I have been going to Emilia for color and highlights and trims for years. Their new salon in North Bergen is beautiful and very comfortable. The music they play in the salon is great and the calm surroundings just add to a great experience being there. Emilia's daughter Grace, also does a fantastic job and has highlighted my hair when Emilia was on vacation. Karina is also a major player at the salon, who oversees the detailed needs and adds a very welcoming personality to the salon. I cannot say enough about the salon and the women who own it. E&G Salon is the best, and the service is comparable to any salon in NYC !!!!! read more

Emilia is excellent with the hair colors and respects her customers' sensitivity, opinion and choices in shades. Unfortunately I do not care for the new neighborhood of her salon nor the arrangements in the salon. The atmosphere is horrible. Street vendors walk in to sell stuff to patrons while you are getting hair color. Sometimes male and sometimes female. Local security guards will walk in and interrupt her while she is attending to women patrons. I find it extremely weird and unsafe. And many other patrons have expressed similar sentiments. I am told they have to earn their living so she allows them to walk around bugging her customers. This is unacceptable. Next door smoke shops and bar are not an ideal place for a hair salon to be nestled in. In addition, a male barber shop inside her salon is also a very awkward arrangement. Some women customers have complained about foul language coming out loud and clear while they are getting hair treatment. Many young men visit this location - some are cops as well. Some women have complained these men start following them around. She does not have the sensitivity to understand what a salon environment should look like therefore has not cared to pay much attention to it nor plans to. Wishing her the best as I do not intend to revisit her location, it is not a salon. And hope she starts caring for her patrons' personal space and privacy. Not everyone feels comfortable to have local vendors walk in a women's salon and disrupt them. read more

I've been getting my hair cut by Emilia for nearly 25 years. I'll follow her wherever she goes! She is always educating herself on new styles and on top of the latest trends. She knows what's best for my hair in terms of my lifestyle. I'm always on the go and don't have too much time to dedicate to styling it each day. All of my cuts allow me to just roll out of bed and still look great. She is also a kind and compassionate person who I enjoy talking to whenever I visit. I highly recommend her and her daughter Grace who is equally as skilled! read more

Once again I had yet another lovely experience at E&G Salon today! I've been to both posh downtown NYC salons and small neighborhood joints and Emilia and Grace strike just the right balance every. single. time. No one works more diligently to give you exactly what you're looking for than Grace and Emilia. I love that the salon is close to home, conveniently located on one of the main shopping drags in North Bergen, and that there's always ample parking. The foot traffic keeps it lively and keeps the flavor local - and they're really a part of the neighborhood that they serve. There's always hot coffee, good company and (most importantly) great hair! read more

E & G Salon - Fabulous hair while being socially distanced, of course! Another great job by Grace - I'm always more than happy with their work at E&G. - Hair Salons Near Me - North Bergen, New Jersey

When I was living in NYC, I could never find a salon that remembered me, my color, nor my cut. Each time was different. I was so happy to find E&G Salon and have been a customer for over ten years! They keep records of my visits, so no surprises. And if I do want to change it up a bit, both Emilia and Grace are wonderful to offer their professional opinions and services. The warm atmosphere is like visiting family. My crazy curly frizzy hair has been tamed and has never looked so good!! I highly recommend them! read more

1st time I went Grace did my hair. I asked for highlights to match the gray hair growing in and I got yellow highlights. I asked to fix my uneven layers and she have me face forming layers and left the rest. I left feeling happy because the blowout to hide my still uneven layers was good. The 2nd time I went I got the owner Emilia. I stated I wanted to let my gray hair naturally grow in. Her conversation was about gray hair makes you look older and i should so blonde highlights. Like I was gonna have them do that to me again. I asked for her to correct my uneven layers and I was going for the Farrah Fawcet look. I thought since she was from that era she had done that 100x already. She even engaged me in a conversation about the 70s fluffy hair. I said I'm so glad you understand that's the look I'm going for. I've attached pics of my hair I tried to blow out so you can see what this salon thinks is worth a $60 charge. The 2 stars is for the blowout. SHAME ON YOU! read more

This hair salon is fantastic! I have been a customer for years and always leave that place feeling like a "beauty queen". Never been ever disappointed. Now during covid-19 I also feel comfortable and safe, albeit me being more on the very careful side about this pandemic. The place is airy and large and the owner has safety measures in place. Masks on and no other customers close. Highly recommend with or without pandemic!! read more

