They have no common sense to bring it to us They also let the drinks sit on the counter until they'd melted I remember there were two young ladies who gave us the drink first while we were waiting for our food. I miss going to cafes like this back when I used to live in L.A. Most cafes nowadays don't really exist where it used to be the perfect study spots. This cafe is gigantic and offers many different "nooks" that's perfect for a late night study sesh sitting at the window or cuddled up on a booth. They have a huge menu from drinks to food but I'm always content ordering their milk teas and other boba drinks. I've been drinking boba for years and I was "today years old" when someone finally taught me how to drink a creama milk tea... all these years I would think nothing of it and grab a straw to stir the cream sitting on top and drink it without a care in the world. However, when I went to grab my drink and a straw, the guy stops me and says, "you don't need a straw" and I give him the stink eye and he's like "here let me show you" and basically he says you sip it instead because if you use a straw, you only get the tea at the bottom and if you stir it... there's no difference from ordering a regular milk tea... I stumbled across this place while checking out the supermarket it's in. My family and I were craving some boba and, as someone who just moved here from an oversaturated boba city, I was nervous. I've been to Rain Cafe many times within the past five years, but the quality of the food and service has gone down quite a bit unfortunately. We ordered a couple of ramen dishes along with the rainbow sushi burrito and crispy lemon wings, but they were mediocre at best. The tonkatsu ramen was extremely bland, and my boyfriend compared the dish to a bowl of water and some noodles. I had a taste of the ramen and agreed that it had very little flavor to it. I had the spicy soy ramen and it had more flavor to it compared to his ramen, although it didn't stand out to me like other ramen dishes I've eaten. For the rainbow sushi burrito, I mostly got a mouthful of lettuce when I bit into the burrito, and it didn't have that same amazing flavor as it once did. The last time I visited Rain Cafe was over a year and a half ago, so before covid even happened. I'm not sure if the quality of the food and service dropped because of the pandemic or if it's just dropping regardless, but I find it really unfortunate because I use to enjoy coming here whenever I was in the Seattle area. I use to come here a lot because I enjoyed their make-your-own poke bowls, but that part/area of the cafe seemed closed down and they're no longer serving it. Such a cute hang out spot! A great ambiance and enough variety in the menu. I indulged on the Ferrero Rocher milkshake, and it was SO FREAKING GOOD. Definitely sweet, but it tasted like a liquid Ferrero Rocher and I could really taste the wafer flavor (which makes sense because I'm pretty sure they mix them into the actual shake). They have other pastry/dessert goodies, but since we came late in the day, it was mostly picked over. I would return and order other items! Staff was also great too :) read more

Delicious! Popcorn chicken in lemon pepper is the best out of all 3 flavors. Ramen is decent, not too salty and no MSG. Great beef noodle soup. Yummy deep fried California roll. There's one standard size and pricing ranges from $3.50 to $4.75. Each "bubble" is an extra $.50 and if you want more or less ice, it'll be an extra $.50. Less ice costing an extra $.50 is baffling. I know several people that occasionally come to Rain Cafe for some bubble tea, and I have actually never gotten anything from Rain Cafe yet, even though I usually go to Kiki's Bakery right next door. If I'm being honest, I was pretty impressed! I got the tropical creama with boba which had passion fruit and mango topped with cheese foam. It was a very refreshing drink, and the foam really helped balance the sweetness, and added an element of saltyness. It all worked very well together. As for the boba... it was also very good! Perfectly cooked, and really soft, and also pretty flavorful too! The staff were pretty friendly and sweet, that also goes for the inside of the place. I was actually surprised to see a couple of people sitting down and eating at their own booths. I was also surprised by the size of Rain Cafe as well. Thank goodness for sushi burritos during this pandemic. Nothing beats a handheld sushi roll when you're busy getting work tasks completed. Who has time to go out for lunch all the time? Very loud and echoey atmosphere. Food prep and service is pretty quick. Tables are hard to come by since they are first come first served. Downside is that this place is in the same facility as the grocery store--fruit flies were hovering here and there. I must say that the modernness of this place is impressive. When you order, they will give you a card with a number and when you find a place to sit, you insert the card into a reader on the table. This gets put into the system so the waiters know where you take a seat! There's also a button on top of the reader so you can call a waiter if you need service. How cool and convenient is that?! Tapioca pearls: warm and almost melt in your mouth consistency--how it should be! Grass jelly: comes in large chunks. Good! Caramel milk tea: tapioca pearls were warm (nice to know they are "fresh"). Lightly sweetened and hint of caramel. Just how it sounds, caramel and milk. Tasty but not for those with a sweet tooth because it isn't pure sugar--it only tickles your tastebuds with a dash of sweetness. Beef noodle soup: broth is super tasty, not too salty, beefy, and a hint of lime. Braised beef was a bit on the dry side and somewhat chewy. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that it's not always like this. Baby bok choy was still crunchy, which is a plus! I hate it when places overcook it and it's all wilted and chewy. Minced pork rice bowl: wasn't a fan of the chewiness that was present in the mix. Flavor is a bit on the bland side. Preserved egg's yolk was on the dry side. Wasn't impressed--pictures look better than the taste. Shoyu Ramen: buttery broth! Yum! Egg yolks were just the right texture! Pork slices were good and not chewy at all. The shredded ginger in the soup was a nice addition. Crispy lemon wings: lemon pepper flavor, heavier on the lemon side (how I like it) and just the right amount of crisp! Fried fish tofu: SUPER SPICY. It's like my mouth touched lava. I literally had it touch my mouth and tongue before I felt the regret. The burn lasted for an eternity. I didn't even chew the sucker. Never again. The sweat and burning sensation was not worth it! So you masochists go ahead and take my share. Mango Italian soda: it's got mango purée in it instead of syrup! Mango smoothie: tastes like real mango and isn't too sweet. Nice creamy consistency and refreshing! Meat man: don't get it. Just don't. Too much sugar in the sausage. Pickled veggies too sour. BBQ pork tasted stale. Egg overcooked. Chicken dry. Just don't get it. The flavors don't blend well. Poke bowl: new item! Very fresh and good! Also, SO affordable! Tomato basil bisque soup: light and creamy consistency. Tangy with a hint of pepper and some minced onions. Very good! I LOVEEE getting the beef bowl here. It tastes amazing and they make it pretty quick too. Rain cafe is located in side the main Asian Market so it is very convenient if you are shopping there. I typically place an order online and go in person to pick it up. This is comparable to the boba shops back in Southern California. I love that they have so much variety in their drinks and also their food. They even have poke which is unique! Not only this place is a great study spot, you won't even have to fight for seats since this place is HUGE! I got the caramelized matcha latte which is new on their menu. It was not too sweet even when the cashier said that they could not reduce sweetness due to it being caramelized. I tried the lychee green tea too and you can actually taste the lychee flavor which was good! Keep in mind that they charge for no ice which was weird. It was just too cold in Seattle to get anything with ice really! :( Food selection was huge. I got to try their popcorn chicken and beef bowl. Beef bowl was hearty and filling. The egg in the middle popped and the egg itself made the beef bowl so creamy and delicious. Beef texture was a tad overdone in my opinion but the creamy egg and flavorful rice perfectly balanced everything out. The popcorn chicken is definitely different than the ones back in SoCal. It was fried with panko bread crumbs but nevertheless, it was good to try. Once it gets cold, its not as good so you have to hurry up and eat. Both of their food choices have huge portions so its easy to share a few dishes if you come here with friends! If not, one portion is enough to fill you up! Service at Rain Cafe was standard. Nothing amazing to mention as the employees were attentive when I asked them for some extra bowls and forks. Overall, this place is good if you need to get some work done. I really want to love this place - spacious, homey vibe with free wifi and plenty of outlets that makes for a great place to study or get some work done, but the food and drinks are average at best. I got the minced pork rice and rose milk tea, and I've tried the lavender milk tea at their belltown location once and they were just meh. The pork was on the sweeter side not what I expected. And drinks tasted ok, a bit bland and too sweet even at 50% sugar, would recommend tone it down to 25% if you're like me who doesn't like their drinks too sweet. There's also a piano which I recently saw where anybody can go and play. This was a great little find. Everything was super socially distanced out. I loved the flavor of my iced matcha milk tea. You can vary the sweetness but I just kept mine original and it was delicious. The cups were super cute and the service was quick and friendly. The music was a little bit on the louder side, but other than that, it was a great place to catch up on some homework. They do have booth seating which made it feel more private/ distanced from other customers. Staff were wearing masks. The prices here are super reasonable compared to downtown Seattle and you really get your money's worth. Ramen Burger This was my first time trying a ramen burger and I was quite excited. The ramen is fairly soft & not as crispy as you'd expect. It wasn't the best burger I've had but definitely interesting. The option of adding fries for only $1 makes it worth a try! Rainbow Sushi Burrito Absolutely delicious. I've been wanting to try one for awhile and this definitely lived up to the hype. The sauces are phenomenal and the salmon in this was cooked to perfection. The seaweed is a bit thick, and the burrito was a bit small but this is a must-try! Royal California Roll Great value item. The sushi is pretty good and you get 4 HUGE rolls for like $6. Although it's an appetizer, it'll definitely be able to almost fill you up. Popcorn Chicken & Fried Shrimp Taro Balls These items were whatever to me. I didn't enjoy the shrimp balls at all. The popcorn chicken was decent but definitely have had better. Do not recommend. Summary: This should not be called "Rain Cafe" but rather "Scam Cafe", where everything is either cut in half or watered down 2x We ordered the Takoyaki, which according to the menu is "8 pcs for $6.95". However, upon consumption, we realized that it was not 8 whole pieces of Takoyaki, but rather 8 half-sized pieces. Meaning this was actually more like "4 pcs for $6.95". Taste was alright (4/10) as it tasted like microwaved frozen Takoyaki. The rose milk tea was so watered down it didn't taste like either rose, milk, or tea. It tasted like someone took a standard rose milk tea base and made a 1 part base/1 part water beverage... The minced pork rice bowl was the highlight, as the pork pieces weren't super minced so there was still some good texture and the sauce was balanced between sweet/salty.
