During her stay, she lost a considerable amount of weight, and although her surgical wound had healed, she developed bed sores on the bottoms of her feet and lower back that were not properly communicated to us (the family.) We witnessed isolation, rough handling, poor hygiene, poor communication, and lack of compassion. The food was poor, and staff often took a very long time to respond, sometimes hours. She was also frequently in a very deep sleep during the day, which raised concerns about possible overmedication. Her clothes went missing, staff would turn off her cell phone, and with her TV not working, she was left even more isolated. Vulnerable patients deserve dignity, attentive care, hygiene, and transparency with family. That was not our experience. Sally

It proved to be very difficult giving myself these shots. My daughter suggested I find an at-home nursing service that could help give me the shots. Fortunately, I discovered Care From the Heart, and Nurse Jackie. She was available on very short notice to come to my home and help. What a relief. From her first visit she was professional, caring, sympathetic, and efficient. She came everyday to administer my shot, in the arm and leg. My colleague was let go because she questioned these practices! She has been a RN for 40 plus years and has never seen a facility ran as poorly as this one! Do Not send your loved ones here even if it's the last place on this earth! She has turned them into the State Board for unprofessionalism and falsified documentation! In addition to feeling good about their care--it's a nice place to be, it really does have an at-home family feel. After my first visit I had some tears in my eyes on my way out and I could see a lot of care in the faces of everyone I passed who worked there, which was really nice to experience as I feel a lot of care facilities I've visited lack that down-to-earth humanitarian feel. I visited the Dominican Hospital ER on 8/26/26 experiencing throat closing, lip swelling, facial…read moreswelling, and a spreading rash that began at a visible bite wound on my finger. I have a known bee allergy and a history of severe reactions to spider bites requiring urgent care as a child which was brought up to Dr.Seatherton who insisted it was unrelated to my visit. Dr. Seatherton dismissed my allergy history entirely, told me my bite wound was unrelated to my systemic reaction, and diagnosed me with poison oak dermatitis despite no known poison oak exposure. My discharge paperwork listed 'itching sensation of throat' -- not the throat closing and difficulty swallowing I actually reported. Nurses confirmed my lips and face were visibly swollen. I was sent home without an EpiPen, without oral steroids, and without an allergist referral -- despite presenting with classic anaphylaxis symptoms. I was given an acid reflux pill for my throat closing. The following morning my reaction had spread to my face and chest. I am now pursuing follow up care to address what was missed. Patients with known allergies deserve to have their history taken seriously. I hope this feedback helps improve care for future patients in similar situations.

She also left me with the tools to keep working on rehab myself (they have an app with exercises that you can follow along), and she taught me a lot in our 1:1 sessions. My past experiences with physical therapy had been less than stellar, so I did not have a lot of enthusiasm about once again putting in the time and energy. But Dr. Cynthia Mack at DeWitt PT was so effective helping me recover fully from a broken foot that I asked if she could help with my sacroileac/sciatic pain. She taught me simple exercises to do myself that solved the problem. I realize that this sounds too good to be true, but it is. Anyway, I decided to then tackle a decades-old problem of stiffness, pain, and limited mobility in my neck and shoulders due to a yoga injury. Dr. Mack taught me simple exercises that I do when I'm watching TV, and helpful tips for alignment when I swim or do sit-ups.