I have followed Emelia since the early 90's, and four different locations. She is professional, courteous and oh so talented, but what I most admire is that she is tremendously patient and accommodating, she truly wants you to leave in "AWH". I receive the most complements from her haircuts, it's unbelievable! I have never been uncomfortable with any of her locations. As a business owner myself we always consider safety and location as a principal choice before moving. Knowing Emelia as long as I do I am sure demographics has been taken into consideration since she has two young beautiful daughters working with her. I will continue going to her and getting complemented for the extraordinary talent while feeling comfortable about the location. Lucy read more

I liked the service Emilia es un amor will return for extensions and maybe more highlights

mother and daughter owned little salon Very pricey not gonna lie they should make a few adjustments to the pricing I think that'll be great for there buisness Overall I think it's a good place for a cut wash blowout and a few highlights maybe lowlights I really enjoyed one of the ladies there who washed and blew out my hair she did a great job I recommend them as a secondary salon to place in your "Places to go" if something comes up and you can't make it to the place you usually go to or need a touch up ASAP and don't really trust many other salons read more

My wife & I have been going to E&G Salon for over 6 years. Emilia and her daughter Grace are extremely talented and professional. Recently they moved to a new location and we followed them to the new salon. Great setting, and they will go out of their way to make certain every client is happy. They offer new services in the new location. Massage, manicures, etc. Once you go there, you won't go anywhere else. Please tell them that Jaimi & Allan sent you. Your husband we'll never recognize you. read more

Thank you, Emilia, for your time and attention! I make a special trip to get my hair cut and colored by Emilia. I now live about 90 minutes away from the salon but that doesn't matter to me. What matters is finding a place and stylist I can trust. I went to a local salon in Pennsylvania a few months ago and was charged $406.00 and almost had a heart attack. What's worse is that the color was mediocre, the cut was terrible, and the style was bad. What terrible service I received! I will never go back to this salon. At E&G I know that Emilia will be honest with pricing and do a nice job with color. The fact that the blowout she gave me, even on a rainy day, lasted for two weeks is also incredible. I had never gone so long without washing my hair up to that point, but my scalp felt clean and there was no oily residue as I often feel after two or three days after a blowout. My hair didn't feel heavy or greasy and there was no smell at all. I even called to inquire about what products she used on my hair during my last appointment because I was so pleased. I already made my next appointment and can't wait to walk out looking pretty again. Thank you, E&G! Hasta luego. read more

I found E&G Salon through Yelp and the rating and reviews are right on point. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and very comfortable. Grace did an amazing job at cutting/styling my hair. I love how my hair looks & feels after I go to E & G! Emilia always has my hair care treatment & color ready assuring that my hair stays healthy in the process. I can trust her with the health of my hair, and my hair style. read more

I decided to make an appointment at E & G after passing the salon one evening. I originally was only getting a single process but decided to get the keratin treatment as well. I was given a warm greeting when I arrived and was offered tea or coffee. It's not a huge salon which I liked because it makes it more intimate. You can tell that the staff have a relationship with their customers. Grace did my keratin treatment and was sweet and answered any questions I had. Her mom did my coloring and was just as nice. I was very happy with the end result and I will definitely be going back. read more

A small place in the neighborhood which is fine. However two things I hope they can change. One is the lady who washes hair must've ate entire clove of a garlic. I didn't feel comfortable to talk to her. Also the 70's music was a bit too much. I hope they will see this review as I still want to be back there at least one more time. read more

I got a blowout by Grace and am giving it 2 stars because she did an above average job- I have gotten similar or better blowouts before so nothing outstanding. But I didn't find it to be a warm and friendly place at all. Grace pulled at my hair and used a lot more heat than necessary just to get the job done more quickly. And weirdest thing - I didn't even get a robe even after I asked for one! And clearly all the other customers had one. I don't recommend if you want a friendly place. read more

I had a really good experience at E&G. Grace was able to accommodate me a little earlier than opening time and she did an excellent job with my hair. I love it so much and it's been a long time since I've been truly happy with my hair coloring. She evened out my hair color and gave me perfect highlights. She was very knowledgeable and suggested the treatment that I needed for my hair to look good without being pushy. She took her time to do a thorough and good job, even corrected the highlights I had gotten done at another place; and to top it off she was nice enough to get me something to eat while I was waiting for my hair to be done. The salon is very personable, clean, and they know what they are doing. So glad I found a trustworthy salon close by and I am looking forward to my touch up! read more

I've been going to this salon for five years now. I love everything about it. Super clean, organized, punctual, lovely music, great energy, talented mother & daughter. From color, trims, extensions, or a simple wash & blow... I've always been satisfied and committed to this salon. read more

