8/1/25 - I placed an online or for pickup at 1:30pm, came in at 3pm. 2 employees were watching something on their phone and did not acknowledge me at the online pick up counter. So I went to the check out line and was told to go back to the online pickup. I stood there for 20mins while they helped 5 online pickup customers and 7 in line. I asked again if someone can help me with my online order, they finally asked for my name which I gave. There was no response and I stood there for another 10mins. I was about to ask to speak to the manager but I saw the guy sitting behind the online counter had a manager tag. I had run out of my favorite wine. I had tried to order/buy it from my local store in Albany, to no avail. After a couple of weeks, I tried to order again. No luck in Albany, but the website told me there were several bottles in Pleasanton, 50-70 bottles. So I ordered a case to be shipped to me. The shipping cost was nominal, $20 for three day shipping. Well worth it. BevMo sent me emails w/ the usual updates. When I learned that delivery was scheduled for today I wrote a note w/ instructions where to leave the box to tape to the screen door. Since pretty much nobody under 50 writes in cursive, I figured my handwritten note would be my proof of age. I had a lunch date and some errands to run, so I figured I would be covered. I got home about 2:30.and left the front door open. When I went upstairs to use the computer I found an email that the package had been delivered. I went downstairs and looked on the porch. Nothing. I figured it had been misdelivered somewhere in the neighborhood. I went back upstairs and sent them a response saying 'no, it's not here'. I am resourceful and a problem solver. After thinking and fuming I wondered if it was somewhere on my property so I went down to the garage. I opened it and looked where the bins normally are. They had been put out by my house cleaners this afternoon. Nothing. I looked over the gate and damned if it wasn't there! I will be 80 years old the end of this month. You couldn't tell it to look at me, but I have an extensive and well used vocabulary of swear words. I let loose w/ a stream of some of my favorites. I have a hand truck in the garage. I took it out, and w/ some effort, got the box onto it. Then I realized I could really hurt myself if I did any more. My plan had been to open it on the porch and bring the bottles in two at a time. It would have been too arduous and dangerous to do it from where it was. I went upstairs and called one of my neighbors to see if he had the phone number for our newest and youngest neighbor. Happily he did, so I called, leaving a message. Within 5 minutes he was at my door. He disappeared behind the fence and the next thing I see, he's lifted the box and asks where I want it. I led him through the garage and he took it upstairs, where he put it by the wine rack. After he went home I unpacked it and put it away. All the packaging was recyclable. A bottle of wine lasts me about a week, so I'm set for a while. Half a star for the delivery guy, who couldn't find his ass w/ both hands. 10 or 50 stars for my strong and helpful 30-something neighbor. read more

I haven't been in the store for quite a while and I was delighted to see its new setup. It's only moderately large, but they have a great beer selection. I asked for my favorite Gordon Biersch, and the staff helped me right away. Yea I got home with a 12-pack of Gordon Biersch Marzen. As with many stores like this, to get the good price you have to get the membership card. A bit of a pain, but it's pretty easy to ask for. Like other stores, they use a phone number. You can make up any phone number you want. I use an easy one because it ends in 1 2 3 4. The only problem I had today was their credit card machine, which did not work properly, so there was a delay at check out. Other than that, a very good experience. read more

