The facility was perfect for my family. Independent living in a wonderful apartment at a very safe location. Staff is very responsive to the needs of the residents, and are flexible to change as those needs increases as they age. The base price includes meals, weekly apartment cleaning and laundry service, and transportation around town. It's a family-run facility and the buildng and grounds are kept in great shape, very clean. I was routinely impressed with the variety of daily activities and gatherings for the residents, as well as how fun they made each holiday through decorations and special events. I would especially like to shout out the food service - 3 rotating main course choices for every dinner, with standard items always available like a steak or a hamburger. Dorie worked closely with me to find the right home care aide who "clicked" with my dad. My parents recently move up to this area so in addition to dealing with losing some of his independence, he has constant shoulder and hip pain, a history of falls, and some degree of dementia. He knows when he is having difficulty finding the words to express himself, but he is no fool. Scott is my dad's home care aide and has been working with him since July 2015. Scott and my dad are really a good team. He treats my dad with respect, interacts well with my dad, does all the balance and leg strengthening exercises that I have set up and has even incorporated additional exercises to help my dad's arm pain and weakness. Both my parents feel that Scott consistently provides good care and challenges my dad to be more active than he may feel that he wants to be. I feel that with Scott my dad is always safe and that Scott has my dad's best interests at heart. Our family is very happy with the care that my dad is receiving. Then in early 2024, I needed hip replacement surgery. My wife has dementia, so I hired CFTH to take care of my wife, expecting to be able to come back home after 4 days in a skilled nursing facility. I had major setbacks and spent 2 full months in the hospital. Thankfully, I returned home to a wife that had been extraordinarily well cared for during my unexpected absence. It proved to be very difficult giving myself these shots. My daughter suggested I find an at-home nursing service that could help give me the shots. Fortunately, I discovered Care From the Heart, and Nurse Jackie. She was available on very short notice to come to my home and help. What a relief. From her first visit she was professional, caring, sympathetic, and efficient. She came everyday to administer my shot, in the arm and leg. She was very good and administered my daily shots almost painlessly. Such a relief. I would recommend Care from the Heart for any in-home nursing needs.

First, the caregivers themselves were warm, well-screened, and very patient and loving with our mom and dad -- both of whom had different needs over time. I became very fond of the caregivers, and we got to interview each of them ~ One of the caregivers was with me (and my dad), when my dad passed away. She was so good to me, and him -- I know being there at his passing has affected us both. We have stayed in touch. Second, the office staff were so helpful even on short notice, and with special requests and any changes to schedules. They just worked with me when we had to deal with (a rare) ill or unavailable angel, to get coverage. I do trust the owners, and spoke with them directly about our needs and about individual caregivers. While it was outside my bailiwick, I only wish they provided benefits (such as healthcare) to their workers, and maybe that is something the agency can consider in the future. The owners seem like good people, and caring towards as well as protective of their employees.

I am way overdue sharing my thoughts about De Un Amor in Corralitos…read more Our mother moved into the facility in mid 2019 after stays at some SNF's in the Santa Cruz/Watsonvile area. She was suffering from Parkinson's disease then had some falls resulting in to two incidences of broken hips. Needless to say, a really rough time previous to her arriving at De Un Amor, but once there things smoothed out greatly for her. I really can't say enough about how much we appreciated our mom being in such a pleasant place. The facility itself is bright and inviting; and the outside grounds with an orchard one side and a creek on the other is so very nice. The staff are all very kind, attentive and caring toward the residents and visitors. When I first visited De Un Amor I said to the owner, Trygve, "I want to live here"; to which he laughed and commented, "everyone says that." So in summation I guess the best I can say about the place is that I would be content to have my sunset there.
