I would like to thank Visiting Angels for the wonderful service. Dory Sugay the director, came out and went over things with me in April. She was so kind and informative as to my loved ones disease ( Alzheimers). She showed concern for my safety. Coached me on how to handle things better..This was much appreciated! All the staff I spoke with were kind and helpful. Our assigned caregiver was great. Was able to handle situations well and gave me some much needed relief. Dorie and her staff at Visiting Angels have provided care to my elderly father (82 years old) since April 2015. From the beginning the staff has been professional and caring. Dorie worked closely with me to find the right home care aide who "clicked" with my dad. My parents recently move up to this area so in addition to dealing with losing some of his independence, he has constant shoulder and hip pain, a history of falls, and some degree of dementia. He knows when he is having difficulty finding the words to express himself, but he is no fool. Scott is my dad's home care aide and has been working with him since July 2015. Scott and my dad are really a good team. He treats my dad with respect, interacts well with my dad, does all the balance and leg strengthening exercises that I have set up and has even incorporated additional exercises to help my dad's arm pain and weakness. Both my parents feel that Scott consistently provides good care and challenges my dad to be more active than he may feel that he wants to be. I feel that with Scott my dad is always safe and that Scott has my dad's best interests at heart. Our family is very happy with the care that my dad is receiving. I would highly recommend working with Dorie and her team at Visiting Angels in Gilroy if you are needing some home care assistance. I'm a previous employee and have worked with this company for almost 3 years. And throughout my employment, I was very happy with their service and support. Not only did the office staff provide me with excellent service, they've also provided their residents with excellent service. I can't imagine anyone thinking otherwise! I had the privilege to meet Dorie and a few of her amazing caretakers while they provided 24/7 care for an elderly client with dementia. Dorie went above and beyond in assisting us ensure clients residence was ready prior to clients return home, including assisting with donations of pots/pans, linens, and even a karaoke machine, in an effort to provide as much comfort as possible to client. Despite clients various needs due to dementia, the care providers managed to ensure clients needs were met and most important that client remained safe. Dorie and her team at Visiting Angels cared for both my mom and dad in their home in Morgan Hill for many months in 2007-2008. I can't begin to fully express my gratitude for the wonderful care and love they gave my parents during a very difficult time. In addition to Divina's regular visits to take care of daily needs, Dorie herself often would drop by to cheer up mom. In fact, Dorie became an honorary daughter and she and mom would have such fun teasing and scolding each other. It really boosted my mom's spirits to see her. Eventually mom had to be put into a full time nursing home and she passed away in 2008. Dorie and Divina were there at the memorial services to honor mom's memory and comfort dad and me. They have become lifelong friends, I can't imagine a better choice to care for loved ones who need in home assistance, they truly are Visiting Angels. read more

Dorie was great to work with. I was very unsure about the care my dad would need, or if he would even need services. My dad was recovering from a rough hip surgery and his first bit of time in recovery wasn't at all what it was supposed to be. We were very worried. Dorie was so patient with me and my wishy washy-ness. We ended up wanting coverage for a full 10 days, about 10 hours/day. By this time, I was a little bit "last minute." Given that cost was a bit of a factor, she worked it so we'd have minimum overtime. And all of the care givers were lovely! read more

"How much do people rely on Yelp reviews? Some small businesses are offering incentives for reviewers." I saw this article on abc7 news and I wanted to warn any home care searchers or Caregivers that looking on Yelp will not help you. If you are looking for an honest review on Visiting Angels in Gilroy. Do not look here. I used to be a caregiver for Visiting Angels. For your piece of mind, I was not fired. I quit due to the fact that I was moving out of the area and my sister in law was hired a month after I quit. With that said, there are several incidences where Dorie Sugay, the owner, would offer us incentives for reviewing her business on Yelp. In fact, there is a local magazine (Out&About), once a year they put out a survey to vote on who is the best in various categories. The office staff would cut out the survey and send it with our checks. We would be entered into a drawing for gift cards if we completed the survey. I read Visiting Angels reviews on Yelp and I can't help but to wonder if these are honest, genuine reviews. It actually makes me wonder what other company is doing this same thing. read more

My family has been working with Visiting Angels for some time now and we have been happy until recently. Before I go into the reasons why we are so unhappy I have to say Visiting Angels has provided great care to my grandparents. The fastest meeting was done by their office manager, she was very friendly and seemed to care about the overall well being of my grandparents. Jana has stopped by on several occasions to check in on them and always updated me with their conditions The Caregivers that she sent to their home were always friendly and courteous. They always treated my grandparents with respect. Whenever they needed a schedule change, Jana was willing to help, no matter what time of day we called. I have had conversations with another lady in the office and although I could tell she was new, she made me feel like my question would be appropriately answered if she couldn't help me. Now, the reason why I'm giving Visiting Angels 3 stars. The last month it seems that we cannot get a schedule figured out. I do admit we have made some changes, but that has never seemed to be an issue in the past. We always pay our invoices as soon as we get them, we get billed every 2 weeks. I received a call from Dorie, the Executive Director, she wanted to let me know that my grandparents' account was overdue and they are short on funds and wants me to pay ASAP. Now let me clear something up, invoice was received on a Thursday and I was called the following Monday asking for payment. Did it ever occur to anyone that it just hasn't reached your office yet? I feel that Dorie needs to be given a lesson in professionalism and be reminded that customer service is everything. Especially in a company like hers. Ultimately, I would say if you deal with Dorie I wouldn't recommend Visiting Angels; however, if you deal with her staff, this company is a must use.
