But Whitney did an amazing job and couldn't be happier. It's very clean inside and very spacious. There's a parking lot so you don't have to worry about street parking. Come with some cash because there's no room on the receipt for adding a tip when you pay by credit card. I highly recommend - would definitely come back.

All of my bridesmaids, my mom and my mother in law were so happy with their hair and make-up and they all looked beautiful! As for me, I've had my make-up done before but when I saw myself in the mirror after Nikole finished my make-up, I truly felt like a bride. She did exactly what I wanted from a mix of inspo pics and I couldn't have been happier. For my hair, Whitney gave me everything I could've wished for and more. It looked perfect, it held all night and wasn't in my face at all. Not only that, but all the women who worked with us on the day were so friendly and warm! They made the day that much more special. I am going to recommend Whitney and her team to every future bride or anyone at all that just wants to look amazing!

Seeing my hesitation, I was told that if I did a perm haircut is free. If just color, there is a separate charge. Then the opinion kept changing on whether I needed straightening perm on top of that. I felt manipulated and uneasy. The color did not come out as I wanted - overall this experience was not great and I will never be coming back here again. Asks for prices BEFORE you start any services. Reading other reviews, changing prices seems like something this place typically does. I did not appreciate the dishonesty.

Her side: Checking out the reviews, I booked my last-minute appointment on a Friday afternoon since they were available. Gloria was my hairstylist for the appointment. I showed her my inspiration and asked her if she can achieve this look. I also told her that my hair is permanently black because I was turned away by a few local spots in the area. She said she can achieve the color without a problem. I sat there for a good 4 hours, but something didn't look right.  She started to bleach my roots after 4 hours in. Went for a wash, and that's when I noticed my hair did not look the way I wanted... Not only did my roots look orange, but my whole hair was not EVEN. Also, the lighting in the store is so dark you can't really tell until you get home. I did tell her we needed to fix this, but the store was about to close so she asked if I could come in next week. I wanted to get it fixed asap so I asked if I could come in next morning. This was my inspiration: ( 1st image with blue scribble on the eyes) First visit: (Gloria let her walk out the salon WITH THIS COLOR -WTF SHADE IS THAT) **photos are added for reference I texted her that I did not like my hair, and had the audacity to tell me to come in a week later and come in for the THIRD TIME. I thought about it, but she didn't respect my time and I did not want to go back to this salon at all. I preferred to get a refund and go back to my go-to hair salon (in the city) to get it fixed. While I mentioned this never happened to me, she goes "this is my first problem too." Next few days, I texted her again and showed her how my hair is different from top to bottom...I asked her if it is okay if I can just get a refund and she refused to give me my refund. The part I was most annoyed with the most when she said she'll return half and wouldn't give me the other half because I used her products LOL. She said it's not "fair" when I asked for a refund. You are the store owner and need to satisfy your customers? I never experienced such poor customer service and management in my life. In the end, I still didn't get a refund or a full apology. Please do yourself a favor and take your $300 elsewhere. They do not know how to color your hair at all. Never going back ever again. **WHO LET'S THEIR CLIENT LEAVE LOOKING LIKE THAT. I bet your ass the people leaving 5 star reviews are all the workers. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, I'VE WARNED EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY.

This review is divided in 2 parts. 1) the salon, itself & 2) my experience with stylist SARA…read more I'll start & say this is the first salon that I have ever been in that I didn't want to leave. I have been in Manhattan salons & I put myself thru college in Chicago working as a receptionist in premiere salons. Vain is at at the top for being the coziest, well kept, clean, & friendliest salons. Upon entering, they took my coat, showed me to the unbelievable sofa (I was early), & made me a coffee. I was greeted by the owner, who is very hands on in the business & sweet. This place really is welcoming & makes this place a cozy, but nice, neighborhood place. Everyone that works here will acknowledge you & make you feel like you are at home. I truly was sad to leave when my hair service ended, but I look forward to going back. Overall - top notch, well cared for salon that truly welcomes your visit!! Just a tip - park in the back. Meters are for 2 hours & the time is up - someone will run change to your meter. My experience with SARA is everything & more. I highly recommend for men, women, AND children. Sara is well experienced in hair of all types & colors. She truly loves this purpose in life & really enjoys people overall. She colors like like a true artist & applies color like Da Vinci or Picasso. Sitting in her chair, you feel like a canvas. I am male & have shoulder length hair & wanted to look like I was at the beach for a summer. She nailed it - it was perfect. I have also sent her many female friends her way for various color & cut services & they have all been pleased. She has a natural & "pretty" color sense - her work is never processed or fake looking. You look at her work on Instagram & think, "that's really nice!". She also has a "conservative" way of cutting. You don't ever have to be worried she will chop your hair off. She only wants to make sure you have healthy hair & will only cut what's needed, unless you ask for more. Such a rarity. One other note - Sara is very rehearsed in hair care. She will honestly recommend salon products that would be good for you & if they don't carry it - she will suggest products that can be found online or on Amazon. For an example - I needed a "blue" shampoo for blonde hair & a Biotin vitamin to help my hair from a thyroid condition. Thanks to her recommendation - I'm doing good. One tip - if she recommends a salon "condition treatment" - please take it. It is incredible & worth every penny (not expensive!). Overall - I HIGHLY recommend Vain Salon & Sara for all hair needs. As mentioned, great for both female & male. Both have a strong presence on Instagram for your consideration: https://www.instagram.com/vainsalonnj/ & https://www.instagram.com/hairbysaracang/