Wow this is a really poorly run operation. Its obvious BevMo! Has been going downhill for a while which is why GoPuff probably scraped it up on the cheap. Here my experience the last two days: Yesterday, i decide to give BevMo another shot as im typically a Total Wine shopper but i couldnt find a particular bottle of whiskey i really want. So yesterday i fire up the app just to do a quick browse (why waste a trip if i can check stock in app i said). I immediately get a login prompt -- annoying! Cant browse or anything without a login. So i do the password reset thing -- fail. Says my code invalid. Try to create a new account -- error. I literally cant even browse!! Im looking to buy a $250 bottle FFS!! Today i decide to go to the store. I find the bottle i want!! Perfect! Its behind glass so manager has to do his thing -- i get it. 10 min later, he comes out and tells me they have to "shut store down" because their PoS system is going haywire. What?!!! I thought he was joking but he wasnt. I walk out in disbelief. Its perfectly clear this is just a poorly run enterprise. Whatever the hell GoPuff is trying to do, it isnt working or they dont know how to run a brick n mortar shop. Or maybe they're starving the stores of resources so they can shut them down. I just don't know. I'm basing my review on GoPuff, which is BevMo. My very first order a few months ago, I'm called and told that they're in the process of filling my order, but they don't have Coke. I laughed because I thought he was joking, but I quickly learned he wasn't. I said dude, are you serious??? This is BevMo, how on earth could you be out of Coke? That's like Alhambra saying they're out of water. It turns out they had different types of regular Coke, but not the 12 ounce cans 12 to a pack (fridge pack). I ended up getting five 18 ounce bottles. I could make this a really long review with specific item after specific item being out of stock. But I'll make it short by telling the lowlights of my five orders from there. (I'm really trying to support a business with great potential, but I'm assuming Corporate doesn't care but the line-level workers do. -Almost everything I've ever ordered was immediately out of stock after I ordered it. This started back in March. There are 30+ items out of stock where I've tapped the button that says "Notify me when back in stock". I've never been notified of one single item returning to stock. -Strongly suggest DO NOT BUY any type of hot dog bun, hamburger bun, or any bread item except for a loaf of white bread or wheat bread. Those two are fresh. Literally everything else is frozen, and I'm guessing they've been frozen for months. The frozen bread items are freezer burned on one side, and soggy on the other as the interior frost in the bag melts. They actually put these items in their freezer in the thin non-freezer bags that the manufacturer puts them in. Those micro-thin bags are made for a store shelf for just a few days, they are NOT made for freezer storage. I got into an argument with customer service using their "chat" feature because she said yes they are made for the freezer. WOW. That's "Food Storage 101". How can someone in the food business not know this. I finally sent her a link on proper storage of bread in a freezer. I don't know if they fixed this issue, but I won't be trying again. They are still out of basics that I ordered months ago. Why?? The Ben & Jerry ice cream flavor I ordered has been out of stock for four months. So I switched to an in-stock flavor (The Tonight Dough), and guess what? Yup, out of stock. The excuse is that it's hard to keep B&J in stock. SERIOUSLY???? Um, no, it is not. I checked EVERY store in a 3 mil radius using B&J's webpage. Everyone is in stock except GoPuff. In my opinion, that points to a management problem. All flavors are available right now all around them: Smart and Final, Safeway, Walgreens's, CVS, and many more. GoPuff is the only business that has this "stock" problem. Listen guys, an ice cream company is not going to crank down their output during their most profitable time of the year. They just won't. I'll stop here because I can write so much more and you'll get bored. LOL The bottom line is that, in my opinion, skip GoPuff unless they get their issues worked out. And don't buy any of their cheese!!! I think they freeze that also but I'm not sure. I've had THREE moldy cheeses delivered. I've also had items that were beyond their "Best By" date and/or within a few days of it. Right now they're a mess as far as delivering freshness and keeping things in-stock. I paused writing this for a few weeks and now I'm back, and I'm about to check their app to see if ANY of the 30+ items out of stock that I wanted are back in yet. Let's see what I find..... ..........Drumroll, please........... They're still out of every single product I ordered in March and April where I apparently took the last ONE of everything. I'm going to attach screenshots to this review so that you can see for yourselves that I can't make this stuff up! They have been out of eggs, milk, ice cream, Coke 12 packs, cereal, and so many more regular staples that people need. Unfortunately, I really do hate to say this, but I've given up on GoPuff. I think the concept is great if they only provided what they say they have, and here is a great example from a week or two ago: I BBB had a Notification on my iPhone from GoPuff. It told me that this is National Ice Cream Day (or week, or month, or something). When I saw that, the first thing that went through my mind was, "Come on!!! Are they announcing this while being out of stock of most ice cream varieties and flavors??" I thought there's no way they would actually do that. So I went to the search box within the GoPuff app, and B I typed, "ice cream" (without the quotes). Yes indeed, they REALLY did it!! They were advertising ice cream specials without having the ice cream in stock!! (Character Count limit exceeded, even though Yelp kept putting a note up on the page saying, "You're doing great! This is an awesome review!. They kept putting those up AFTER I passed the limit. I do not see a limit indicator anywhere. Is there one? If not, then how are we to know? read more

