Bought a set of 700 dollar roof racks for my car, brought them home, got them put on, and they didn't work for my vehicle. Brought them back and was told "installed" items couldn't be returned. I kept all the boxes, all the instructions, everything. Like anyone out there is gonna buy 700 dollar racks, not take them out of the box, then return them 7 days later. Somewhat hidden in the industrial zone, however, this place has attachments for your vehicle like I have never seen. They carry brands which are legit good or better quality. As long as you know the make, model, and year of your vehicle they can accommodate what you need. Just be aware that it may be pricey. See photos or visit their website www.racksforcars.com. Awful, I bought a key from them online. And the key didn't work. They didn't want to refund or exchange because apparently there is a policy they have where keys are non-refundable. But the key was garbage, useless. They also had a promo code for spare keys, that I found later, and wanted to use to lower the cost of my loss. They did not want to make it valid. Completely careless, and indifferent, not a person that cares about your situation, rather how much money they can make off of you is what my experience was, there were soo many opportunities to find a solution that could have worked for both of us, but they really wanted to be a stickler for rules and their profit. At first I thought the service was good. They responded quickly to questions but as soon as things changed, it got nasty. BUYER BEWARE. Their sales assistant told me that the unit would fit the truck - I later discovered that it wouldn't without cutting away part of the bed rail panel. I told them to cancel the order - this is when it started to get nasty. They said I have to pay a 5% cancellation fee. This was never brought to my attention during the sale process, I never signed an acknowledgement nor offered terms and conditions. Purchased a Sportrack Roof Box from Racks for Cars, found out the item I purchased would warp every time I opened the box in hot weather, making it almost impossible to load the box without another person holding up the top cover. Reached out to Racks on Cars, and they were not helpful. Not only do they not provide any reasonable policy's around refunds due to issues with the products they sell, but they defer to the manufacturers to provide warranty support. I do not recommending buying from these folks, I would rather purchase from a place like Canadian Tire, Costco, Amazon, etc. read more

I recently bought an Arvika bike rack from Racks For cars. The rack is designed for recreational vehicles and comes in a kit containing 3 different assemblies shipped in two separate boxes. The total cost for the rack was $660.00. Upon opening up the first box it was apparent that one of the plastic parts was broken. After doing a parts inventory i discovered that some additional parts were missing. I informed Rack For Cars and was told I would have to provide a picture of the broken part in order to receive a replacement. No problem, I sent them a picture. They then informed me that it was highly unlikely that the rest of the missing parts were actually missing. It's not really rocket science to ascertain that you have missing parts when assembling a product that comes in kit form. Based on what I spent for the rack I would expect better product support and I am particularly galled at having my veracity questioned. The next time I find a need for these types of products I won't be shopping here. read more

I recently bought a RockyMounts TomaHawk plus two lock core set from Racks for cars. I already had a TomaHawk roof rack and wanted a matching rack and keys. Racks for Cars installed and core on the wrong side and when i removed the core to install it on the correct side i damaged the core. I stopped by Racks for Cars to get a new core and they informed me I would have to buy a 2 core set for $40 to match my existing rack. Yes i damaged the core but Racks for Cars installed the core on the wrong side. Charge me for 1 core or give me a discount, Racks for Cars should installed the lock core in the correct side. I am also a long time customer; I bought Hollywood 4 Bike Rack (currently retails for $850, I'm not sure what i paid 3 years ago), fat bike tire adapters and 2 RockyMounts TomaHawk ($230 ea plus 2 lock core sets $40 ea). Moving forward i'll shop around, Racks for Cars isn't the only shop in town. read more

