I usually go to the Whittier store which is close to home. Today I was in Brea and decided to go here. While in line checking out, the checker behind me twice and rudely reprimanded the bagger as he was apparently not moving fast enough. I was embarrassed for him. It was inappropriate. Take that aside if he needs guidance. Turns out this checker is the store manager. Shame on her. She needs guidance on how to supervise people. I have been coming to this store for over 20 years and the reason I continue to come back is due to the friendly service I receive. I understand that given the current circumstances many businesses are understaffed, totally understandable. The employee BLANCA was the most incredibly rude person I have ever dealt with at the store, if you are going to be understaffed it is hurting your business to have rude and unhelpful employees working. The manager seemed like it was his first day or the job and this is just absolutely not the level of service I am coming to ralphs for. Do not buy prepaid Visa cards issued by prepaidgift balance from this Ralph's. We bought over 2000.00 worth of cards and all but a couple were compromised. Zero balance. VISA, U.S. BANK NATIONAL and Prepaid gift didn't help resolve issue. read more

Customer service at this Ralphs grocery store is one of the worst I have ever encountered! I will give you an example. I will sit here today and they have one check line open with nine people in line. I asked one of the employees why they did not have more checks dance open and she told me they had no one else scheduled that day. I was in line for five minutes and then I noticed they opened up two more lines. I asked her why could they not have done this earlier? I don't answer back to me, wife they were busy one of the cashiers, but I had noticed when I walked into the store was stocking one of the isles, so you could not tell me they could not have moved him to a checkout stand to make the line smaller. This store is constantly understaffed, I have to admit the deli department has improved but I can honestly tell you a couple of months ago it was a complete disaster! It was filthy. They would not have any hot foods out until after 2 o'clock in the afternoon and sometimes it only had one person working there but Kelly department has improved tremendously, but I can honestly tell you trying to buy your groceries and leave this store. The biggest holdup is the checkout line they were times they only have one open and there were times they only put you through self-service. Just a very, very bad attitude on some of the employees that work there, customer service You will not see at the store. read more

No complains about the store itself, but I have to mention an employee named Haley, and not in a good way. While she was scanning and putting my stuff in plastic bags, she was really rushing it and didnt show ant care for the stuff I got. She just threw things into the bag and were grabbing thing in such a rush that I was worried about my stuff being damaged. Sure enough, when I got home, I found my instant noodles crushed into pieces and damages to my chicken containers....
