Radiation Records in Anaheim is an absolute nightmare. The owner is a sad, miserable, annoying little man with a huge attitude problem, and he runs this shop like a scam. The records are overpriced, often damaged or low-quality, and he couldn't care less about customers. It's one thing to be unpleasant, everyone has off days (though by the looks of previous reviews on here; that's everyday at Radiation), but it's another to knowingly rip people off and sell junk at inflated prices. Save yourself the headache and go literally anywhere else; there are countless record stores in Anaheim with actual inventory, quality control, and staff who don't treat customers like garbage. My rating for this place is purely based on my personal taste in music. As most people indicated this is a great place if you are into punk and metal. If you want a wider selection of genre you may want to check out Burger Records on State College Blvd. This is a pretty small place but it's super packed with used and new vinyl records, shirts, and memorabilia. I think I even saw some cassettes. Only bad thing is it's difficult to browse because everything is so cramped, especially the shirts. I can spend hours browsing here but had to cut short on my first visit. I will definitely come back to go through more bins next time. On my first visit I purchased albums by Joy Division and B-Movie. Latter is rather difficult to find so I was surprised to see this place carry anything by this one hit wonder band from the 80s. Can't comment on service because I didn't ask for any. It's a punk record store so I wasn't expecting any friendly greeting or assistance. It's located in an industrial business complex next to Allstate. You'll just see the symbol for radiation on the facade. read more

Nat (the owner) is the type of entitled jerk who thinks he's doing you a favor and doesn't even thank the customers. they get a pretty good selection of LPs, so it's not enough to prevent me from shopping there, but it's enough to only go when Mike is working. i've never spent less than $100 there and it sucks when the owner doesn't even appreciate your business. read more

I've shopped here before and had a good experience. I came in this time with the intent to sell some cd's and records. I walk in the door, no greeting, just a look. Cool, I went to look around at some records first. About 15 mins in, I heard a kid come in with a stack of CDs and records which he wanted to sell. The clerk told him to leave them to the side and he would come and take a look at em. So a few minutes later, I hear the guy going through this kid's CDs. This dude would just open the case, look at the cd and toss it to the side without any care not knowing if the costumer was going to say yes or no. So the guy looks at everything and tells the kid he can only give him X amount because alot of the stuff he brought was "junk" and "it's not worth anything on discogs". The guy looked bummed out but Surprisingly he agreed and the clerk handed him $5 and some singles. Highway robbery. At this point I knew I wasn't going to trade my stuff with this guy. I spent a few more mins looking at records and picked one to buy. Went to the counter and gave the record to the guy. Cash or card? Card. So I give him the card, he puts the record down and I sign the scanner. He then says "thanks" and as I'm grabbing the record, he takes the card off the scanner and flings it on the record. I tell him thanks and not a word. Walked out with a totally different opinion of this place. They have a good selection of vinyl reissues, some original stuff and even patches and pins but costumer service is trash. I'll have to agree to some of the 1 star reviews on this one. I've been to plenty of record shops and I've never had someone be so unhelpful with a shitty attitude. Clean up your place and your attitude. read more

You'd have a hard time finding a record shop quite like Radiation. They've got a great selection of reasonably priced music, and approximately 3.9 million T-shirts. I spent two hours on my first visit, barely perusing a tenth of their selection. But that's the thing: you have to commit to a place like Radiation Recs. They're like a meticulously curated museum to music (punk, hardcore, metal, etc.). The only downside to this place is that it wasn't around when I was a teenager. Went to this shop for the 1st time. After reading a few reviews, no clue as to why people complained. Yes, it appeared cluttered, but... that clutter was due to the huge collection of records they carry. I thought the prices were very reasonable. Found records there that I've been looking for and either didn't find them at other shops, or were priced way higher than this place. The staff greeted us right away, knew the inventory they had (asked for certain things and knew they had or didn't have them) and assisted us with a quick and easy check out. Only problem was if we spent more time than we did, would have spent a lot more money. Walked out with 5 albums, and a shirt. They threw in an anniversary shirt (their 20th) and a shopping bag. This place is cool! I don't know what everyone is talking about when they say the customer service is bad, but this ain't hot topic. You go in look for treasures and pay. That's it. No hassle, no one bugging you or starring you down like a criminal. Some records are high priced but others are moderately priced. The place is jam packed full of music vinyls,shirts,pins,DVDs (live concerts),cd's and cassette tapes. I left super happy with what I found. So I've heard of this place for years and since I was in town yesterday I finally hit it up. When you walk in it is basically the Fort Knox of all things that IS PUNK. Literally more punk gear, vinyl and cd's than even SATAN himself could store in his infinite, hellish moms basement! It took me 2 hours to sort from A thru z of all the used LP's. I've been hitting up Dr.Strange for 25 years and love them; but Radiation just has everything and the prices are so damn good! The owner Gnat is cool and all these wankers crying about customer service must be lames. It's a DIY underground record shop; not Best Buy. If you know what you want and what you are looking for, the staff will point you in the right direction. While I was here all sorts of dumbasses rolled in asking dumb questions and leaving; I'd imagine dealing with broke little anarcho-commies wanting to spend their $20 weekly allowance on patches would get annoying day in and day out haha. I ended up replenishing all my missing CONFLICT LPs I've lost over the last 25 years and the prices were LEGIT; not to mention they got a fuck ton of great Oi / streetpunk, black metal and new arrivals. Literally I had to leave this place before I went over my $200 budget which is easy to do if you got great taste in music like I do. Gnat hooked it up with some free tote bags told me to join their mailing list for future info. If you're into punk music, you've probably not even explored 10% of what this punk-focused vinyl record store has. Incredible to see the focus of the genre so on point here from 77 UK, US hardcore, and Japan imports, metal, and 7"s, this place has so much punk music it's crazy. Great prices, and just really impressive selection of rarities, bootlegs, and obscure gems. The owner has had the shop for 17 years and they do lots of Discogs orders. Kinda a tight squeeze inside, but it's gives the feeling of really being submerged in the supermarket fantasy of punk rock record paradise. read more

