PT's are a regional favorite in Illinois and Missouri, and pretty rare east of Indiana. They're known for looking like a flattened piece of fried chicken with a bun that barely covers half the meat. This had a great taste, and the breading was not overcooked as it is deeper into the Midwest. Ordered two pieces of pie to go (rhubarb and coconut cream). Unless you hear otherwise, I expect they'll be a standout given their size and appearance. Skinny's looks like a rough roadhouse from its exterior, but is a convivial family hangout inside. Our waitress was friendly and very efficient. A pro. The French fries were also exceptional, though the coleslaw was just average (little more vinegar, please). Maybe that makes this a 4.8, but the humorous wall signs brought it back up up to 5 ("Many have dined here. Few have died."). Lot of good menu items, but this was the real deal for a burger fix.

Even McDonald's is better than this place! My son was in town and I wanted to treat him to a great dinner.....thinking that this was still the Basil Restaurant. Apparently the place has changed hands and is no longer the classy eating place that it had been! The menu consisted of mainly breakfast food and some sandwiches and fast food side items. This location is still closed to public dining but you can walk in and order take out. So we did. We got our typical General Tso Chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and we asked for a sesame chicken rendition of tofu. In addition we do not eat pork or shrimp so we asked for spring rolls instead and of course I got my imitation crab Rangoon. They were very polite and accommodating! They perfectly prepared each dish though the rice was a tad over done. This establishment was clean, workers friendly, and food was well executed and fresh. It was very typical Americanized Chinese food. We will be back and we will be informing the mother in law that she does in fact have options for Chinese food in her new home town.

Our booth was comfortable and we felt that everything was laid out nicely. We didn't want for anything and she did an excellent job. FOOD: First things first: IT'S REAL SMOKE! So many BBQ places use liquid smoke or smoke flavoring, which I can't stand. Stoked does not - it's real. You can see the smoke ring right there on the meat which is always a good sign. We ordered A LOT of food because we are smoked meat junkies. First off, they brought us some pork rinds for the table upon sitting down. I usually don't like pork rinds and wouldn't order them on my own, but these were honestly really good. They were very crunchy and weren't greasy at all. We ordered the burnt end appetizer. Burnt ends are my "meat candy" and good burnt ends are so hard to find. Imagine my excitement to discover the best burnt ends I've ever had here close to home. They weren't dry at all. The sauce was nicely done and the seasoning was perfect. My husband and I split the 4 meat platter. We had ribs, smoked bratwurst, pulled chicken, and pulled pork. The pulled pork has a bit of a sweet flavor to it and will be perfect in the summertime. The pulled chicken was also extremely good - not dry whatsoever. You can't go wrong with a good Saum's brat, and smoking it just made a good thing better. To me, the stand out were the ribs. I'm very picky about my ribs and I do not like Texas style swimming in sauce. I want to taste the meat with a good rub. These were prepared just exactly how a good rib should be prepared. There are sauces on the table, but I don't think you'll need them, the quality and taste of the meat speaks for itself. Our sides, green beans, collards, and street corn, were all very good. There are a lot of sides and we'll be back to taste more. PRICE: Extremely reasonable for the amount and quality we were served. Overall, Stoked is a fantastic addition to a growing downtown. We will frequent this place for not just the fun atmosphere, but the delicious food. I highly recommend you come and check it out.
