We did call ahead to make an appointment, but I believe that he may also do walk-ins. To start off, you fill out a form with your basic information and main concerns that you want to work on. Then, Dr. Au takes you into his office for a short consultation. He will ask you about what you listed on your form and ask questions to best pin-point your issues. He will also take your blood pressure and pulse. He can tell a lot about your body simply from taking your pulse. I'm really not a needle person so I was a bit anxious but it really wasn't painful. He even connected the needles to electiccurrent and it's a weird feeling at first but it ends up feeling like a deep tissue massage. Everything is clean and while it may not be a bougie spa vibe-- it's still very comfortable. I walked out drinking the Dr. Au kool-aid. I paid a whopping $12200 out of pocket for my upper back are ($1500), right knee ($1500), and my upper arms at ($1500). My lower back at $6750.00. The figures are as best that I can remember. Treatment consisted of taking huge 350 vials of blood and spinning them centrifugally and inserting them back into my body. Sometimes it was one or two, and sometimes 3. I got extremely dizzy after this and sometimes had to wait awhile until my body recovered until I felt better. There was one incident that I recall where they reinjected stem cells into my lower back and that was excruciating. I cried out in pain. During these visits sometimes it was done by Dr. Son (who is not an MD) but a chiropractor. There were two visits that I met a Dr. Charles Arakaki and the next time there was a doctor named Dr. Carlos Fernandez. Funny that I never saw them again. ALL OF THE TREATMENTS DID NOT WORK, I COMPLETED THE EXERCISES TO A T AND ALL FAILED!! At that point I stopped going, no sense in wasting my time as well as endure more pain. We proceeded with a PRP injection, which I learned that there was actual homework/prep work for me to do BEFORE the treatment that the hip MD didn't even tell me about! Such things like stopping NSAIDs, drinking, fasting, etc. to help make the PRP injection more successful. I would not have known this if it weren't for Dr. Ferrante. The injection went smoothly and I experienced significant pain relief. I will return to do the other hip now that I know how successful it is. I know PRP injections are expensive, but definitely worth the price (insurance doesn't pay for them thru a MD anyways). She made me feel comfortable (as comfortable as you can- these injections are sore) thru out the procedure, and increased my trust by providing me with a lot of information about what to expect before/during/after, and of course following up. Of note, when I came in for a hip follow up, she noticed I had a wrist brace on, and took initiative to inquire about this new injury and brainstormed a special taping to help offload/support the area (again, something that the orthopedic PA didn't think about) which also provided more stability/less pain for my wrist. She offered another treatment option for it if occupational therapy didn't help. And the masseuses were so transparent and said they weren't certified for that, but will try will their best to accommodate. My MIL's masseuse asked a bunch of questions. And then we got our massages... My MIL seriously loved hers. She said her knee felt so much better. And it was way better than a Thai massage. So, MIL approved... and did I mention I absolutely loved mine???
