Have you ever wanted to just step into a hair salon that doesn't - overwhelm you with all kinds of services offered on the menu (and on displays) - make you feel uncared for as everyone seems busy doing their own thing - burden you just ever so slightly with way too much people moving around and about ... and want to just go to a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere where the employees know you and offer just the right amount of advice and at times, service/products? Then my dear yelper, you've come to the right place - Salon de Chloe. Better late than never, I am writing this after being their patron for over two years now... and was one day determined to stop being a jerk and write a review to highlight this little gem. It is true, the location is a bit tucked away and parking could sometimes be a bit tricky (had to park at the cafe bene shopping mall a few times) but come during off-hours and you won't have that issue. I go to the owner/chief hairstylist Tim and he just knows how to handle your hair and can understand when I elaborate on what I might want (yeah, a guy can actually do that) and distill it down to simple solutions followed by concise explanations. That's what I really like about Tim - for all his knowledge and experience, he doesn't go on and on about what he can do or what he did blah blah like some other hair stylists out there. He just offers crisp explanations, cracks a few jokes and engage you in some banter, and exercises utmost professionalism. He also gets points for being warm and respectful of other staff members including my favorite shampoo lady in the whole galaxy - Senora fill-in-the-blank-lo siento-i-forgot-su-nombre. On the topic of shampoo - yes, this hispanic lady gives FANTASTIC head massage shampoo - she def. knows who I am because I should be the only Coreano bustin' out in my short espanol every time asking how she's been and droppin' cash like it's hot on the way out. She genuinely cares about the experience she's giving you - firmly yet gently washing your hair and making sure you're comfortable. Me gusto mucho! I also had Chris cut my hair once when he was brand-spankin' new and I gave him some feedback initially as he was too eager to cut my hair like "so and so in Korea" but clients like me don't give a fudge about "looking like so-and-so" so that fell flat quickly. But he capitulated quickly and gave me a decent cut, and seems improving as I see good reviews about him too. He's polite though I think he should smile a bit more. So stop wasting money at other places in Pal Park, etc. and hit up this little gem in Fort Lee - tell Tim I sent you. (and tell the shampoo lady senor hablo espanol porquitissimo sent you!)

I've been going to gloria for years and she is a coloring genius! She gave me the hair transformation I was looking for. In a single session she brought me from black hair at the roots with leftover brown/blonde on the ends to a beautiful ash violet. The color has lots of dimension and with the goal of getting ash blonde/silver, after a few washes the violet faded as planned. Highly recommend gloria ! Her cut is just as beautiful and also passes the longevity test of growing out nicely.

I had been to his salon once before. I had my haircut by Lynn & I absolutely loved it. Second visit I'm told Lynn no longer works there so based on reviews I tried Gloria. The cut itself was decent. However... it was NOT what I asked for AT ALL. I asked her for a LOB even showed her a picture and walked out with a super short bob. She styled my hair horrendously; curls were ridiculously tight and I absolutely hated it. I ran home to straighten my hair right away. On top of everything she charged me $50 for a cut I didn't want at all.... I regret cutting my hair so bad. Won't be coming back ever again. Left what I asked for...right What I got.

I have never left a salon feeling so beautiful, thank you again Lynn!!

Let me start off by saying that I'm very weary of hair salons because I've never had any good experiences. Either they cut too much or the style is ugly, but that's not the case here. Salon de Chloe is now my go to hair salon. I went in for a small trim (2 inches to be exact) and have very long hair that reaches down to my hips. I wanted to keep the length and just get rid of my dead ends. My stylist was Lynn and she was very gentle and listened exactly to what I wanted and didn't push for anything more. At the end she asked if I wanted some waves so I said why not and my God I think I may be addicted to this style now. The place is very clean and they have a quiet and friendly atmosphere, total cost for wash, trim and style was $50 not bad at all. Definitely coming back from now on!

Another great review for Gloria. This is my second time with her. She is consistent and always provides great service. She takes her time and makes sure she is happy with how her work came out. Here's my haircut and highlights today.

I was 20 minutes late to my appointment, but the salon was so accommodating! I've gotten my hair cut before here and it's always turned out exactly the way I wanted. I specifically asked for my hair to be styled with natural curls and Chris did an amazing job with it! Plus, my hair's relatively dead and brittle so I can't imagine that it was easy to work with that. Thanks, Chris!