Racks for Cars on Calgary Trail is a great shop for any type of Basket, Rack, carriers etc! I have been going to them for years now and their staff are always friendly, helpful and reliable! I have had a couple of instances where I needed to return some items that I purchased from them and they have always accepted my returns for a full refund. When I had Warranty needs with a Thule product they dealt with the Warranty issue that day and in 24 hours I had a brand new replacement! I bought THULE Force XT L last month (20210610) from Racks For Cars Edmonton South Alberta Canada, couple of days ago I went for camping and hiking trip 1st time and passenger side lock stuck. Lock is not moving and key stuck in the lock, inside lock mechanism not engaged that's why I borrow strap from neighbor camper drove 1 hr to nearest town to buy strap. Ordered a bike rack online but when I realized they would not deliver in a timely manner I tried to cancel. Their policy states full refund prior to 14 days. I cancelled my order after 12 days however the company demanded a $50 cancellation fee even though they have not shipped a thing, have zero stock, is within the 14 day return policy. What a complete garbage business. Do not deal with them. Deal with more customer focused and friendly businesses. Why waste your time with this company when most companies will offer headache free returns, cancellations, and services. May 15 I took my truck to Racks for Cars - I explained I needed a rack for an 18 ft canoe and a slalom kayak - which requires at least a 36 in spacing to protect the carbon cockpit and racks high enough for the canoe to sit above the canopy. I was assured Thule racks on my cab would do all that. I was never shown their return policy (not returns on installed items) as this all took place in their parking lot due to covid - except two phone calls from the sales person who went inside and then called to get my credit card number. When I saw the racks installed it was obvious they were too close together and not high enough for the canoe stern to sit above the canopy. I told the salesan - he said, "I thought they would be higher". My mastercard is disputing the charge with them - they have lied several times to them - telling them I ordered it over the phone and was told the return policy, that I ordered it online (I know contradicting themselves) and should have seen the return policy online and that I sent them a photo of the canoe on the racks to show how satisfied I was with the racks - when in fact I sent them the photo to show the rear rack didn't support the canoe (they sent a poor quality copy of the photo to mastercard where you could not see this). When I told them that the canoe would rest on the canopy one salesman said, "well you could carry the canoe upside down" - there was considerably more discussion along this vein after I said, "I'm sorry but you will have to take this back" - finally I swore and said "just take the ;;;;;;ing rack off" - I was then told to leave - I said well at least take it off or you will have to come and get it" . the manager said "we will". So the epic continues. Canadian Tire Master Card has been very helpful - I guess I should write a review of them. read more

I am reviewing their business practices and I would like to rate them less than 1. I purchased base clips for a roof rack that they listed on their website. The listing stated cheekily (yes, they are really in stock). Once I purchased, I received an email cancelling the order and giving the option of getting the 2 base clips worth $75 a piece if I purchased a $700 roof rack system. I called and was told that yes, the clips that I purchased from the website were, in fact, in stock, but that they would not sell them to me without the entire system. If that's the case, why are they listed for purchase separately on the site? Sounds like a bait and switch or a classic upsell to me. I would recommend this place except for one big beware. I paid $899 for a top-end Thule rack, and when they offered to assemble it for another $41.25 I agreed, since it was a gift. Later when I went on the Thule website I learned the rack I bought came pre-assembled and could be installed straight out of the box. When I complained about this they said the charge was also for demonstrating how to use the rack. Ouch. When I pay $899 for a bike rack the least the store should do is include a free lesson in how to install and use it. So don't get sucked in. For comparison, I paid a similar amount at a bike store for my wife's bike and that included a year of free maintenance. read more

There are companies that are hurting and shutting their doors because of the pandemic and then there are companies actually taking advantage of others. We purchased a bike carrier yesterday - they installed it on our car because they already had it put together for another customer...so we purchased it because it was easier. I bought only to realize we could have got it shipped to us for $300 cheaper from another Canadian company... THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS CHEAPER. Racks for Cars in Edmonton has jacked up prices so much that even some other accessories are $200 more than other Edmonton based companies. I can't believe that a local company would be this inconsiderate. They won't take the rack back and they won't price match. They won't do anything actually and it's really disappointing. I am sharing this because I want to make sure others don't fall victim to over pricing. I wish I had been better at doing my due diligence but we had purchased from this company before and had good service. I am frustrated that companies are taking advantage of customers. Place is a scam; i asked for a rack to mount on my vehicle - based on the vehicle they recommended a specific rack. I bought it, took it home, tried to mount it and it didn't fit safely. I took the rack back to Racks For Cars, and they said they don't accept used returns. I said the only reason the box was opened was to see if it fits, and since it didn't i was bringing it back. Do not buy from this store. I just purchased a Thule stroller from this store yesterday. Found it cheaper at United Cycle and asked if they would do a price match. Melissa from Racks for Cars stated they won't price match items that are apparently not in stock at United Cycle and then informed me that if I returned the stroller to their store to buy elsewhere they would charge a 20% restocking fee. I asked to speak to manager Mike to which she responded "he is really busy today so it just depends." Are you kidding me?! Obviously customers are NOT appreciated in this store. Love this location on 104th Street, their customer service is fantastic. I purchased a rack from them back in June of 2015, which they help me install. Then when a part broke on the rack, last year, they quickly order it so I could have a working rack with little delay. Today, I called the store and Dustin was there to quickly help take care of another matter that came up with damage to my rack, from a theft of my bike. Thank you Racks For Cars!!! Horrible customer service once they have your money. Make sure to read your final bill well as they will charge you fees that were not discussed. If you are not satisfied with your items they will do nothing to rectify the situation. My advice is order it online - there are enough canadian companies that will ship items to you for free.
