I have lived in Raleigh (Memphis suburb) for 46 years. The whole while, Raleigh Tire has operated on Austin Peay Highway, in the same location. Those times when I have taken my car there, I have received nothing but the best car care. I have always found the staff there to be congenial and very kind. In seeing the negative reviews left for them, I am appalled. Of course, I know there are many people who will complain about any and every thing and cannot be pleased, no matter what. "Most people are as happy as they make up their minds to be." (Abraham Lincoln). Some people have just never made up their minds to be happy, and they won't ever. Raleigh Tire has been a successful business for at least half a century. This could not be possible without offering quality work and quality service. Shame on those who complain, for Raleigh Tire does not deserve such negative reviews. read more

I purchased 4 brand new tires at this location. I waited while they put them on for me. I paid over 800$ for these tires. When I got home I really looked at my receipt and it said that they did not do a wheel alignment. I thought when you purchased brand new tires they did the wheel alignment right then and there because I'm thinking is part of that package deal. No it is not. I called and asked and I was told that was a separate charge and I could bring it back or take it somewhere else. read more

I am not normally one to come on here and complain about businesses, but this situation in particular with Raleigh Tire was so terrible that I wanted to share it. My wife's car has been having some trouble recently, and we had to get it towed to Raleigh Tire. We were initially very pleased because it was the only place that was able to see our car the next day. We got a call saying that they were gonna start by replacing the spark plug and go from there. Well, once that didn't help the problem, they told us the next option would cost several thousand dollars, so we decided to get it towed to a Hyundai dealership for a second opinion. A few days later, we get a call from the Hyundai dealership and were told that when they brought the car back, it had NO spark plugs in it and the ignition coils were lying on top of the engine. We immediately called Raleigh Tire to tell them this news, and to request the $316 dollars that we paid them back, since the job wasn't done. They told us they would talk to their staff, and have their owner give us a call. He finally called us the next afternoon, and told us that they are not owning up to the mistake, and refuse to give us our money back. read more

I went in to the Raleigh location to get a simple service. Just wanted them to take my rims off and put my factory tires back on. The service was reasonable and quick however, when the time came for me to pay the gentleman kept telling me my card was declining.. I said sir maybe it's your machine because I have funds but I'll try another card.. same thing happened then I go and check my accounts and I've been charged a total of 7 times between the 2 cards I used. The gentleman said he didn't know what to do and called some guy who knew more about the card reader machine.. somehow they couldn't find any transactions of all 7 of these charges going through even though I was showing them my mobile banking accounts as it was happening.. all he could say was that is pending, you weren't charged.., yes it's pending but the money is gone and once it clears it's still gone.. I'm sure the gentleman was frustrated with me because I was frustrated with him while trying to remain calm because I wanted my damn money back.. just reverse the charge..we're going back and forth about the charges.. and then they hand me the phone for the guy assisting over the phone to say the same shit over again.. to me, if you cant fix the issue just give me a refund in cash for the additional charges that should not be there and problem solved..you clearly see I've been charged but your listening to the idiot on the phone saying it's going to drop off when you don't even have a record of it at all.. no trace!! .. I called my bank and they said it will not drop off all I can do is wait until it "hard post" and dispute the charges. I asked for a receipt, I get a receipt that shows I paid 0.00, but the service" should have been 22.99" like it was free when it was not.. inaccurate.. I don't even know if my bank will accept that for a dispute.. the service as far as my car was concerned was fine but I will never go there again because they just "didn't know what to do" and I left without my money now I have to wait days to try and get this issue resolved with both of my accounts which is unnecessary and an inconvenience. What if that was my last few dollars and your company just says " well, I don't know what to do" me as the customer was highly upset about that. I guess I should have checked the first time I swiped my card because I knew I had money.. I left with my tires changed and 6 extra charges on my card! read more

I needed a oil change so I called Raleigh Tire on Austin Pey to get the directions. He gives me the direction over the phone. When I got there and said I would like a oil change with my coupon. He said rudely "O honey I'm booked (meaning no more customers) I asked why didn't you say that on the phone before I arrived. He said" I didn't know what you have wanted." Does it matter if your booked I said. Either he's racists or didn't want to accept my coupon. STAT AWAY!!!! read more

Took my truck in for wheel alignment after having tie rods ends replace. They told me something else was wrong after they tried to alignment but couldn't be specific with the problem. I took my truck to Firestone and they inspected it and found the problem and it was the tie rod end was loose and done my alignment. I paid twice for alignment. I don't recommend this shop for anything read more

I had a hugh problem on a Sunday while traveling from Destin, Fl. I finally found a Firestone in Meridian, Ms I spent several hours there they replaced 2 tires and did an alignment and 25 miles down the road the car started bouncing just like it did before. When i got home i brought the car to Raleigh on Austin Peay where i purchased the tires several years ago and Bob spent hours trying to find my problem Bob re balanced the tires test drove it several times and found it was still not perfect. Bob's last test drive he took his mechanic and they figured out that i had a slightly bent axle Bob charged me a very responsible price after spending about 6 hours on the car. He will now become my mechanic permanently read more

I went in to get my brake pads changed only to leave with spongy brakes. It was better before they changed them. I've had my brakes done before more than once by different people and never have my brakes not been firm. They swore up and down it is not supposed to be firm and that they did everything right. Apparently not! The mechanic Edward then goes to tell me after I came back and we did a test drive maybe it feels different because I sit so close to the sterning wheel. That should have nothing to do with it and if they were done properly I wouldn't have to. I lwft and came back with my boyfriend in which he explained to us that he never took the caliper off to put on the brakes and he only had to slide it in so he wouldn't have to the cap off to bleed the brakes. So after I left for the second time I went to Firestone to get a free brake inspection and second opinion. The mechanic then told me afterwards that Edward didn't take off the caliper which was the problem. He said that it was trying to push through and he could smell it burning and it was very hot. Two days later I go back to inform them of what the mecahnic at Firestone told me only for him to lie and say he did take it off and it's impossible to put them on without doing so. However, to confirm that he did say what he said I called my boyfriend and he said the same thing I said. Edward told us he never took off the caliper and that he only had to slide the pads through so he wouldn't have to take the cap off to bleed the brakes. I was very furious at this point. I may not know much about cars, but I know my brakes weren't supposed to feel like that after having the brake pads changed. Oh and the test drive with Edward was very unprofessional as he kept saying racial slurs about the manager and male cashiers up front saying that they try to get over on women when he is the main one trying to get over and how he's on commission. They wouldn't even bleed my line to see if maybe there was air in the line unless I paid 79 dollars! I spent almost $400 there already for new brake pads, oil change, and a new tire! I left there very disappointed all because their lazy mechanic wants to take the easy way out and lie. They will never have me as customer again. Do yourself a favor and go to Firestone or Gateway. read more
