I have had an on and off water issues in my lower level for years. A previous "life-time…read moreguaranteed" solution from another provider went bad. The company went out of business so the guarantee was worthless. When I noticed a musty smell, I contacted three other companies for opinions and solutions, All gave me different information and a wide range of prices. When I told a realtor my frustrations, she recommended Dry Effects. When the inspector came out, I immediately felt confident with his knowledge and experience. The Dry Effects estimate was also more reasonable than the others. Dry Effects sent out two crews. The first one to remediate wetness/mold in the walls and another to install a drain connected to my sump pump. They also provided a guarantee for their work. When another hidden problem arose months later, they promptly remediated it at no cost to me. After COVID, I have found it hard to find service providers who are reliable and efficient. It was a relief to find Dry Effects.

Phone tag with the office for two days landed me an appointment. The crew shows up, cuts a few holes in my ductwork, and then asks if they can use MY 15 year old craftsman shopvac TO CLEAN THE AIR HANDLER BECAUSE THE ONE THEY BROUGHT DIDN'T WORK! I obliged....I don't know why. Maybe because of countless weekends of Gary Sullivan on 700wlw telling me directly that these people are the best! Maybe because the guy asked nicely! I don't know, but I let them keep going. I went downstairs to check their progress, and unfortunately asked a question..."aren't you going to clean the A coil? Your advertising includes that in this service and the scheduler said it would be done....?" Nope, they said they couldn't reach it and they don't normally clean them on heat pumps. I again accepted this for unknown reasons...mostly likely related to Gary Sullivan, the freaking Walter Cronkite of AM home improvement talk radio. The men, who I should add were very nice, said they were done, and for some strange reason, I wrote them a check for about $570. Again, I was writing the check and I could hear Gary Sullivan saying, "yeah, they're the best! So you should pay them twice what other companies charge to do the same thing! They're the best! They need double of what this job should cost to keep advertising on 700wlw...." and I signed the check and they left. Later, my wife and I realized the whole house was covered in dust. Apparently, "Hi Tech" blew the dust in the duct work all over my house - ducts are clean, I think, but I don't know for sure because I can't see into them, and all or some or most of the dust that was in the ducts is all over the house. The basement where they were working - a disaster. Metal shavings all over from the holes they cut, and dust and debris everywhere. I thought about calling and complaining, but that would just be a waste of time....I can't imagine they would be quick on a refund considering they can't even buy their employees a functioning shop vacuum. And I didn't really want them to come back and clean up, since they couldn't do it the first time. So I'm writing this review....$570 poorer, upset that Gary Sullivan mislead his flock....

This was supported by a live walkthrough for me to view what the repair person was talking about. The same afternoon (!) options were presented for replacement and a choice was made. An appointment was made and several days later the old furnace was taken out and a new furnace was installed in less than 4 hours. Everyone involved was extremely helpful and courteous. Bottom line: price quoted and installation met with no surprises. Clean space left with all old items and leftover stuff removed. Several weeks later, I remain completely satisfied with the job and would happily recommend this company based on my experience. I will continue to use them in the future.

I noted things like "I have 8 returns or 3 main lines", and asked if it would that means that it would essentially be like 4x the promotion ($200)? Which would have been very reasonable. She sort of laughed and said it would be less than that, as adding in the returns would be $15 each additional, so more like the $50 special, plus 6 more returns at $15 each ($90), thus ~$140 total. Technician arrived hours after scheduled time (I ended up having to call and was told they were delayed). But once he arrived it felt like a bait and switch... was a total 180 to the service and quote on the phone (This time with my wife at home). Technician said it would be ~$400 to do the basic clan out. Honestly, maybe $400 was fair, but I never even called around or got other quotes because on the phone she was so confident it was going to be under $200 ($140), and that seemed great. But the guy was pushy and rude, and it got to a point where my wife decided he just needed to leave. Probably the most surprising was that after sending out a technician to a job that was planned/quoted, the company never called to find out why we declined services. Which made me think is must be a common practice that they 'bait you in' and then just expect that once they are there and you have adjusted your schedule that you will just let them do it regardless. If Kleen Air solutions reads this; feel free to call me if you are interested in sending out a different technician to do that job as originally quoted. Air duct cleaning is so full of fly by night scam 'companies' (we've all seen the random posts on the local Facebook pages) that I was really hopeful seeking out a local company would yield more upstanding business practices.
