Short review: SEVERELY understaffed, double/triple book, not…read moreon time by a long shot, not exactly the hair color I wanted, expensive. Long review: I had a 12pm appointment and showed up at 11:57, only to find out that the person I had an appointment with, was already in the middle of a long hair color removal process. This was my first time at this salon, and I didn't "have to have" that hairstylist... so I didn't mind when I was told that a different hairdresser would take care of me. The new hairdresser was also busy and in the middle of a long blow dry, so I am not told to have a seat for my hair color until 1.5hrs later... on top of that, I am also being juggled between other people coming in for blow out, highlights and keratin treatments appointments. It was extremely infuriating because I only needed a root touch up and mild lightening . I'm being timed based on her other appointments (or possibly walk-ins?) and, I'm being TOLD that after my wash she would do XYZ (instead of DOING XYZ)... so I had long wait times between each hair step as well. For example, after she did my highlights, I am not told to wash my hair until after she's done with another client based on her timing (not my own), and the person assigned to wash hair is also a cashier, roller, etc... which means that she also needed her sweet time to come wash my hair; after my hair is finally being washed, she made several stops to obtain other clients payments, etc... and when I'm finally clean, my hairdresser is in the middle of doing someone else's hair so she doesn't come back for another 20 minutes to apply my toner. After my toner is applied, I'm told I'll keep it on for 15 minutes, but again, she goes back to doing other clients hair and that's when I'm extremely pissed and asked someone else to wash off my toner after waiting 25 minutes. Mind you it's 6:26 by now. Almost 7hrs!!!! I was not in the mood to be seating again for 30 minutes before my haircut/blow dry and I decided to leave. I would say the cumulative in-between wait times total would be at least 3 out if those 6.5 hrs. Although I didn't get my haircut or blow dry, they still charged me for the full service and only removed the price of the blow dry but I was in such a rush that I forgot to reclaim that I did not have my haircut so the discount should have been even more. I have had much more complex hair coloring before but I've never had to be in a hair salon for almost 7hrs. At the end of the day, my roots are still dark and the highlights are not exactly what I asked for, but I was charged considerably more than I have ever been charged at a hair salon in downtown Manhattan for less time, one on one treatment and more complex hair coloring.

Upon arriving, I was greeted by Soyoun. I consulted with her about dying my hair two shades lighter…read moreto medium brown. About 3 inches of my hair was virgin hair and the rest was dyed hair. I appreciate that Soyoun and Michelle took the time to genuinely listen to my concerns and communicate on what process would result in a uniform color throughout my hair so it looked natural. My appointment was with Michelle, and I liked that she was attentive when cutting and coloring my hair. I didn't feel it was rushed (if you want a quick cut this might not be what you're looking for). I regret not bringing a book to read!.. I was there for 2.5 hours due to the coloring process, as they had to remove the dyed color from half my hair before coloring my whole head. When my back started to ache from sitting, Michelle noticed and brought a cushion to prop behind my back! The hair wash was gentle and the brief scalp massage felt greattt. There are hair salons where my neck feels strained a minute into the hairwash. No neck pain here! The salon is spacious. There were two other customers, and we were spread out to different areas of the salon. Throughout my appointment(color, cut, wash, blowdry), not once was I asked to remove my mask. The staff always had their masks on too. I plan to come back to Juun Hair. The atmosphere was very comfortable and pleasant.

Got a perm from here, and I was super happy with the results. Also, I called a day in advance to…read moremake the appointment, and they were able to fit me in the next day. Price was super good for all of the services. THE PERM: Be forewarned, they will tell you which type of perm you should do. For me, since my hair is fine, they advised a regular perm. They also advised that I do a deep conditioning treatment beforehand, which I agreed to. That took an extra 20 minutes or so before the perm, and they gave me 5 weeks of additional little packets to use each week. The whole process was performed by the main stylist who mainly only spoke Korean (and needed a translator at times) and her assistant. The stylist also gave me a little hair trim before the perm. Then the perm itself took about 2 hours, including washing and drying my hair afterwards. Overall I was in the salon about 3 hours. Now, 2 weeks out from the perm, I can say it's equal to much higher priced perms that I've gotten in the past. Overall I am super happy with the results. I think in total, the price was around $180 for the perm and the conditioning treatment. I tipped each of the two ladies $20 and so the total was $220.