I used to travel all the way to Williamsburg, Brooklyn to get my hair colored because I am super particular about my hair. After a year of this, I wanted to find a local salon so I wouldn't have to drive so far. After a couple of dissatisfying experiences at various places in which the actual color would look nothing like the picture I showed them, I finally went on Yelp and searched and searched until I decided to give Salon de Chloe a chance. That's where I discovered Gloria. Gloria really listened to what I wanted and for the first time in a long time, my hair color came out exactly like the internet picture I saved. I have not gone to another stylist since. Very happy!

My hair 3-4 days after I got the digital perm

I absolutely LOVED my experience here!! I made an appointment with Lynn for a digital perm and got in around 11am and left around 2:30-3pm. I'm always apprehensive when it comes to my hair because I usually leave the salons crying or upset. I showed Lynn pictures of the look I was going for before I started. She's relatively new to the salon-- she said she's only been there 3 months or so but I would highly recommend going to her if you're looking to get a digital perm. She trimmed my hair a little and layered it before perming. My hair length is a little below shoulder length and the cost came out to ~$170 (there is a small discount if you pay in cash).

Gloria is THE BEST!!! She replicated exactly what I wanted. The process took longer than expected and we ended up finishing an hour after closing time. However, I did not feel rushed at all and Gloria still put a lot of care and attention into my hair. She also offered me a snack while I waited which was very kind and much appreciated. This was my first time getting my hair colored and I'm always skeptical about trying new hairdressers, but I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much Gloria, I am so happy with my hair! If you're trying to decide where to get your hair colored out of the many salons in this area, Gloria is your person!

Little bit pricey... but best hair results I have ever gotten done so far :) If you have asian hair that needs subtle and elegant changes, Gloria is the best.

Even a simple hair cut for a child gets full attention and special touch! Beautiful and ready for the summer!! Thank you~~~

I called yesterday and they were able to accommodate an appointment for both cut and color. Thank goodness bc my hair was looking rather dull and flat-- after getting my hair done and balayaged 2 years ago, I finally grew it all out due to damage from improper maintenance. Today I decided to get highlights. As you can imagine, it's very nerve wracking to go to a new salon for a total change up but I am super happy with the results. Gloria listened to how I wanted my hair to be colored. I brought a picture in and she was able to adjust the style based on my features. She was honest and helped me come to a good decision about my hair. I'm very happy with how everything came out and I will be returning to this salon again!! Thank you Gloria, we both agree that this is much better than my natural hair!!

I received a text the day before my appointment that asked if I had any recent symptoms consistent with coronavirus/if anyone in my household had symptoms. Additionally I was provided with instructions on the salon protocol. On calling the salon, I was instructed that I could enter, I was asked to sanitize my hands, and had my temperature checked. The salon is using disposable gowns and is limiting hairdrying inside the salon, therefore you're asked to show up having washed your own hair. The appointment was quick and everyone wore masks/maintained social distancing inside. The haircut is wonderful (only $65, cheaper than what I've paid for comparable haircuts in the past) and I could not have felt more comfortable with the experience. The location has plenty of parking in the parking lot behind the salon. Excuse the appearance of the area near the salon as there was a fire in a restaurant next door. I highly recommend this salon, they are going above and beyond to make sure their clients are safe.

