What I appreciate the most about this store is it's convenient location. It's right off of the freeway so it's pretty easy to access. This is also the only grocery store I know to stay open past 8pm during Shelter in Place. All of the employees have always been helpful and they have a solid selection of desserts to choose from. I only had to stand in a crazy long line ONCE since COVID-19, but all of the other times I've attended its been pretty quick and easy to get in and out of the store. The downside is that their prices are high and their organic produce is lacking. I typically only purchase my staple items from then when it's on sale, or I'll go their for a quick errand if I don't want to drive too far. read more

They don't deserve a star at all... I when to go return something and they were very rude, the team leader on on duty was very rude and had attitude. If you return something over 25.00 it has to go on a gift card and I told her it doesn't show that it has to be on a gift card she said very rude CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE. And she assumed I bought the stuff last week because she didn't bother looking at my receipt to see I actually got them today 9/5. She also had attitude on the price of the item when the receipt said one thing and her her register said something else . Workers are lovely but I frequently discover my produce was bad. I have to carefully inspect each cucumber and other produce because they don't take away the rotten produce. I have alerted the manager 3 different times but I continue to find rotting produce. They don't seem to care. Pharmacy is also pretty bad. Again lovely people but poor staffing so they are randomly closed for lunch and closed most holidays and Sundays. I have been in a pinch several times when an order was sent to them and I discovered closed. read more

This is my second review regarding the same issue. The first review was in regards to Jarlsberg cheese selling for $19.99 lb at Raley's, whereas the same Jarlsberg cheese was selling for $11.49 lb at Whole Foods. The previous review's reply by Raley's said it's likely a pricing error and they would look into it. It used to sell for $9.99 a lbs. My concern is that Whole Foods is notorious for high prices and good quality, while Raley's is also known for their high quality, but is not known for being more expensive than Whole Food. Of course Raley's can charge what they like, but the conundrum is, what other foods are highly prices at Raley's with out them realizing it? As a note, the Jarlsberg cheese is produced domestically, rather than coming from Holland, which of course could make it more expensive. Awful experience here. Was in the store less than 5 minutes, And had an employee tell me to tell my children to not touch the produce. Said to not touch anything that we weren't going to buy! I said I can't leave them in the car and have to have them with me. I was clearly singled out, and was so upset! This is discrimination! If this rule applies then it should posted on a sign for everyone not just me and my children. Absolutely hands down, the best grocery store and the only one I go to. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Produce and meat/seafood is always fresh and plentiful. I love their flower/plant section and seasonal items. I've used their pharmacy a few times and always helpful, friendly and fast. Deli has a great variety. A lot of times, it's one stop shopping for me with such a variety of services and items they offer. It's a nice store if you are okay looking for items without help and don't mind using self check out. Personally, I'm a shopper who can easily use a self checkout and don't mind wandering the isles to find what I need. I can shop here without ever seeing or talking to an employee which is my experience almost every time minus an occasional hello from an employee restocking. Only downside is that I can rarely put my bags on the self checkout scale to be able to scan and pack since there is rarely an employee there to approve the weight of the bags. read more

