I recently moved to the west New York area and was in need of a good hairdresser. I have a long frequented a salon in Montclair but that's too far to drive now so I found the salon on yelp actually. Made an appointment with Farrah to get color, highlights and a haircut/blowout. As you know it can be pretty scary to go with a new hairdresser when you had the same person for so long because a girl doesn't need her 'do To look crazy. Farrah was awesome, she took so much time and asked me many questions about my hair and what I had previously done to it etc. My hair looks amazing and I couldn't be happier. Tommy, the owner of the salon is lovely, as well and so were all the other people that were working in there. Everyone smiles and greets you. It's really nice and comfortable inside. I've even sent my daughter who needed some color correction done, to Farrah the next week and she is super pleased as well. I have decided not to go this place again for the below reasons: - the ladies at the reception desk are very rude ( put a little smile on your face) - they only accept cash and never offer a receipt. - they overly charged my elderly mom for a short haircut at $70 ( I have long hair I pay $65) - they don't dry my hair after a root touch up! My choices are either to pay for a blow dry or they hand a blow dryer to me and I dry my hair myself. This is not acceptable. read more

I had a Keratin treatment done on June 30th by Tommy, the salon's owner. It was the absolute best! He took his time and still I was done in under two hours even though my hair is quite long. My hair feels wonderful and it doesn't frizz even on the beach. I also purchased RSalon shampoo which smells very nice and is good for after keratin. I think I found my new hair salon in Edgewater! Came in frazzled after a long week and walked out feeling relaxed with a great cut. Tommy is a hair genius! Before washing, we had a quick consultation. I have been very neglectful of my hair since moving back in the area and in this horrible summer heat, have 'trimmed' my own hair at home with disastrous results. (bad bad bad, I know). I would like to give this place 2 stars but it wouldn't be fair considering the hairstyle I have now. I called in late and asked for a 5:30pm apt for which I was confirmed and then they called and asked if I could come in earlier and I said I would try. I get another call if I could come in tomorrow and I said I couldn't and they asked I fi could make it by 5 and I said I get done with work at 5 and would leave then. This didn't seem to be an issue and I actually left at 4:50pm to make it on there in time. I got there by 5:20 and it seemed lik my stylist was not pleased at all and she made it a point to tell me this and she was sighing and telling me how she doesn't take any appts after 5pm and I told her I even got out early from work but traffic was just bad. So now my haircut: I inform my stylist I need something modern and something that would work with my hair curly or straight and I didn't wanna go too short either and she listens to all I have to say and asks me so how do you want it cut? Hmmm if I was the stylist I would know but im nt! and that's why I'm hre in the first place! And then I show her a pic what I used to hav before which I really liked but I didn't want the same style and guess what she gives the exact same haircut but a little longer. I was soo disappointed but I didn't wana show her that so I just said thanks and left. I also left her a good enuf tip because she did end up being nicer later and did try to make the style as best as she could and that's the only reason I give it 1 stars. There is on site parking , a nice waiting area as well as snacks if you have to wait a couple of minutes. Inalvis has been cutting my hair since I moved into the area . She is very professional and friendly. She will listen to your needs and give you honest feedback as to what can and can't be done. She will not try and sell you services you don't need or want. I have been to very expensive top end colorists and never had someone who was truly able to make my hair color dreams come true.