My favorite beer - Weihenstephaner Original Premium was in dangerously low supply today. This is an older, smaller store with less in stock. I searched all over the shelf for my Original Premium. All the small bottles in 6 packs were sold out... and so the knee jerk reaction was to headed toward the larger pint area to look for them there. They appeared also to be sold out. I rummaged around moving all the bottles and looking behind in hidden areas. Bingo!! Found one... soon after a second. Phew, that was a close one. The larger pint bottles remind more of Germany anyway. Across the Ocean the tiny little bottles like over here are not the norm. I also grabbed a 6 pack of Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier in case of emergency - but its not the same taste I like and I will probably go to Whole Foods in Dublin for more Original Premium before it would become necessary to drink a beer that is second best. Dublin Whole Foods reliably keeps that particular beer in stock. Its great to grab one and eat dinner from their hot food bar. I've tried a lot of beers in my days. Beer tasting has become like wine tasting in recent years with all the new trendy microbreweries - all these different flavors and people pretend to think one is better than the next. I've never been a snooty wine taster but I have had a small $20 bottle of sour beer - sure its better than $3 stuff - but after you hit the price point of Weihenstephaner everything else is just wasting money. The marginal difference for that last bit of better is so small... Especially after your second. Some close friends and family members are always teasing that my favorite beer isn't all that. I beg to differ. Weihenstephaner is the worlds oldest brewery. Do you not think that experience helps? Also, it is brewed under the purity law of 1516. I'm not exactly sure what that means but it sounds reassuring. Go ahead. Go beer tasting. Its fun to try new breweries... but you will soon realize that all these other beers are not better - rather they are just different. Like the difference between strawberry and chocolate. The empty shelf at this store also speaks volumes for this beer... and there is no arguing with that. Drink up!!! Let the moths out of your wallet!! Its great for the economy!! read more

I went to buy a Strawberry Ale for my friend but couldnt find it. I asked a worker and he did everything he can to find it for me! It's a seasonal drink so they were out of stock but he suggested me a few other beers so i was able to buy a Mango IPA! Everyone at the store were super friendly and I got something similar to what i needed so i was happy with the place :D beware though, the place is right next to In-N-Out so you might get an unwanted urge to get some burgers :p read more

I drove to this BevMo although another one was closer to pick up an international beer they carried. I was pleasantly surprised on the large size of this store. The beer I wanted I couldn't find but help was on its way with a customer service rep. The selection of international beers was very large. I found the beer I wanted and bought another brand which had a great price. The store was clean and employees were friendly. The wine selection was large and a sign said they had 100 new wines. I guess I should have spent the time. Parking was easy and plenty of empty spaces to choose. I may return to check out the selections of wine next.7 read more

Don't bother if you want the curbside pickup option. Their system sucks and they don't always pick up the phone. My husband and I had picked up twice before and it was an okay experience, but had a horrible experience today, and wanted to warn customers. We placed an order for a curbside pickup, drove up at the allocated time, checked in as instructed, tried calling the store 3 times, and after no one came out with our order, my husband went into the store to check with my phone. The order was under my name but I wasn't dressed appropriately to step out, so he went in. My husband met with an employee who first told him he didn't have our order and asked him to stand in line to speak to the mgr. My husband called me to let me know and I told him to pull up the email confirmation on my phone. Even after that, the employee refused to bring the order out and asked for me to come in. Because my husband knew that I wasn't dressed appropriately, he tried to reason with him that I was right outside in the car and if he could please just bring it out, but was told that I needed to come in. I thankfully had a jacket in the back seat which I threw on, walked in and asked him what the issue is. The next 15 minutes was spent in what I can only explain as a mind numbingly rude experience where I gave him my name, but he was reading my last name wrong, rolling his eyes and sighing like he was doing me a favor I finally leaned in, saw my name on the order, told him sternly that's my name and my order and was met with more rudeness and eye rolling. When I finally ran out of patience and asked if I can leave with my order, he pushed the cart in my direction, which was when this whole disaster of an experience ended. Rudeness aside, we now unnecessarily spent time in a store and risked exposure to COVID and will now be watching for symptoms for the next 14 days - this is the most upsetting part of it all. I called to complain and the supervisor was very sweet and apologetic, but I don't think we will be shopping here again. read more

