On this particular day, it also was raining, HORRIBLY, so I was really doubting that I would get a chance to do something later, but I decided to see how far Quotes was from the service. Depending on what time we got out, if there wasn't a repase, AND the weather giving me some grace, I would stop by for an early birthday dinner. Thankfully, Mother Nature gave me a break and let me and my Mom enjoy a nice late lunch at Quotes, which not only had delicious food but exceptional customer service. Soon as we came to the front door, it was opened for us to step inside. We were greeted and shown where we could keep our umbrellas if we felt comfortable leaving at the front door. The hostess lead us to a table and asked if the location was okay. Once more, when our servers, Diamond and Ty, came to our table for our drink orders, I was asked if we were celebrating anything. I mentioned my birthday and was later on surprised by a slice of cheesecake. I didn't have the space to even eat it because I was fat full from the food and drinks I had before dessert arrived! First off, we came at a great time because we were able to try their entrees at a discounted price. Even the drinks are discounted during the lunch hour except their signature and customer fav, the lemon drop, with good reason! The flair that it is presented to you is phenomonal, but the taste is exquisite. It was so smooth I had to slow down from drinking it. I'm usually not too big into drinking more than one drink, but it was my birthday and the drink was GOOD, so another round had to be had! I even tasted my Mom's drink to see if there was something else I should try. I ended up sticking with my Lemon drop and the second one did not disappoint. As far as the food, I did ask for suggestions on a few entrees. I ended up getting the fried catfish and grits while Mom ordered the shrimp tacos with a side of asparagus. Although Mom raved about her tacos and even stated she wish she could make them at home, the asparagus was salty to us. We did send it back and in response, Chef Trini came out personally to ensure the second make was to our liking, indicating that the blackened seasoning would be available on the side. Please tell Chef Trini that this was the best asparagus I EVER tasted. It was cooked to perfection and no seasoning what so ever needs to camofluage the fineese that Chef cooked it with. My entree was also delectable and delicious with the marriage of fried catfish and grits smoothered with creole crawfish sauce (say that three times)! I love my catfish fried hard and not salted to death. Quotes presented both and it intermingled with the grits graciously. I couldn't eat the entire entree because 1. It was a big portion and 2. We had enjoyed an appetizer, the spinach dip and cauliflower garlic bread. It is a MUST to have! We are spinach dip fans and Quotes not only has one of the best Spinach Dips I tasted in a long time, but the creativity of making cauiflower garlic bread is chef's kiss. You would not even think you were eating cauliflower. It minds me more of pita bread versus tradional thick garlic bread but the flavor is there and compliments nicely with the spinach dip. Both the appetizer and my entree not only made great evening and next day breakfast meals but tasted even better later and the next day. That's when you KNOW you've eaten some good food- it taste even better later. Even the bday cheesecake was insanely epic the next day. I can't say enough about Quotes. Food was served in a metal plate with plasticware & plastic cups. (I'm sure the 'plastic' is helpful for managing the outside dining.) Chef Dee came out to check on us. She saw me taking a picture of my food & playfully said 'hey you gotta take a pic of the chef who created it'. Of course I took her pic!! It was my first time visiting a country club and I must say I had the most fabulous time ever! There was country music and line dancing galore! The overall ambiance and vibe of the club was raging with excitement and pure energy. It's absolutely enormous inside and there's more than one bar available at this establishment. With all the many dancers crowding the dance floor, it's a good thing this place is humongous. However, the ironic thing about all that space is that there's extremely limited seating availability provided; that is if you have not reserved a table for a birthday party. It seemed like every table was reserved for a party because my daughter and I walked every inch of that club and could not find an available table to sit at because they were all reserved for a party. However, there were plenty of seats around the dance floor, but they were taken as well. So, my advice would be to reserve a table in advance even if you are not celebrating a birthday party. This will at least ensure that you have somewhere to sit and rest your feet after leaving the dance floor. My friend, the birthday girl, did not reserve a table for her party thinking that there would be abandoned tables in the building. Big huge mistake. Furthermore, we ordered drinks all night because the prices were inexpensive. Be prepared to leave tips for the bartender if they truly deserve the tip. As I mentioned previously, there is more than one bar in this establishment. At the bar located to the immediate right as you first enter the entrance doors, there was a blonde haired female bartender and a Latino male bartender working that particular area. We tried placing our order with the male bartender first who would not speak up for us to understand him. She asked us what we wanted to drink and I responded to her, "Ma'am we are asking you and the gentleman for any suggestions because we are indecisive at the moment." She kept acting like a "dumb blonde" as if she did not know what to suggest so we just asked for a lemon drop which was okay. It wasn't strong at all and watery. I left her a tip and moved along. I was not pleased at all with the way they treated us. As a result of the lackadaisical bartenders at the first bar, my daughter and I decided to move to the back of the building and visit the other bar. This bartender was on and popping! He was very entertaining, friendly, and welcoming. He also had a mini chalkboard on display that listed the featured drinks of the night. Now this is what I was asking the other two unfriendly and unwelcoming bartenders about their featured drinks on the menu because they did not have a menu on display, or even offer a menu, or even suggest that we scan a QR code to see the drinks menu. Keep in mind this was my first time and my daughter's first time visiting this place so we were kind of lost. However, the other bartender is located directly in the back. When you first enter the doors you can see him working hard mixing and shaking drinks and serving the crowd like a professional mixologist. He was down-to-earth friendly and relatable. I spent all my dollars and tip money at his bar for the rest of the night and I purchased plenty of drinks all night. If I ever return to this establishment I will never patronize the other two bartenders. They need to stay at home because they do not know how to entertain their guests properly. Overall, Whiskey River is an exciting and fun place to be on a Friday or Saturday night if you want to dance or even ride the bull. Bull riding was fun but impossible to stay on during the whole ride. You will get thrown off no matter what. From the looks of the bull, it seems as if it's designed for you not to be able to stay on. Everyone gets thrown off no matter how hard you try to stay on, but it was so much fun! The dance floor is a nice size but can get overcrowded. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the beef quesadillas. Be prepared to show your ID before entering the building. There's a bouncer at the door asking the guests to show identification before being admitted. Would have given 5 stars if it hadn't been for the two rude bartenders' sore attitudes.

Some when it's not busy and some when it's very busy around happy hour. Their hh is from 3-6 daily where they have $2 off shots and cocktails. I've tried a few menu items too. This latest visit I tried the 8pc buffalo wings. Many bars have wings, and they should be at least edible if not awesome. I know Texas isn't Anchor Bar in Buffalo, but good wings are not hard to pull off for most bars. I chose the gochujang wings since they were recommended and turns out they are really good. I didn't ask for the celery and carrots, which they charge more for, but they gave them to me anyway. They were playing mostly reggae music during my latest visit. The service was fairly friendly, however, on one occasion the bartender was more concerned taking care of things at one end of the bar and rarely came to the other end where I was sitting. This was during a slow period, so she had no excuse to almost ignore me. Their menu is misleading with a couple of items. For example, the chicken wings. They display 4 prices, the top 2 prices for wings alone, and bottom are for wings served with celery, carrots and a dipping sauce, at least so I thought. Turns out I was wrong and the top 2 prices are not prices. It's actually 8 wings for 14 and 12 wings for 20. This is a very strange way and they should fix their menu since the waitress said many people have questioned this when it came time to pay their bill. I wanted to love this bar since Caddyshack is one of my favorite all time movies, but I just haven't had a great cocktails there yet and service has been spotty.