I was recommended E&G by a coworker and I have gone for haircuts and blow outs 2 times and I LOVED the cut every time. This time I went in for a balayage and OMG it came out AMAZING!!!!! Emilia worked on my hair and she consulted with me about the color a few times. I wanted something natural (which is hard to achieve, everyone gives you blonde highlights) but WOW, the end result was so on point!!! She recommended how much I should cut (based on my damaged ends) and still was able to keep so much length. My hair felt and looked healthy. I could not be happier with the end results. Make sure you visit because you won't be disappointed. This is my go to place for my hair! read more

Went here initially for a trim, then booked my appointment the day of for a balayage. Elisa is straightforward and talented, she's definitely got a magic touch to her hands! Nice people, the salon is super easy going, there is parking, and you'll love the conversations in the salon. I'll definitely keep coming back! read more

E & G Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - North Bergen, New Jersey

I have loved going to E&G Salon for the last 9 years and have gotten services (cuts, coloring, keratin and blowouts) from both Emilia and Grace and shampoos and head massages from Karyna. All of the ladies are excellent and I have always felt very happy with the results as well as with the warm atmosphere they and their other clients provide. Two years ago I had to go through chemotherapy and lost my hair. The ladies at E&G and their customers were so supportive and compassionate. I had always had very thick long hair and they helped me deal with the hair loss with so much compassion. I still remember crying as Emilia shaved my head while she and the other customers provided so much support, hugs and reassurance. Emilia and Grace also constantly worked with me to find a good style and cut as my hair grew back. Karyna has also shown so much compassion in finding solutions with my newly acquired problems with strong smells after my body chemistry changed. I love not just the services the ladies provide but also the feeling of support and family every time I go there. Thanks and love you all! Edited to add 2 photos from when my hair started to grow back and my first color and cut when it was long enough. read more

I've come to E & G three times now and every time I walk out loving my hair and my experience with these ladies. Elisa was so nice, professional and gave me good advice on how she can style my hair. The atmosphere they created is so welcoming and calming with nice music. I have had long hair for a while and wanted a fresh look. They were able to give me a great short hair cut with layers in the back and a face frame. I love that when I come here I get a consistently nice experience and I couldn't say that with other salons. read more

I've been here a few times, hadn't been in about a year and recently went back for a glaze. I'm getting married in 2 months so I am very picky about the coloring and I have very sensitive skin and need to literally put like vaseline on my hair line to prevent color from staining my skin. After the wash, I noticed the hair stylist mixing my color, which I thought was a little early because she was currently cutting a man's hair, but didn't really pay attention. So I'm sitting in the chair and all of a sudden the young woman washing my hair begins applying the color, without any warning. I'm not even sure she was licensed to do that. The stylist did not even come over to see if she was applying it right, or tell me she was busy and would be with me afterwards and this other person would be applying my color. Nope. So I had to stop her and put the barrier on my hair line (it was too late by the way because it was already on my forehead and nose). The stylist did not even come over once, the girl who applied my hair color literally massaged it into my scalp which works great with shampoo but horribly with hair dye, my scalp was flaming red for a week, I couldn't even part my hair but had to wear it back to try to hide it, which of course just drew attention to the bright red stain at my hair line. I was VERY displeased with the whole coloring experience. It took almost 3 weeks for the bright scalp and stained skin to go away, everywhere I went people asked me if I just got my hair colored, TWO WEEKS after this occurred. On the upside, the stylist really knows how to blow dry long hair, the style looked great. They also really appreciate long hair here and will really trim it to help it grow and not chop it unnecessarily. They also gave me an awesome espresso. However I will not be coming back for a glaze. read more

I Love E&G ! I just had a hair cut and a perm and not only it looks great, but the team is absolutely fabulous. Alex cut my hair in layers and next day I already got compliments for my hair! I also had my perm done and I have the need to say how great it was. For someone like me that had her perm being done for the last 10 years, this is one of the best perms I've had. It looks so natural and healthy! Emilia is absolutely the best. She really knew how to do it and she goes the extra mile to have it looking great. Emilia is definitely the one making E&G so special and so customer focused..I also love the products they used .. My hair is actually smelling nicely after the perm!! And being offered tea and coffee during the process makes the whole long perm process not so long. I would definitely come back !! read more

I have been going to E&G for a couple of years now and I just have to say I've never been happier with a hair salon before. This is my new go-to salon. Love it there. Cynthia cut my hair and I'm so happy with it.

I just moved to edgewater and based on a friends recommendation, I visited E&G to get a perm done. Grace looked at my hair and she recommended me not to do perm as my hair was quite curly naturally.I just never could tame my hair properly to get rid of the frizz. She showed me how to set my hair properly to get the look that I wanted from a perm without frizz. Very happy with the results. Grace is friendly and seems to care for her client's hair.Thumbs up to this place! read more
