I came here for my first digital perm and the results didn't disappoint. I made a call ahead of time to book an appointment, and don't think it's that difficult to get an appointment right now! At the time that I went, there were two stylists and one assistant. My overall experience at Fox Hair was probably a 7/10. If you're Korean, the hair stylist will most definitely be a lot friendlier to you, simply due to the language barrier. To be honest, I'm not sure who did my hair -- when I booked the appointment, I requested for Joy, but when I got to the salon, the hair stylist saw me and asked me if I was Jackie, and got down to doing my hair. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, and she immediately understood. The entire process took around 3 hours. When I first arrived, I was her first client. She does most of the styling while her assistant does the hair washing, etc. However, as the day went on, she got more and more clients; and her assistant was running around taking care of all these clients in addition to the other stylist's clients. I ended up feeling a bit neglected. Despite knowing that it was my first time getting a perm, she didn't really give me much aftercare instructions. Luckily the internet is a great resource! I'll admit that my results coming out the salon weren't that impressive. My hair looked like I hadn't gotten a perm and I was pretty upset. I wanted curls throughout my hair, but it looked like only the ends were mildly curled. However, after washing my hair 2 days later and styling it with some mousse and scrunching my hair as it dried, I saw the results I wanted! As for the price, my friends said what I paid is a pretty good price for my long hair. read more

Great to see Joy from Juun hair across the street here now. She's always great with her haircuts and while this place might not be as big or comfy as her old location, you still get great service and what matters most is that the great stylist I'm used to is here! My only gripe is that the seating situation here is kind of uncomfortable. Wood benches aren't a great place to sit and wait for an appointment but they do get people in and out pretty quickly and are great at multitasking so that's definitely a nice plus. Joy was very professional, had an eye for detail, and did an amazing job on my digital perm and haircut. She gave me her suggestions and knew exactly what she was doing. I cut my hair here yesterday because I found that it was a little cheaper than the other hair salons in the Fort Lee area. When I arrived home and looked in the mirror, I felt like my hair didn't seem like it was cut well. So I took a picture of it to see if my assumptions were right and they were. It is sad to see that this establishment was not able to do a proper straight cut. I am even considering going to one of the other hair salons that will fix this issue. You know whether your stylist is good or not, not just by the way your hair looks at the end of a haircut, but also by the way he/she cuts it. This place isn't as nice/clean/organized as other asian haircut places but the stylists seem to be pretty good at what they do. One thing I cannot stand is when the hair stylist starts up a conversation with you, which is fine but they get so engaged to a point where they literally stop cutting my hair, stand there and gossip for 10 minutes straight. It's not the engaged in conversation part that bothers me, but I do get worried they might mess up in what I ultimately went there to have them do. I don't mind small talk, but I go to get my haircut to get my HAIR CUT, not to gossip or to make friends. If you're a hairdresser and you happen to be reading this, please make a note. While visiting, decided that it was a good time for a haircut. I had never been to this salon before and decided to give it a try, if they messed up, my hair would grow out. I got my hair cut by a girl named Areum, I think. I asked for a trim with lots of layers and thinning towards the bottom. When it was done, I was very pleased. She straightened my hair with a blow dryer instead of a flat iron and it looked really nice without the damage an iron would do. My hair is curly and I knew it would look different after it curled. The next day after I washed it, I was super excited. My curls never looked better. It had volume without being too big or frizzy. The ends were thinned so that my hair no longer had a pyramid shape to it and the layers gave me my curls back that had been weighed down to waves. I usually don't go to hair salons often and the last salon I went too was so great that I wanted to go back but sadly they were still closed due to Covid. So I have been doing my research to find a new salon to go to but wow with all those calls just to find a salon to see if I can find one with a decent price was a challenge. I came across one right by me which was Fox Hair and their price wasn't as high as all the other places that started charging so much after Covid. Although this place does not blow dry your hair after the cut due to Covid, I didn't mind. My stylist, Jenny Lim, was super professional and honest with how much I should cut my hair as well as what kind of style I should go with while still keeping in my mind what I wanted. She kept in mind what I wanted while still letting me know what length would be better as well as adding in slight layers. CONCLUSION - Came in to dye my hair black - color came out - she's not willing to fix it. Came in because it was around the neighborhood, i bleached my hair few times before so i wanted to just go back to my original hair color. she never mentioned the color could come out even she knew i had bleached my hair few times before. So i came in and showed her my hair and she agreed to redo it. I was busy so i couldnt come in until i made another appointment (which i told the person on the phone im coming in to fix the hair they messed up.) and stopped by today. She said time has passed too much and she's not willing to fix it. So in my opinion, no matter how much time has passed she has agreed with me about the outcome and told me she would re-do it. Why does it matter then that how much time has passed? Not like it has been more than a month. Im including the pictures of the day after i dyed my hair. Im not the type of a person to write a review unless i feel like i got treated wrongly, and the way she talked to me and tried to argue made me feel so uncomfortable. Im not going to mention her name but please dont waste your time and money like i did. I had Esther for a haircut. She seemed to understand what I wanted at the time, which was to cut the hair short and thin it out and it's easy to maintain. A week after the cut, the hair is not easy to maintain at all! It is still bulky in some areas and the hair looks ugly everyday. I'd have to spend a lot of time styling it to make it look presentable, which is what she did at end of the haircut. She needs to know that everyone has different hair texture and should cut it accordingly. I happen to have thick and bulky hair and she should know that as a professional hair dresser. It was $46 for the cut. I should've gone to Akane which does much better job for the same price, i should've waited for an appointment there. read more

I randomly stepped into this place on a Saturday afternoon and it was the only place that took me as a walk in. This place was alright.... Nothing wowed me that I would make an appt and go back. Place wasn't busy compared to the first salon I stepped in which was down the street. The hair wash was disappointing, lady didn't give me a proper head massage. It's like she's afraid of my scalp.it was also quick, one shampoo then conditioner. I guess I'm used to getting my hair washed in Chinatown , 2 shampoo and conditioner and they give u amazing head massage and really scratch that scalp OHHHH SO GOOD! One lady ALWAYS cut my bangs too short *seethes*. One lady cut it just right. But then came the day of my prom. I made an appointment and came in all excited. I asked for SIMPLE WAVES. They ended up CURLING my hair, pinned it up, cutting my bangs WAY. TOO. SHORT. Then, they hair sprayed my hair to oblivion. Ruined my hair with color and and had me at the salon over 4 hours to do it and made me pay for it to add insult to injury. She gave me the opposite of what I wanted, I had FRIED ORANGE hair when I left, when I simply wanted my brown hair lightened a little bit with some blond highlights in it. She did this insisting that I pay for it (and it was a lot) with no apologies. She even tried to tell me it was the lights in the salon that was making it look ORANGE like I was some idiot. Because I have olive skin, the ORANGE, and I mean orange, looked like a bad joke on me.
