We find the Raley's in Loomis an ideal break point when we travel to Tahoe from the Bay Area. Often we take advantage of their nice deli area for lunch, and the in-store Peet's is perfect if you need an energy boost for the last leg. Naturally an abundant choice of snacks, and we can buy breakfast items for the next few days. Good bathrooms too. Wish we had a store like this in the East Bay: huge, wide aisles, amazing selection, decent prices. Oh well.

I am always blown away at the diverse selection of things to choose from. Beer, Micro Beer, hard to find local beer, CBD infused drinks, seltzers, wine of every variety, ports, Sauternes, champagnes, tequilas from blanco (silver), repasado, anejo, extra anejo, anejo deep, mezcal, vodka from around the world, every imaginable gin, rums I've never heard of, cordials to your hearts content, scotch to make you cry, bourbon and rye you only read about in books, cognac that is older than my dad, and sooo much more I am salivating just writing about it! So when you need a source for something especially special, take a trip and drop in and see the guys. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. If you're looking for fun on a Friday or Saturday night, they offer wine tasting of some delicious wineries. I have had Rombauer, Frank Family, Stags' Leap, Caymus, Duckhorn, Work and Grgich Hills to name a few. With cafe vaiano next door, pull up a seat, order a meal and make a great night of it. And for those cigar smokers, there is a patio and they carry one of the finest selections of "best of year" cigars for your selection! This is an awesome place to stop on your way into Folsom Lake to pick up necessary provisions as well as a classy place to enjoy a night out with a date!

I believe that was the owner. He instantly came over to talk to us when we are browsing to talk about his store pics and I told him I was new and he was explaining to me about the different bourbons and how are they are made and what they had in the store. The good about this place is that there is great service with some of the best customer support I've ever had, especially for a liquor store. He has a large variety of different bourbons and wines. He they do some combo deals on multiple bottles that are listed on the tags by the bourbon. There are a ton of store pics and he loves talking about them and is very passionate. The stores while organized and clean. Mostly store picks are on the right side and the left side has the regular ones. He has a lot of allocated items in the back and on top shelves. Everything is priced around secondary market and some are decent deals. Best customer service no upselling of items. He just talked about what he had and he made sure that I made the correct choice and didn't overspend. He would rather have a repeat customer then making a buck. 100% would come back here again.

Tonight I had a very bad experience picking up an order at this BevMo location…read more I was picking up a DoorDash order. As instructed, I went to the back door and rang the bell. I waited around 20-30 seconds, and since no one came--and because I've had past experiences where the bell wasn't heard--I rang it one more time, just to be sure. A male employee with a long black beard came out extremely rude and aggressive ready to fight, asking why I rang the doorbell two times. His tone was disrespectful from the start, just because I clicked the bell twice. I noticed how frustrated he was, so I tried to change the mood in a light, humorous way and said, "Chill man, it's just a ring." But that made things worse. He became even more aggressive and started saying things like, "What if I come to your house and ring your doorbell multiple times?"--even though I only rang it two times, not repeatedly. He went on a long paragraph saying things like "Don't ring it multiple times, we're not deaf," in a very disrespectful way. Just because I said the word "chill", he got even more upset. He then started another long paragraph explaining that he was working alone tonight. I understand being alone and stressed, but that is not the customer's fault. If the store is understaffed, that is something to talk to a manager about--not something to take out on customers or delivery drivers over a simple doorbell. Despite all of this, I still felt bad for him. Maybe he was having a bad day. I tried to end things peacefully by apologizing and reaching out to shake his hand. He refused. I tried again, and he refused again. I've honestly never experienced that before, and it left me feeling really uncomfortable and embarrassed, especially since I did nothing wrong. At the end, when he handed me the order, he suddenly called me "boss" and said "have a good day" in an aggressive, sarcastic way--after already ruining my mood. It felt disrespectful and unnecessary. This is not an acceptable way to communicate with a customer or a delivery driver just because they rang a doorbell twice. If someone is having a bad day, problems with family, management, or working alone--that is not how you handle it. You don't fix those problems by making someone else's day worse. Did I deserve this experience just for ringing the bell two times?

Costco

(53 reviews)

Alright, time for an update!…read more Costco still remains a daunting, unfriendly and very troubling place for me. It's American mass consumerism at its prime and worst. I need to go when the fewest people are there, otherwise it feels like a horror movie... all those people running around with multiple carts overfilled with stuff, some actually frantic. Besides who really needs six jars of super sized mayonnaise unless you have a family of twelve or more? However, there are some redeeming factors to shopping here, and possibly getting a good deal. This still remains the ONLY Costco in the area I'll visit for otherwise being run over by a crazed shopper with a full pallet of merchandise. So. Some great finds- We got two new good quality camping chairs for the outdoor concerts we attend at a rock bottom price! Woo hoo! Then I found a large container, yet still manageable, of my favorite snack treat, Aussie Bites, at a great price. Please don't buy them out!!! The maple syrup is good quality and less expensive than anywhere. The paper goods can also be a very good deal. Just have a big storage space for a gazillion rolls of toilet paper. They were unfortunately out, or no longer carrying, two other favorites, the top sirloin hamburgers and the Korean dumplings (an easy and quick, delicious treat). I recommend perusing the aisles as one never knows what really interesting product or bargain is lurking in the depths of this monster store. Oh, and if you want a ginormous TV that will never fit anywhere or a casket, just in case, they have those too. Plus, it's fun to count how many giant SUVs are parked in compact parking spaces to be as close to the front door as possible! After all, there's enough walking inside! You do need a membership to enter.

This is the only Costco I go to. It may be smaller than other locations, but not dealing with the…read moredreaded gas station line makes it worth it. Instead, there are plenty of EV chargers. They say Costco on them but they run through Electrify America, and they are F-A-S-T. I got up to 230 miles (80% ish for me) in 10 minutes from nearly dead quickly after I shopped. The crowd has usually been lighter than other Costco locations, which makes getting in and out easier. I think part of that is the location. Sierra College Boulevard does not have a huge commercial strip or much dense housing beyond the two nearby shopping centers and small neighborhoods, so the store feels calmer than the bigger warehouses. If you like Costco but not the chaos, this location has been the one I keep coming back to.
