The Details: I booked Fringe after finding them on Yelp they have a ton of great reviews there aaaaand I was able to get in pretty quickly. It was destiny. So I find the cute little tucked away salon and am greeted by an elegant, well styled gentlemen. His energy was spot on- friendly, professional, enthusiastic, positive. Just visited Danielle again. Honestly she gives the Best color, best cut and best blow dry of anyone I have ever had do my hair. I have been going to her for several years but admittedly I have gone to others before we sold our Pennsylvania home and also when I am providing care to my mom in her home north of Tampa. I contacted the owner of the salon to request a refund. Casey (their senior stylist) botched my hair color. It was truly horrific. I was in tears over the damage, contacted a number of different stylists to see what could be done. It was apparent that the damage would be nearly impossible to reverse. The owner of the salon, Roger, was very nice and wanted to do everything possible to remedy the situation. He spoke with Casey and told me she felt horrible and wanted to do right by me. So we arranged to have her fix it, with the promise that she wouldn't cause anymore damage and stick with the formula my usual hairdresser back in Las Vegas recommend. I spoke with her the day she was suppose to fix it and her attitude couldn't have been more bitter. I decided it was best not to have her touch my head again. ROGER SHOWED GENUINE CONCERN AND WANTED TO DO EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. In the end, HE ISSUED ME A FULL REFUND AND APOLOGIZED PROFUSELY. My review is strictly based on my experience with Casey. I cannot comment on the rest of the staff. I can say now, a week after my botched color job, I did find an amazing stylist at a different salon in Sarasota that fixed it. Please ask if you would like to know who and where. read more

Checked yelp for a salon to try and found Fringe . My stylist was Magda. She listened to my needs, took her time and did an EXCELLENT job. I had previously went to another Sarasota salon where the stylist basically gave me thick stripes in my hair. Now imagine bleach blonde hair with dark brown stripes...ya not a good look. I tried that stylist again but asked her to just put bleach over the stripes in hopes to get rid of them. Well that didn't fix it and I felt very unheard. I explained in depth what I wanted and I hated my hair. Back to the good stuff: Magda took my hair back to the color I was used to, a cool blonde with light low lights!! Thank goodness....also Fringe is in an old house which was super cute and reminded me of my childhood home back in Michigan. All the stylists seemed down to earth, friendly and up beat! I will DEFINITELY be back! P.S. I'd like to add that I read a recent bad review about this salon and paid the customer back that you shouldn't go and give a 1 Star review...you may have had a bad experience however the business tried to make it right. ZERO STARS. HORRIBLE experience for my daughter and for me. This was suppose to be her birthday present but DANIELLE ruined it. My daughter went in Fringe Salon wanting a cut and a new rose gold color. Danielle talked her out of it because it would be "very expensive ($250) and hard to do." She ignored my daughter question about a root touch up but insisted on highlights saying she preferred more natural colors. Danielle never talked price or offered a partial highlight, and should've realized cost was an issue. When asked about price, she only said it would be "a lot." Danielle did an unnecessary Olaplex treatment - Cha-Ching! (those are unnecessary for highlights BTW). Then when she realized how much hair my daughter had she said it would be $300, which is now more than the color my daughter originally wanted. BTW... their site says a full highlight w long hair starts at $130!) Now it's more than doubled??? To not discuss a price upfront is underhanded. Even a mechanic discusses and give you a price for what he's going to do to your car before he fixes it. I contacted the salon about the costs and after the conversation w the owner, Danielle then proceeded to talk about my conversation and my daughter in the back with another stylist. It's very rude and unprofessional to talk about this while her client is still there AND can hear her. It took 5 hours. Her highlights have never taken that long. My daughter's hair is now several different shades of blonde and is not crazy about it. This was a complete waste of "A LOT" of money and time, and now my daughter has to find someone who can actually give her what she wanted. Going to a salon should make you feel good and you should leave feeling pretty; NOT like you've been ripped off, badgered, and forced to do something you didn't want to do. read more