I'm 64 years old and took a 6pack of beer to the counter for purchase at the Pleasanton, CA location. The cashier asks for my ID which I initially thought was a joke. I then show my drivers license and she attempts to take it. I ask what she's doing and she says that she needs to scan it and that it's "protocol". I refused and left the store. Been coming here for 20 years and not only never dealt with such a request, but never felt my privacy so potentially invaded. If this is actually BevMo's new policy, Costco will not only be getting my business, but I'm certain many others as well. read more

This review is for the customer service and selection of liquor chocolates. I was frantically looking for a liquor chocolates for a gift and I called around a bunch of stores in the area including some high end wine shops. Nobody had them. The lady at BevMo not only answered my query on the phone but actually gave me the details on the entire selection over the phone. I drove to the store, was shown to the correct aisle and was able to pick up the chocolates I needed and check out within 10 minutes. I am not a liquor purchaser myself but know that my hubby loves BevMo for picking up his drinks. read more

I purchased a gift card for a friend in December 2022 for a friend at the Pleasanton store. She went to make a purchase at the Albany location and was told the gift card couldn't be used because they had a new system that wasn't accepting gift cards, she then went to the Emeryville location and had the same issue. She tried again a couple weeks later in Albany same thing! I then contacted their customer support via online twice and NO response! She gave me the card back and I attempted to use it in Pleasanton in January and the same thing happened to me. I contacted customer service again for the 3rd time and they emailed me stating that my gift card was active and it could be used just to show them the email (see screenshot). I showed it to the manager (Emilio) he then said he couldn't do it, he then contacted his boss and he told me that said there was nothing they could do (rudely walked away and left me standing at the counter). I feel like BevMo is selling customers gift cards taking our money knowing that their system is no accepting them. Why are they being sold???? I am highly disappointed with them and will not be making any other purchases with them in the future. If anyone else has had this same issue it needs to be reported. read more

I'm not a huge drink by any sort of imagination, but I do try and buy some of the limited edition bottles of my favorite vodka or even tequila once in a blue moon. Overall, the staff seems ok but their selection is huge. The prices on the alcohol is decent to very good but the party supplies seem to be alittle high at times, I guess to chalk it up to last minute stuff to the party, so that get the nearly fully retail prices. Anyways, this place is mainly one of two places that I get more hard liquor and I've haven't been disappointed yet. read more

This is another great BevMo location. Parking is ample and aisles are nice and wide (so you don't accidentally tip over the bottles)! I find the customer service at this particular location to be top notch. Sometimes I am in search of a random item that I can score a great deal on through my rebate apps and have no idea where to find it. An employee always stops and asks if I need help and then finds it for me! They are always so friendly and willing to help no matter how busy the store is. I love Spanish tempranillos and find their selection to be pretty good. If you are in the market, check out the one with the little bull figure attached near the cork- it is excellent! When the lines are long, an additional register usually opens pretty quickly. Coupons are happily accepted and the 5 cent wine sale comes around often. There is also wine tasting at select times which is a nice bonus =) Even though I have gotten carded when purchasing cheese only, I have chalked it up to being a mainly alcohol-selling store that probably has a policy to card everyone. It is kind of flattering to be carded when purchasing blue cheese! This is a great BevMo location with a friendly staff and nice selection of spirits, wine and beer. They also have some yummy snacks, including cheese and salami that goes great with some red wine! read more

We sometimes come to this BevMo location, service is either a hit or a miss. Our recent experience was with one of the team members KYIRO. He was so friendly, helping and professional. Having this experience with KYIRO was so pleasant, he spread amazing energy and left us with a very pleasant experience. From helping us find what we needed and recommending some popular choices. It was like a friend helping you shop. We appreciate service and welcome like this, which isn't easy to find after Covid unfortunately. I was highly disappointed this morning when I went into your Pleasanton store asking for a single box and being denied. I do a considerable amount of shopping at your store and just needed an empty box. The attitude of the lady at the cash register really sours my attitude towards continuing to frequent your stores given the many other options available. Training people to use common sense should be a priority in this competitive marketplace if one is to survive. I used to go here to get my kegs but now I go to other places. This location definitely needs an update in both looks and operations as it has become dated. For example, at the other place, you could just go to the back freezer, browse the kegs, bring it up the counter and purchase it like any other item. But today at BevMo!, I had to wait for an employee to escort me into the freezer in the back. Said employee never showed up and so I just left and went elsewhere. If I weren't used to a bigger store, I'd probably give it more stars. Its size limits its stock and its options that I'll only go here for something I know they carry. If not, I'll go further north to Corte Madera, for rarer imports in both wine and beer. Despite the size, the place is thriving. Lots of customers at peek hours (around 5 to 7 PM). The cashiers and onfloor employees are very friendly. I usually can find something to bring to a friend's gathering or to highlight my dinner. The prices usually can't be beat. It's a great place to experiment with ingredients for cocktails or trying a new wine. Just make sure you have a budget set or you can walkout a bit lighter in the pocket. read more