If i could give a no star review then that would be my choice. As previously said by others in their reviews it's the attitude of the owners/staff. I bought online. Paid for the record,the shipping but then VAT/TAX was added because records where to be sent to Europe. Okay cool, this would mean i don't have to pay the VAT at the border. Except they never paid the VAT or filled in the VAT form to go on the parcel. My record was held hostage at the border and i was told that if i didn't pay the VAT record would be sent back. Various attempts to contact Radiation have been ignored. eventually after clicking "Seller Not Responding" i got a 5 word reply telling me they're not responsible for VAT.... Er, of course you are if you take the cash for it. This is not some sort of free extra income is it? Of course not. It's the unwillingness to have any sort of dialog that frustrates. After reading other reviews on here this does not surprise me........... Never again and .. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU..... my advice would be SHOP ELSEWHERE read more

Great shop. Definitely one of the best punk record stores in SoCal. Collectors stuff is priced fairly (the going rate) plus they get a lot of new releases. They're always getting in a ton of new stuff so it's worth checking out pretty frequently. Also, they pay out pretty well for used records. I've sold punk records to several stores for years now (Radiation, Dr. Strange, Amoeba, Vinyl Solution, etc...) and I usually stick with here and Dr. Strange. They pay out a decent amount and have enough new stuff coming in where you will always find something to use your credit on. LOL at the reviewers complaining about bad customer service. Had to take off a star for bad service, everytime I go its an uncomfortable awkward feeling but just know what you want and be very clear and to the point when you ask for something and you'll be fine. Other than that they have a great selection of RECORDS great prices on a variety of STUDS, lots and lots of PATCHES, T-SHIRTS and STICKERS. One of my favorite record stores in Orange County by far. Good selection of punk and totally fair pricing. Admittedly, I've been short on spending money and haven't been here in a while, but I'm pretty sure they'll let you bring in any shirt, go through their catalog with thousands of available screens, and they print whatever design you choose right on your t-shirt of choice. This is awesome for getting one of a kind Discharge or ABCDiabolo polos, or maybe even recreating the infamous Man is the Bastard/Hello Kitty shirt. An awesome little find next door to the Anaheim Scout Shop, of all places. Picked up my son's Cub Scout uniform -- and then stopped off next door for a Black Flag bootleg. Not bad. The shop is small and cluttered. They do screen printing in the back, so there are boxes stacked in most places. Awesomely large selection of new 7-inches. OK selection of new CDs, mostly bootlegs from the look of it, as well as a local label that seems to traffic in crust. We didn't spend a ton of time scoping out more beyond the new 7-inches, but I picked up a single and a couple of live bootleg CDs for not much money. The guy behind the counter was pretty friendly. Between this, Black Hole, and Burger, you should be pretty set for your punk and hardcore records needs in Fullerton. A great shop to have stumbled across! I'll go back, for sure. read more

I moved to Orange County from Minneapolis, where I got into the punk scene via Extreme Noise, Profane Existence, Havoc Records, and Dillinger Four, so I was pretty spoiled. I didn't know what I would find as far as punk record stores were concerned, and was maybe just a little worried about finding a lot of leopard print and Mike Ness worship. Not the case at Radiation. The place is real small but jam packed with awesome. Record prices suggest that they know what they have (typically a knowledgable shop is a good shop) but aren't trying to rip anyone off. I bought four What Happens Next? 7"s, a Crudos/MK-Ultra split and a Nice View 7" for $50, but not before putting back a ton of other great stuff I found (Neurosis Aberration EP on Lookout! for $12).