I've been shopping at Raley's since I was a small child. It used to be an inviting environment, but now I'd say the opposite. The ladies that assist the self check out line are often rude towards the customers. The other day I was checking out and she was so unkind to this elderly man and was so impatient with him almost shouting at him. Then I went to check out after him and she had the same impatient almost angry energy towards me. I have social anxiety and going into the self check-out line at this store is a nightmare because I feel like I'm going to get scolded at if I have to ask for help or if I make a mistake. E-Cart department here at this location is the worst. During a pandemic these people are lying and telling us our payment didn't go through or something is wrong. When honestly nothing is wrong with the payment. It's their way of asking for your ID and card which I'm ok with. Just be honest about it. Don't call me and say their is something wrong with my payment because when i call the bank and the reassure me that my account and card are ok and not compromised or alerted fraud. Bread is baked fresh the meat is plentiful and no skimping on cheese for the same price or less than a sandwich you get from subway you can get a Raleys sandwich. Ask for the 12 inch and see the difference from what Subway calls a foot long. Best 15.99 you'll spend. The people who work at the meat department are pretty nice and helpful, but the cashiers (specifically the one who was working the self checkout around 11:30 AM on 12/20 - wish I got her name, but I was too shocked at her attitude) need some training on both patience and customer service. I was on the phone with my mom asking her about the rib eye deal the store was having, and I didn't know the limit was 1 per customer because there was no sign saying so. I had 2 of them, and after I scanned the smaller one, I went to scan the second one which didn't have a bar code to scan. I looked around for help and saw the worker. She repeatedly told me it was 1 per customer while I was on the phone with my mom, which I understood the first time. Obviously, I would want to buy the larger one to save money so I clicked edit cart to remove the smaller one. The register said that I would need assistance from a worker to remove it so I was waiting for the lady to come over while I was still on the phone with my mom. She didn't end up coming over, and either the call for help timed out or she denied it from her screen; not sure which one it was, but regardless, it's her responsibility to come over and ask what I needed help with. I was getting tired of just standing at the self checkout, so I just paid for the smaller package and was going to ask if I could return it and ask about the barcode for the larger one. I got off the phone with my mom and paid, and then the worker came right over. She was belittling towards me and patronizingly told me that it was one per customer. I don't know if it's because I am young or not white that she was patronizing me, but regardless of the reason for her attitude, she should not treat customers like that. She then snatched the larger one from me and walked away, immediately asking for another worker to put the meat back. She didn't give me a chance to ask about the missing barcode and was overall extremely rude. I'm going back later to return the meat that I paid for - no meat discount is worth this treatment. I don't understand why this grocery store has a high rating, and it's safe to say I'm never spending another penny here. If I could give a negative rating, I would do it in a heartbeat. read more

I use to think Raleys was a bit overpriced but changed my mind since other markets are not that much better as far as cost. You can't beat the service and quality. The store's aisles are set up to find items in an easy to find way and It's a very clean store. Most everyone from cashier to management is very helpful and polite. I've only had a few small problems and I'm almost hesitant to mention it so I'll just say this. I mentioned one problem to management and I do think they have tried to resolve it. . I enjoy the wide selection of items offered both on the shelf and in the deli. I love the Raleys soup selection in the chilled food area and have tried several. I've not been disappointed. Home for the holidays & we were all jonesing for some Asiago Bagels - which are ONLY found at THIS STRIP MALL'S Bagel Street Cafe Walked next door to Raley's to pick up a few staples & walked out of there w/ 2 full grocery bags.....which is typical for me & this store Raley's always has the most tempting breads & this time, we found a Parmesan Herb Bread that was soft & chocked full of delish herbs... made for the perfect garlic bread to go w/ our xmas sketti (our tradition!) Also happily discovered the mother of all Pumpkin treats.... Pumpkin Walnut Bundt Cake This thing was so incredibly delish & totally replaced any visions of sugar plums we had.....it was more like visions of Pumpkin Bundt Cake Soft, moist, light & even though we thought there'd be a hint of pumpkin flavor, there was a ton - but not too much as to overload or overpower the other flavors Completely dripping w/ this coffeecake like glaze of brown sugar & walnuts, you had the gooiness of a good coffee cake but the nice flavor of the Pumpkin Cake - just magical! Clean and tidy. This supermarket has got to be the cleanest super market in the town of pleasanton. The floors are not slipper and there's no signs of trash on the ground. Everyone here at Raley's are usually nice and helpful. Employees here are always offering help to your car when you check out. They are nice to offer this because I noticed a lot of elderly appreciates this service and this kind act when they buy loads of stuff. There's a hot deli here and Peet's coffee inside too. This is super convenient when you want to shop for your house hold items but don't want to cook sometime. You van pretty much kill two birds with one stone here. This was my first exposure to the new Raleys design and I like it! Those of you that know me well know I grew up at Raleys both as a child and as an employee. My BIL and I decided to go get some provisions for the pending family Christmas gathering. As soon as I stepped in, I was like WOW while the BIL was like LETS GET WHAT WE NEED AND GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, typical male! We swooped on what we needed and checked out. When I have to go to a regular grocery store, this place is my first choice. I do shop Safeway, but only on-line now. They have everything safeway does and then alot more too. There health and beauty areas are expansive and they also have an in-store pharmacy. Their produce is also super fresh and their meat doesn't look mass produced. I also like that this place isn't jammed with wall to wall people and lines 14 people deep. That alone is reason enough to shop here. Their staff is always super friendly and helpful. Don't go here unless you have plenty of time available to spend waiting in a checkout line! They must think they are saving money by having so few checkout lanes open. Amazingly, the "quick check" lane is closed a good part of the time, so people who need just one item are forced to wait behind people with full carts. I've been meaning to try out a Raley's for a long time. Ever since Consumer Reports ranked Raley's #2 nationwide in supermarket rankings. Only my favorite market, Publix in the Southeast, did better. I've been to some of their sister stores like Nob Hill Foods, but I knew visiting the flagship would only tell me how great this market really is. So could Raley's really compare to my favorite market of all time? Well, no. The market is beautiful. Like Wegman's, from the outside the market is nothing to look at. Once you get inside, it's much nicer but not super huge. Just an average sized supermarket. The hot food area is almost along the lines of Whole Foods right down to Sushi which actually looked like it was prepared on site instead of that plastic-coated sushi you see at most markets. I didn't try that but I did want to try something from the bakery. Some of the cakes looked really nice right down to some of the super chocolaty cakes. I didn't go that though. I found a six pack of Oat Bran Blueberry Muffins. Awesome! I remember getting muffins like this at Publix! Will these compare as just as good? Nope. Not even close. Way dry and flavorless. The rest of the place is pretty attractive with a lot of Whole Foods-like features. Store design is also very attractive without a loy of the neon type look you still see in some markets. It kind of reminded me of Pavillions. Only a little nicer. I;d like to go back and check out some of the hot foods at the market but I don't get to the Bay Area often enough. Still, it might be worth a return visit but not a must-shop. read more