I had the same problem Vanessa R. did. I went last night to pick up a few things, some of which I couldn't find. I passed 8 associates, then later while wandering around the store clearly needing assistance a group of 5 just "hanging out" no one made eye contact, no one said hello, no one asked if they could help me. I don't know if it is because of the holidays or what but I saw at least 10 associates in the store total. One shopper was so desperate for assistance she asked me if I worked there (even though I didn't have the trademark green shirt on and was carrying a shopping basket). I told her "no but I wish I could get someone who does to talk to me" she agreed and I took what I COULD find of the searched for items to the register. If you know what you're looking for and where to find it the selection CANNOT be beat for snacks, and beverages of most types. If you don't know exactly what you're looking for or where to find it.. you're screwed. I almost left because I was so upset with the level of service I didn't want to spend money with them. BUYER BEWARE! This is for all the event planners, caterers, marketers and brides to be...anyone who plans large events. BevMo has changed their return policy! Bevmo for years advertised that you can return any leftover purchases allowing their customers peace of mind when making purchases. We all want to make sure we have enough beer and wine for party, but we don't want to over buy either. For years BevMo has told us that if we don't use all that we purchase, we can bring it back. That has changed! You now can return product only within 7 days of purchase and only if you are unsatisfied with the product. This change was made a few months ago and they do have it listed on the bottom of the receipt, but they are not notifying customers when they make large purchases. I am a marketer and plan several event a year for my company. I have made purchases for events from BevMo for almost a decade. I recently had a party where I had 8 cases of beer leftover. I went to return it and was told I could not. They then pointed to the receipt stating the 7 day policy. They never mentioned the change to the policy when I made the large purchase. In the end, it is my fault for not scouring every inch of my receipt. Who does that though! In any other store if you make a purchase, they verbally warn you about the return policy, especially if there has been a change. The BevMo employee at that time noticed I was picking up another large order of wine in a few days for another party. He told me to bring the beer back in and he could take the credit for the beer off the purchase of the wine. So I had to load up all the beer and unload it back at my office, only to reload it a few days later. I returned a few days later to pick up the wine with my beer in tow and then was denied the return of the beer. They stated the policy had changed and I could no longer return the beer for a credit. I was furious. I had to now lug all the beer back and all the wine I had just purchased. Then explain to my boss why we could not return the beer and eat the cost. It will be six months before I have another event I could possibly use the beer for. BevMo, you need to change your process for large order purchases! You need to make it mandatory that all customers be verbally reminded of the return policy when checking out. Especially since for years you advertised something completely different. It is not fair for those of us who have been long time customers to get stiffed. I am pissed, but hey, as least I have 8 cases of beer to drown my sorrows in. read more

great beer the best wines gourmet foods big bottles of jager the top cigars since day 1 of bevmo's existence it has always been the best place to find all of your adult party needs. i have always been amazed with the huge selection of the best micro brewed beers. it's this place that really made me into the beer connoisseur i am to this day as well as the beer belly. it seems there is always something i need at bevmo and i always seem to find something i don't but am so happy i decided to get it. seems now bevmo is getting a bit more adult as they have a new policy of no one in the store under the age of 21 unless with an adult. bevmo can be rough on the wallet but oh so worth it. i'm sure someday my liver will hate me but right now it's loving every minute of it. read more

Oh BevMo you are an adult "Toys R Us" store for me. I always have fun exploring the new and unique items that I can't find anywhere else. So many different spirits, wines, beers and munchies. I spend at least a half hour during each visit checking out the goodies. Prices are decent, about the same as I have seen at Costco and less than Safeway when it comes to alcohol. The prices on cups, napkins and accessories are a little more expensive here. The store is always clean, organized and the employees are friendly. The location is easy to locate right off the freeway and plenty of parking in a shopping center. Join their club and get the benefits of lower prices and receive coupons in the mail. read more
