This store was a interesting find on a recent trip to Stuart. Rag Street Consignment is located in Ocean East Mall on SE Ocean Boulevard. Opened in 2002, Rag Street sells gently used ladies clothing, shoes, designer handbags, jewelry, home goods, decor, and furniture. They add over 500 new items to their sales floor every week so there is always something fresh and new to shop. If you want to consign with them the term is 60 days and you receive 40 percent of the sale price. The shop is set up like a boutique with inviting racks with name brand clothing like Ralph Lauren and Lily Pulitzer. They had good sales all over the store like 60 percent off glassware, a lamp, and select shoes. I especially liked the cute bags. Super unprofessional, rude, and a waste of time. Called in ahead of time to make sure it would be okay to swing by to possibly sell some high end purses to them (LV and Gucci), the woman on the phone said that it was a great time and to come by. I show up with my basket of about 7-10 purses (all designer) and with dust bags/receipts. The woman (the owner) said that she would need to inspect them thoroughly before any offers, which I said I totally understood and asked how long it would be. She told me it would be about 30mins max and I could drop them off or wait for them. I chose to wait just in case she had any questions and I honestly didn't feel too comfortable leaving thousands of dollars in the back room of a store with no security and open to the public. Fast forward about an hour and a half, she still is not done. I ask the other woman at the counter if she knew how much longer it would be and she just shrugged her shoulders and went back to her phone. Another 30 minutes goes by and I haven't heard a word so I walk to the back room and knock on the doorframe (no door) and ask how it's coming along and she hasn't even touched the basket and is sitting down on her phone. I told her I could come back later if that worked better and she said "don't worry, I don't want any of it. It's all damaged and I'm pretty sure they are mostly fakes." Not only did I have the receipts and original dust bags, but I know for a fact she didn't even look at them, as the receipts were still all paper clipped together the way I had them and the bags were in the same place/order I left them. I ended up going down to Palm beach and selling each and every one close to purchase price. Will not be coming to Rag Street again. read more

A number of years ago, I brought quite a lot in on or for consignment. They decided I was too late to come in and pick up the bunny for which they sold my items for so they stole my money. A lot of their selections look like garbage. They are very overpriced. Wouldn't even give the shop one star oh and the service not so good. read more

It was a grey price tag, which meant it was supposed to be 50% off...no coincidence that I didn't get a receipt and the salesperson quickly removed the tag and threw it down behind the counter. I have visited a few times and wasn't impressed by the dated clothing or snobarazzi attitude. read more

I've never had any issues with Rag Street. They have been very courteous and professional. To be honest, I have returned to purchase many items as I've had such a good experience. I don't know why they have been given one stars, however, I can tell you I can't imagine that they deserved that. DO NOT take your clothes to Rag Street to consign them. I had gastric bypass surgery and as a result had a complete wardrobe of 2X and 3X clothing to consign. All of my clothing was name brand and in excellent condition. A lot of the clothing hadn't ever been worn. Per their request, I didn't take all the clothing in at the same time. They charge $25 charge to set up an account and won't cut you a check for less than $25 each month for clothing that has been sold. It's been about 3 months, I've made around $58 TOTAL, and almost all of the clothing I took to them has "disappeared". I feel that they rip off their account customers. Their racks contain almost no large size women's clothing and what is on the racks look well worn. The fact that they turn away great quality clothing is ridiculous. The girls that "choose" the clothing they'll accept are a small size. I really feel that they simply don't want larger size clothing. read more

I have been shopping here for several years. The prices are great but it's the staff that make the store. Alan is by far the nicest person. He remembers your likes and makes great suggestions. Aileen always has a smile and kind words. She also has great style advice. Now the store has been handed off to the next generation. It continues it's great customer service, oh... and the prices remain great as well. The system they use seems to work. They are very snobby and rude in there. They wouldn't take any of my clothes & insisted that in order to take them they needed 15 items that THEY selected! They made up lame excuses about their policy & it was really pathetic. Not to mention.... Their store is completely & entirely HELLA OVERPRICED!!!! It's disgusting. Don't know what the negative reviews on here are about. They probably came in when the previous owner was here. Marilyn is now the owner and she is FABULOUS! Along with all the other ladies who work here. If they were not picky in the items they choose to sell, then you wouldn't be shopping at such a nice consignment shop! I have been to many consignment and thrift stores in Florida and beyond, and many places carry clothing with stains, pilling, holes, and are just out of style. Rag Street does not carry any "overly used" clothing like that and all their pieces are cute and in style. They just expanded the store and even have a men's section! I have been shopping here for years and have collected wonderful designer pieces including Dolce & Gabbana, and multiple pairs of Monolo Blahnik that are to die for. Rag Street deserves 5 Stars plus! Extremely rude service! Over the years and various owners I have shopped at this consignment store with ease and pleasure. Today I decided to try and consign here. I was told ahead of time what time and day to bring my items. I arrived just as told and was turned away before I even made it in the store. The women working in the store turned me away with our hesitation. She wouldn't look the clothing not did she offer to donate them. She was extremely short, rude and lacked any customer service. I will be donating all of the clothing locally and will never shop or consign at this store. I work in sales and understand the importance of customer service and believe in creating a positive environment for my clients. This store should really consider educating there staff on how to treat their customers. Customers are the core any business ! read more

I sold 2 dresses successfully through Rag Street. A month later I consigned a Nordstrom's blouse and some jewelry. I returned to the store the day after the consignment period ended to pick up unsold items, but the blouse was not among them. The saleslady said it had sold, and there would be a check for me on the 15th of the month. I went back on the 15th and was told the blouse had been donated to charity. The salesperson was very, very nasty and kept saying I was hurting her feelings by trying to find out why my consignment had incorrectly been donated. I tried to calm her down by explaining that this was not a personal attack but a business transaction that was handled badly. She finally gave me a few dollars. I told her I would never consign with them again and left the shop. She shouted some nasty names and sarcastic suggestions at me (in front of customers!) as I left. The nicest thing I can say about this store is that they are sometimes inefficient and unprofessional. read more

I consigned some items here & I made a few dollars on top notch things I was selling literally. They don't know the value of things and price them very low so you would do better giving them to a friend in need. The help is sweet but much of the clothing sold is outdated. That's what puzzles me that they turn away the new stuff with tags and take in outdated mdse some of which appears worn. Maybe because the help is older & not fashionistas. Oh, that's right typical of Stuart. Old people mentality. Shoes are pathetic. Furniture can be very nice at times and can be a good value. If you consign, you have to bring a dozen items and if you don't earn at least $25 you have to wait to get a check until your stuff sells. Also, you need to find your clothes when they are ready to be picked up & if they help you find them in the store, you have to pay a few dollars per item to retrieve your belongings. Last time some of mine were in the back room and I wasted over an hour looking. Just visit as a buyer if you need furniture. read more

Not a place I would recommend, only if you are lucky! I have taken clothes in for the first time. New, slightly used clothing. And they lost 3 items in the store. And called me next day to say come in for check. So I did, and they said they had nothing for me, I would have to come back next month. Well when I did they could only find one item that was to be paid. So getting my clothes back was not happening. And they said it was on mark down. And you have no idea when they have sales on your items. the entire store has had 50% off on special occasions, I was told! Well that is not what was said when I left my clothes there. So it was a very bad experience for me. One that is not going to let me recommend anyone to sell or buy there! They change like the wind on their words. So business like this fail in the personality test. I will go elsewhere! They were rude like the others said. Like they did not care, you were not worth being kind too, attitude.