Four Years of Hair Growth Lost -- Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more This was my third visit to Kaie Salon, and unfortunately it will be my last. I want to give full context because I genuinely tried to trust this salon and even recommended it to friends. I am an Asian male with slightly below-shoulder-length hair. I had been growing my hair out for four years from a buzz cut and was looking for a layered cut with a Korean perm. I've had bad chemical perm experiences in the past that left my hair dry and brittle, which is why I was willing to drive 2.5 hours to find a stylist I could begin to build a relationship with. On my first visit, Kai advised me that my front layers weren't long enough yet and recommended waiting a few months before doing a Korean perm. I respected that advice and only got a haircut for a wedding. The haircut itself was very minimal, but I wasn't bothered because he seemed knowledgeable. On my second visit, I returned specifically for a Korean perm because my roots had grown out flat while the rest of my hair was still wavy from a previous perm. My goal was to have one consistent texture throughout and add some layering so that it sits on my face well and I don't look like Jesus. After the service, I honestly looked almost the same as when I walked in. Since this was my first Korean perm, I assumed maybe my hair length or weight affected the result and gave it the benefit of the doubt and decided to return for my 3rd and last time. On my third visit, I made it very clear that I wanted a shorter haircut while keeping my length, along with a Korean perm. I scheduled and placed a deposit for a Korean perm, but at no point during the service was I told that I was instead receiving a chemical perm. That alone is unacceptable but when I noticed the rods were not connected to the heating thing, it was too late. What made things worse was the haircut. I ended up with a mullet-style cut, which was not the inspiration photo I showed. While that wasn't ideal, I could have lived with it--until I washed my hair a few days later. That's when I realized how bad the cut truly was. The left and right sides were completely uneven, with random short and long sections that made no sense structurally. It honestly felt like the work of someone still in training. I was devastated. I had a New Year's Eve event that same night and ended up wearing a hat because I was so embarrassed. Over the next few days, feedback from friends, family, and coworkers confirmed what I already knew. The haircut was not salvageable. I ultimately had to go back to an undercut with a bald fade, losing nearly all of the hair I spent four years growing. This was never my intention, and now it will take a long time to grow my hair back again. To add to this, another friend of mine also got a haircut here and did not walk out with the style he asked for either. I'm extremely disappointed. I tried multiple times to trust this salon, traveled a long distance, and gave them the benefit of the doubt--but the final result was unacceptable. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this salon, especially if you care deeply about your hair or are seeking a specialized service like a Korean perm.

On the morning of my appointment, I realized I never received a text confirmation, so I called to double check. Unfortunately, I was told that my appointment details had never been saved. They did offer an opening later at 2:00 PM, which I accepted, though coming from NYC it was inconvenient and required rearranging my afternoon plans. When I arrived, the stylist was very friendly, but there was another mix up, he believed I was only scheduled for a cut, not a perm. While he was able to fit just the perm in, I think the time constraints led to a much looser perm, used larger and less rods than what I had requested. I specifically asked for a tighter style, similar to what I usually get. Afterward, I honestly don't see much of a difference between my hair before and after the perm, which is disappointing. I do believe they gave me a discounted rate, but the repeated miscommunication made the experience frustrating and the end product wasn't really what I wanted. It felt like a waste of both time and money, and I'll now need to have it redone elsewhere.

Yusa was the one to cut my hair and I plan to go to him only for my hair needs moving forward. I actually came in with many things I wanted to fix in my hair. Not only did Yusa patiently listen to all of my requests, he even spent extra time to examine my hair type and head shape and explained his thought process as he cut my hair. By the end of the haircut, not only did I receive an excellent haircut for a very fair price, but Yusa also gave me a ton of advice regarding how I should maintain and style my hair. Cherry on top, he's also super friendly, interesting and a great conversationalist. In terms of service, scheduling an appointment by phone is simple and quick, but the stylists here are understandably busy and have packed schedules. I would suggest scheduling ahead of time and mentally preparing to be placed on a wait list. Otherwise, finding the salon was easy and the interior is clean and pleasant to be in. Overall, I would highly recommend this spot, especially if you're looking to get a trendy and modern Asian male hairstyle for a fair price compared to places in Manhattan.

TL;DR: Lowlights rock…read more I had been to Jackie's years ago when I used to travel more frequently to the northeast. This time I had some downtime and swung by for a trim. She asked whether I want to try something different and suggested lowlights - I had never heard of the term but figured they're like highlights, just less obvious. The first and last time I had had toned down my hair (highlights, actually) was 22 years ago, but the AI photo apps had all suggested recently that I go blonde, so I thought this may be a first step in that direction. She said how long it takes depends on the individual's hair but should take no more than an hour, and I was intrigued. I can do an hour. I told her I really don't want that overbleached, orangish yellow color, and she was on the same page. We were going to aim for a light brown, but that could mean any number of things, right? It came out a copper-bronze that adds just a touch of light around my face. The color looks more obvious in certain angles depending on how my hair is tousled or parted, and I love how it shows up more prominently in the under-layers of my hair and when I put it up in a bun! This is a result of her gathering my hair, then taking some away in a zigzag before bleaching what remained in hand. I really like that she made the bleached hair blend with my natural hair. Btw, she's pretty opinionated and has a lot of comments, but knows her stuff. If you've ever been scared about toning down your hair color, give lowlights a try! It's very affordable here even with the wash and cut afterward. I was here a total of 1:30 including my wash and cut, during which three people walked in. She had to turn them away since she was doing my hair; one person came back at a time she had told him. Glad to see that it's a happening place but that she takes walk-ins like I did :D