Executive summary: 2.5 stars. Better than Safeway but nowhere near ideal. It's a chain supermarket. It has most of the defects you've come to expect in a chain supermarket. I would have rated it 2.5 stars if it were possible. The good thing is that it's better than Safeway. It shares the Safeway trait of completely counterintuitive layout that encourages traversing the store in epicycles like Ptolemaic astronomy. The produce ranges from mistakenly put on the shelf instead of in the Dumpster to more or less fit for human consumption. The meat is not great but some of it is edible. The dairy is the standard stuff you expect to see ina chain store. It's a good idea to check the pull dates. The frozen food takes up less space than it does in a Safeway, but there is a large area of the store devoted to general merchandise at high prices. The center of the store--pasta, canned goods, baking supplies, etc. is adequate but unremarkable. read more

I have to give a shout out to Ruthie's at the Pleasanton Raley's. I placed an order for a Thanksgiving dinner to be delivered to a family in need located in Antioch. Somehow my San Ramon zip code was entered and my order was routed to Raley's in Pleasanton. They could not make the delivery to Antioch. After Ruthie heard my situation, she contacted the Antioch Raley's only to find out they were sold out of Thanksgiving dinners. She then jumped thru hoops to have the Pleasanton location make the dinner, have it in truck to deliver to the Antioch Raley's store. Ruthie's kind and selfless act reminded me that there are still great people out there willing to go out of their way to make a situation right. She made my week as well as the family in Antioch. I go to this Raley's at least once a week. I agree with NoCal and Lisa, this is a great place to Shop. The produce is fresh, the service is awesome, and it is rarely crowded. While Safeway might have two for one deals and a club card which is enticing, I am never as quite satisfied there as I am with the selection of food that Raley's provides. When I go in, some of the clerks know me by name, and the baggers are very friendly and helpful. The store is clean, and they have a huge section for Christmas, Easter, Holidays, etc. They also have a pharmacy, carry clothing, sell dishes, develop film, in a lot of ways it is a one stop shop. I would have given them five stars, but there is one thing I just don't care too much for, and that is their Chinese food area - it is not that good. I find it bland and greasy ... but hey - I do see a lot of people ordering from there so maybe it is just me. *OH* and their take and bake pizzas are delicious and a good value! read more

This one goes to the store staff going out of the way to assist a customer in need. It's rare that I left my car on and the battery dies. The staff Ryan at this location volunteered to assist me when I am stuck and needed to have my car battery jump. This place has an outstanding staff. Always fast, friendly and individualized service. They remember you or they are really good at faking it lol. Any time I have had a problem with an item they replace it at their cost and make sure I am happy before I leave. The pharmacy is the tops! Best pharmacy I have ever used. I am there about every week and they have never let me down even helping me while I had an urgent situation arise out of town. They are paramount.
