A phenomenal stylist!…read more Just relocated back to Sarasota from Los Angeles after 20+ years. One of my top concerns was finding a stylist. Scott was one of many referrals I received and I am grateful to have chosen him as the first to try. My cut and color is awesome! Scott's talent rivals the talent of any LA hair stylist. Particularly, his approach to color. It is truly a form of art to pull off shading and coloring that is strategically placed to enhance a cut or feature around the face. Most importantly, I felt comfortable with Scott. He is a genuine person, has a great personality, and really cool low-key vibe in his studio. The pricing was very reasonable for the individuality of the cut and color. I have definitely found my new stylist in Sarasota. Came home and threw away the referral list!

Let me first say I have been following my hair stylist, Lindsey Heigert from one salon to another…read more The last place she was working at, I had gone to because I love her work on my hair, but the owner was not nearly so pleasant to interact with as Michael is. She started working at Michael Urban Hair Studio months ago and I have been coming every few months now to get my hair done. I hope she will stay at this salon for a while because, while I will follow her wherever she goes, this is a great salon in my opinion. She is fantastic, and such a doll, but Michael is a great guy himself- I have seen him work on several clients in the chair over from me and thus far I have not seen nor heard any complaints. He also invites a lot of conversation with me and my other half when we are in the salon, and he is always happy to chit-chat. I have no complaints whatsoever about my experiences there so far. The environment is classy, sophisticated, yet modern and very inviting. They are all really relaxed, friendly people. Michael, Paul and Lindsey are wonderful (current staff.) All three keep me entertained throughout the whole visit, however long, and are extremely personable- Lindsey and I have known each-other for about a year or so and as I mentioned I followed her from her last place of work. Price point for hair is not breaking the bank. I don't go as often as I should to keep up with the colors I like to have done, I get color done, cut and shampoo, but that aside, it is not as expensive as I have seen other places as high quality and professional as this salon. Very professional services and business-place, I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for gorgeous work- dyed hair, cuts, etc. Lindsey is on Facebook and has some pictures of her past work, I believe including my hair, I'm certain some of it is displayed on her professional page, I'm not certain I have any decent pictures i'd like to add to this review but if you find Michaels Urban Hair Studio on Facebook you'll get a taste of the place- some more pictures, etc. Other reviews as well. Truly a great place, and I am SO looking forward to my next visit in a month or two. I can't make this a huge review because I would just be repeating myself a million times- it's simply an awesome, inviting salon with great employees and owner. Can't wait for my next visit!

WHY did I continue to use Michael? He is funny & endearing. But he certainly cant cut hair. This past time, he made a mess of the cut. I called him to redo the damage he had done. As always he is charming & gracious he cut it WORSE than before!!! That is the last time for me.

This Great Clips location is, for lack of a better term, GREAT!!!…read more Brief Summary: Finding the right place to get your hair cut can be tricky sometimes. You always want to get a good haircut, but, you don't necessarily want to go through 15 horrifyingly bad haircuts either while you try to find the right place and person. Thankfully, I lucked out and stumbled upon this Great Clips. It's small, clean, modern, and the staff is terrific. Definitely a place worth checking out. Would I Recommend This Business? Yes! Service, Staff, and Location: Located in Lakewood Ranch, this location is perfect due to its proximity to residential areas and to the local Publix. Service here is always top notch, mainly due to the amazing staff. I've been going here for about 5 years now, and their team is always great. Everyone is super friendly and fun to talk to. My personal hair stylist, Alyssa, is absolutely incredible. I've been going to her since day one, and I always look a million times better when I leave than when I came in! Kudos to the whole team at this location! Final Thoughts: I always used to cut my own hair. My thinking was always, "It's cheaper!". But cheaper isn't always better. After going here several years ago for what was supposed to be just a one time haircut, I ended up coming back every month and never cutting my hair again! This Great Clips location has turned, what used to be, a daunting monthly task for me into something I look forward to each month. That alone should speak towards the quality of this location and the staff that work here. Final Scores: Service/Staff/Location - 5/5 Total - 5/5 Stay fresh Mother Fooders! :p

They also have coupons occasionally that you can get by email or online. The downside of this store is that the have a high turnover of barbers, so I've rarely had the same barber twice.
