I went to Dewitt for 8 weeks after a disclocated shoulder injury from surfing. My PT was so helpful, she worked me through a program of various mobility, stability, and strength exercises and got my back to yoga and surfing with more confidence. She also left me with the tools to keep working on rehab myself (they have an app with exercises that you can follow along), and she taught me a lot in our 1:1 sessions. The people at DeWitt are highly-trained professionals with a lot to teach about how your body works. My past experiences with physical therapy had been less than stellar, so I did not have a lot of enthusiasm about once again putting in the time and energy. But Dr. Cynthia Mack at DeWitt PT was so effective helping me recover fully from a broken foot that I asked if she could help with my sacroileac/sciatic pain. She taught me simple exercises to do myself that solved the problem. I realize that this sounds too good to be true, but it is. Anyway, I decided to then tackle a decades-old problem of stiffness, pain, and limited mobility in my neck and shoulders due to a yoga injury. Thanks, Nikki!!! I now have severe tendinitis from your "hip stretches'. FIVE dislocations!!!!! There was nothing wrong with the implant. You KNEW I was hypermobile, but you gave me hip stretches????? I was never offered ultrasound or E.M.S. I never received more than 15 mins. of "therapy." I have to include the fact that they lied blatantly about this exercise to my surgeon. Told him I "did it wrong." Isn't it the PT's responsibility to see that it is being done correctly? I guess I just forgot (NOT.) I have noticed that the positive reviews are all about how "nice" someone is.. or other completely irrelevant B.S. COMPETENCE is more important than a smile!!! I've known Ryan a long time long before he has his own practice. As friends, I thought I knew Ryan as one of the nicest, coolest guys I have ever met but I didn't understand how that translated into his professional passion as a physical therapist. I wish I came to him pre-emptively and just looked at my body mechanics to correct physical inadequacies that I had. If I did, I would probably not have gotten injured playing basketball. I probably grew up like most kids who are fairly active and start sports at a young age. I never really got instruction on how to do compound lifts correctly. Around a bunch of guys, it's less about correct mechanics and more about being big and bad. Injury prevention..what's that? I could do iron mans, I could dunk, I could serve a tennis ball anywhere, what did I know or care about taking care of my body when you're 20? Well, now that I know better, any healthy active person should see a physical therapist, especially Ryan just to get squared away mechanically to train for physical literacy. My future kids will definitely be doing this. That said, I'm grateful to have him in my corner to help me come off ACL reconstruction surgery as well as improve my hip/back/squat techniques. He introduced me to rollers as well. What's been huge as well is his guidance in getting a 2nd opinion on my knee. I have a lot of ligament laxity (loose ligament) that shouldn't be there. The opposite ligament that pulls counter to the ACL is the PCL and I seem to not have one. I'm not sure what happened in my surgery if it was damaged or just if I didn't have one. This is not conclusive yet, but I was getting nothing but green lights from my Kaiser physical therapist and my ortho surgeon until I saw Ryan who was diligently asking questions about the situation. Even his other staff came to the same conclusion. Overall, not conclusive yet, but I'm just glad to have someone tell me I'm not crazy and just gloss over what I feel and have to deal with. So, in summary, I cannot say enough about Ryan's professionalism, his extensive knowledge, his kind, didactic nature and his commitment to his patients. I'm really proud of him to do well and find such a great way to live his bliss in seeing the progressive success of everyone that walks through his doors. I drive an hour and a half to see him (one-way) and pay out of pocket because hey, it's only my health. ;) read more

THE BEST Physical Therapy in Santa Cruz! Had Tiffany as my PT to work on a lower spinal disk injury. She was professional, knowledgeable, and personable and very supportive and understanding when it came to my lifestyle adjustment as I recuperated. She adeptly diagnosed my injury and prescribed good exercises. She kept to our prescribed appointment times, had good time management within our half hour. Office layout is great with plenty of open space to work on a table, or on the floor, or with machines/resistance bands. The atmosphere was jovial and happy and a pleasure to be in. When I came to DeWitt for my ACL surgery recovery, I was blown away by the level of attentiveness and the professionalism and knowledge. I do Crossfit 5 days a week and it was important to me to have a PT who understood that. DeWitt owns the Crossfit next door and many of their pt's are also Crossfit coaches. Tiffany is my PT and her knowledge and patience is worth every star I gave. The desk staff is very friendly and they all remember my name when I come in. The owner, Ryan, and some of the other therapists even say hi to me when I come in. If I ask to do things out of my reach, Tiffany lets me know, but we make it a goal to get to. I have reached many of my goals ahead of schedule thanks to her. She has been spot on with every single thing she has said to me or given me to do. I recommended my mom go to DeWitt as well as she had developed drop foot, and Tiffany went above and beyond the cvall of duty by going to speak to my mom's Crossfit coach on her lunch break to make sure everyone was on the same page for my mom's recovery when she was cleared to work out again. This place is amazing! I went in a few months ago struggling with shoulder pain. I had an initial intake appointment with one of the therapists, and she noticed something a bit off, and quickly did some work to correct the problem. I'm not exactly sure what she did, but it felt a bit differently than the chiropractors I have been going to for TEN years. Anyways, I felt a little bit sore but then my shoulder felt incredible! The pain completely disappeared and I haven't even thought about it since then. Basically, this place is life-changing; I am so incredibly happy I went in.