Four Years of Hair Growth Lost -- Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more This was my third visit to Kaie Salon, and unfortunately it will be my last. I want to give full context because I genuinely tried to trust this salon and even recommended it to friends. I am an Asian male with slightly below-shoulder-length hair. I had been growing my hair out for four years from a buzz cut and was looking for a layered cut with a Korean perm. I've had bad chemical perm experiences in the past that left my hair dry and brittle, which is why I was willing to drive 2.5 hours to find a stylist I could begin to build a relationship with. On my first visit, Kai advised me that my front layers weren't long enough yet and recommended waiting a few months before doing a Korean perm. I respected that advice and only got a haircut for a wedding. The haircut itself was very minimal, but I wasn't bothered because he seemed knowledgeable. On my second visit, I returned specifically for a Korean perm because my roots had grown out flat while the rest of my hair was still wavy from a previous perm. My goal was to have one consistent texture throughout and add some layering so that it sits on my face well and I don't look like Jesus. After the service, I honestly looked almost the same as when I walked in. Since this was my first Korean perm, I assumed maybe my hair length or weight affected the result and gave it the benefit of the doubt and decided to return for my 3rd and last time. On my third visit, I made it very clear that I wanted a shorter haircut while keeping my length, along with a Korean perm. I scheduled and placed a deposit for a Korean perm, but at no point during the service was I told that I was instead receiving a chemical perm. That alone is unacceptable but when I noticed the rods were not connected to the heating thing, it was too late. What made things worse was the haircut. I ended up with a mullet-style cut, which was not the inspiration photo I showed. While that wasn't ideal, I could have lived with it--until I washed my hair a few days later. That's when I realized how bad the cut truly was. The left and right sides were completely uneven, with random short and long sections that made no sense structurally. It honestly felt like the work of someone still in training. I was devastated. I had a New Year's Eve event that same night and ended up wearing a hat because I was so embarrassed. Over the next few days, feedback from friends, family, and coworkers confirmed what I already knew. The haircut was not salvageable. I ultimately had to go back to an undercut with a bald fade, losing nearly all of the hair I spent four years growing. This was never my intention, and now it will take a long time to grow my hair back again. To add to this, another friend of mine also got a haircut here and did not walk out with the style he asked for either. I'm extremely disappointed. I tried multiple times to trust this salon, traveled a long distance, and gave them the benefit of the doubt--but the final result was unacceptable. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this salon, especially if you care deeply about your hair or are seeking a specialized service like a Korean perm.

As you can see in the top two photos my hair was damaged from dying it many times before, I used box dye during the COVID-19 quarantine leaving it in different shades of brown and a harsh line at the roots, and I also cut my hair myself making it uneven. The first time I met Sandra she made me feel comfortable and I trusted her with my hair because the way she spoke about hair showed me that she knew what she was doing, and she knew how to deal with different hair types. Sandra spent the day perfecting my hair and I was so happy and felt beautiful after we were done. Since then I've gotten compliments on my hair regularly, and my hair is a lot healthier than before. I'm so happy I trusted Sandra with my hair, she is a wonderful person and has gotten a client for life. **My mom has also gone to Sandra and she also feels like DaVinci Hair Studio is a comfortable environment because Sandra gave her honest opinion on my moms hair and said the color looks lovely and she doesn't need to change it. Whereas other hairstylists can be pushy and try to get you to do expensive things to your hair.**