I made my appointment at Fringe based on the reviews I found here. It was very easy to find and the place was really clean and quaint. I hate those huge salons where you just feel like another number to them. This was the opposite feeling. Danielle was a really sweet lady. It took about 3 1/2 hours to do my hair - which was a little longer than I expected and probably longer than she expected as well LOL ... but she took her time and really fixed my hair and brought it back to life. Overall I am really happy with how it turned out. My only dislike, which is probably the same at every salon I've ever gone too, is the unintentional plugs to buy or upgrade stuff. My wife had here first appointment at Fringe this past Saturday. When we arrived, the place was dirty. My wife spoke to the stylist and explained what she wanted including sharing pictures so the stylist would get the full picture. I noticed that there was hair everywhere, including the chair My wife had just sat down in. After 5 hours for a color, highlight and cut, My wife's hair looks nothing like what she wanted or the pictures she shared with the a stylist. Not even close. She asked for highlights and now has white, blonde and brown hair all mixed up like a big mess. As the stylist began to blow out her hair, she began using hair brushes that were full of other people's hair. How disgusting. Almost $400 dollars later, my wife left very upset and emotional because she is extremely unhappy with what the stylist did to her hair. I went to Fringe Salon about 6 mths ago to stylist Danielle. Upon meeting with Danielle I explained how I wanted my hair cut, plus not a lot of layers & provided pictures etc. Danielle insisted I should have short hair. I told her over n over No Short Hair. Well, when she was done I had much shorter hair n a lot of layers. It will take a year or more for my hair to recover from her cut. I have been seeing the same stylist for 8 years. This last year has been full of travel, and it was time to brighten up my hair. I expected more from the reviews. My cut is very cute, but my hair color is not at all what I was explaining or showing photos of. I was asking for my current shade of brunette with lighter blonde balayage. My whole head is now a darker brown with reddish auburn tints - I never even mentioned red and now it's all I can see. I was too shy to say anything about the color at the end of the appointment hoping it was the inside lighting but I dont li it so I'm going to a different salon tomorrow to see if they can fix it. On top of this - I came to this salon because the prices stayed balayage started at $130. Now I have medium length straight healthy hair, I shouldn't have been charged $200 for my color. The haircut was a promotion so it was supposed to be complimentary but now I'm thinking I was charged for both? I have had balayage and a cut for years and it has always come out to $200 for BOTH, not just color. I was shocked at the price. My hair stylist was very friendly and very professional and I liked her personally, but I showed quite a few photos and the color just wasn't even close - although the cut is good. I came as a walk in and informed the stylist that I wasn't hair savvy-bad move. We agreed on two pictures for cut and color and she named a price. A little weary, I called my stepmom to see if the price seemed reasonable. The stylist was telling me that the haircut was complimentary but she would not blow dry or style at that price. We agreed and I went to put an apron on. When I came back to my seat she told me she would do the blow dry and style as well as additional highlights for an additional $40 bringing the total to $200. She told me she didn't realize that the back of my head would need more highlights. I showed her the exact same picture we agreed on and she told me that it was a different picture. When I said I didn't feel comfortable after the price changing and I wasn't sure what I was really getting with the original price, she had the audacity to tell me that other places were way more expensive and she was giving me a deal. On vacation in Sarasota, and I needed a haircut in the worst way... Paul at Fringe salon came to the rescue. He did such a great job of cutting my hair and all its quirky cowlicks. Five-plus weeks later and it is only now beginning to lose its shape. With short hair like mine, I generally get a cut every 3 - 4 weeks. I found this place through its "high" Yelp ratings and am absolutely horrified by this salon. Stay away from this place: - First of all, the salon is dingy, old, tiny and looks like it hasn't been updated since the '70's. - Second, after walking in, I quickly googled reviews of this place to make sure I hadn't mistaken it for another place and saw someone had commented only yesterday that the owner's husband was the one posting all the positive reviews from fake accounts! - the girl who did my hair was Sarah and she made my hair orange from balayage. (When I first expressed that I was unhappy with the results, she said it was because of the salon's lighting.) how can a salon not have good lighting??? - I was charged $575 for the services I had. Now this would have been fine had the prices been discussed in advance with me, but I was charged $190 for balayage which is not priced on the menu. It's very deceptive.
