We happened to stop in during a busy Friday night rush, and despite the crowd, Cody (who's currently in training) handled things really well. He stayed pleasant, composed, and professional the entire time--which isn't always easy, especially as a new hire in a high-traffic setting. Kudos to Cody for keeping it together under pressure--that kind of attitude definitely doesn't go unnoticed.

Closing in on Tonopah driving up the hill we get into town. Usually I stop at the far north end of town at the station that gas the Burger King inside. But this time I decided to stop in the middle of town at this Giggle Springs. I think I've stopped at another station with the same name on Bishop CA. This place seemed to have the cheapest gas in town and a good sized connivence store to get more road food. There wasn't a line for gas, so I pull in and pick a pump. The rest of the crew heads inside to the restrooms and junk food. The pump takes my credit card fine and I set the pump to pumping. This Suburban suck a ton of gas for the distance. But we're carrying 5 people and a ton of gear, so per person I guess it's worth it. I go in and use the restroom, decently clean, get a couple of cans of coke and now I get to have someone else do the driving! Reno, actually Carson City here we come!

Known for its root beer floats, burgers, and crispy fries we ordered their Bacon & Swiss Double Burger w/ Garlic Aioli combo (includes fries and a drink). Omg, I've not been to an A&W in years and this burger was so delicious! I loved the fries too, so crispy good! The restaurant provides a cozy atmosphere for families and travelers, clean with lots of booths and table seating. Friendly customer service!. There were a few customers ahead of me who seemed a bit unfamiliar with the whole quick-serve pizza setup, asking a ton of questions and taking their time to decide. It slowed things down, but that's part of the travel stop experience with people coming through from all over. Eventually they allowed me to go ahead of them. Through it all, Kevin at the counter remained calm, patient, and pleasant. He stayed attentive when it came time to ring up my order, which I really appreciated given the circumstances. It's not always easy handling a steady flow of travelers with different needs and questions, but Kevin kept his composure and delivered good customer service.

My son had the chicken strips, and he said they were really good too. The owner and employees were super friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The service was excellent, and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers. The dining room is also a huge upgrade from the old Chinese restaurant that used to be in this location. It's clean, inviting, and has a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be stopping by again the next time we're in Tonopah!

Catahoulas is a new restaurant in town that everyone has been excited to have join our community…read more Catahoulas is located inside the Banc Club (where the Chinese restaurant was) so you do need to walk through the casino that is very smoky regardless of how busy it is. The smoke does filter into the restaurant quite a bit. Despite the heavy smoke smell, the restaurant is clean and bright. Today I did a to-go order. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger no onions (came with fries) and an order of mozzarella sticks. The food has lots of potential but is not there-yet. I was surprised (not good or bad just surprised) when I opened up my burger and it looked more like a dip sandwich than a burger. The burger was cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully. I was disappointed in the lack of bacon (I found 1 chopped piece the size of a quarter) since I paid extra to add bacon and the owner talked up how amazing his bacon was to me. The burger was also lacking the veggies. Not only am I someone who likes the veggies on my burgers, but this burger is so rich, it really needs the veggies to cut through its richness. The fries were HORRIBLE and that is kind. They were greasy, soggy, limp, slightly undercooked, and flavorless. The fries did not come with ketchup or any other dipping sauce. The mozzarella sticks were seasoned well and lightly breaded but didn't have the cheese pull that one would expect. These came with a marinara sauce that complimented them nicely. Catahoulas let me down; however, they have lots of potential as they grow into their brick and mortar location. I look forward to trying them again in a few months and hopefully having a more delectable experience.
