Initially, it looked much more voluminous than I wanted but realized that it's exactly the right amount once I walked out and went about my day. I received a text the day before my appointment that asked if I had any recent symptoms consistent with coronavirus/if anyone in my household had symptoms. Additionally I was provided with instructions on the salon protocol. On calling the salon, I was instructed that I could enter, I was asked to sanitize my hands, and had my temperature checked. The salon is using disposable gowns and is limiting hairdrying inside the salon, therefore you're asked to show up having washed your own hair. The appointment was quick and everyone wore masks/maintained social distancing inside. The haircut is wonderful (only $65, cheaper than what I've paid for comparable haircuts in the past) and I could not have felt more comfortable with the experience. The location has plenty of parking in the parking lot behind the salon. Excuse the appearance of the area near the salon as there was a fire in a restaurant next door. I highly recommend this salon, they are going above and beyond to make sure their clients are safe.

First and foremost, the staff was very kind, but overall I didn't have a great experience. I…read morescheduled a cut and perm appointment weeks in advance via email. On the morning of my appointment, I realized I never received a text confirmation, so I called to double check. Unfortunately, I was told that my appointment details had never been saved. They did offer an opening later at 2:00 PM, which I accepted, though coming from NYC it was inconvenient and required rearranging my afternoon plans. When I arrived, the stylist was very friendly, but there was another mix up, he believed I was only scheduled for a cut, not a perm. While he was able to fit just the perm in, I think the time constraints led to a much looser perm, used larger and less rods than what I had requested. I specifically asked for a tighter style, similar to what I usually get. Afterward, I honestly don't see much of a difference between my hair before and after the perm, which is disappointing. I do believe they gave me a discounted rate, but the repeated miscommunication made the experience frustrating and the end product wasn't really what I wanted. It felt like a waste of both time and money, and I'll now need to have it redone elsewhere.

Being from Los Angeles, I…read moretried different barbers around Manhattan and Fort Lee area after moving here and couldn't find anyone that could do it like the Los Angeles folks (at ssooniestyle, shout out to them and Ray) until I came here. Yusa was the one to cut my hair and I plan to go to him only for my hair needs moving forward. I actually came in with many things I wanted to fix in my hair. Not only did Yusa patiently listen to all of my requests, he even spent extra time to examine my hair type and head shape and explained his thought process as he cut my hair. By the end of the haircut, not only did I receive an excellent haircut for a very fair price, but Yusa also gave me a ton of advice regarding how I should maintain and style my hair. Cherry on top, he's also super friendly, interesting and a great conversationalist. In terms of service, scheduling an appointment by phone is simple and quick, but the stylists here are understandably busy and have packed schedules. I would suggest scheduling ahead of time and mentally preparing to be placed on a wait list. Otherwise, finding the salon was easy and the interior is clean and pleasant to be in. Overall, I would highly recommend this spot, especially if you're looking to get a trendy and modern Asian male hairstyle for a fair price compared to places in Manhattan.

Seeing my hesitation, I was told that if I did a perm haircut is free. If just color, there is a separate charge. Then the opinion kept changing on whether I needed straightening perm on top of that. I felt manipulated and uneasy. The color did not come out as I wanted - overall this experience was not great and I will never be coming back here again. Asks for prices BEFORE you start any services. Reading other reviews, changing prices seems like something this place typically does. I did not appreciate the dishonesty.

Her side: Checking out the reviews, I booked my last-minute appointment on a Friday afternoon since they were available. Gloria was my hairstylist for the appointment. I showed her my inspiration and asked her if she can achieve this look. I also told her that my hair is permanently black because I was turned away by a few local spots in the area. She said she can achieve the color without a problem. I sat there for a good 4 hours, but something didn't look right.  She started to bleach my roots after 4 hours in. Went for a wash, and that's when I noticed my hair did not look the way I wanted... Not only did my roots look orange, but my whole hair was not EVEN. Also, the lighting in the store is so dark you can't really tell until you get home. I did tell her we needed to fix this, but the store was about to close so she asked if I could come in next week. I wanted to get it fixed asap so I asked if I could come in next morning. This was my inspiration: ( 1st image with blue scribble on the eyes) First visit: (Gloria let her walk out the salon WITH THIS COLOR -WTF SHADE IS THAT) **photos are added for reference I texted her that I did not like my hair, and had the audacity to tell me to come in a week later and come in for the THIRD TIME. I thought about it, but she didn't respect my time and I did not want to go back to this salon at all. I preferred to get a refund and go back to my go-to hair salon (in the city) to get it fixed. While I mentioned this never happened to me, she goes "this is my first problem too." Next few days, I texted her again and showed her how my hair is different from top to bottom...I asked her if it is okay if I can just get a refund and she refused to give me my refund. The part I was most annoyed with the most when she said she'll return half and wouldn't give me the other half because I used her products LOL. She said it's not "fair" when I asked for a refund. You are the store owner and need to satisfy your customers? I never experienced such poor customer service and management in my life. In the end, I still didn't get a refund or a full apology. Please do yourself a favor and take your $300 elsewhere. They do not know how to color your hair at all. Never going back ever again. **WHO LET'S THEIR CLIENT LEAVE LOOKING LIKE THAT. I bet your ass the people leaving 5 star reviews are all the workers. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, I'VE WARNED EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY.

Four Years of Hair Growth Lost -- Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more This was my third visit to Kaie Salon, and unfortunately it will be my last. I want to give full context because I genuinely tried to trust this salon and even recommended it to friends. I am an Asian male with slightly below-shoulder-length hair. I had been growing my hair out for four years from a buzz cut and was looking for a layered cut with a Korean perm. I've had bad chemical perm experiences in the past that left my hair dry and brittle, which is why I was willing to drive 2.5 hours to find a stylist I could begin to build a relationship with. On my first visit, Kai advised me that my front layers weren't long enough yet and recommended waiting a few months before doing a Korean perm. I respected that advice and only got a haircut for a wedding. The haircut itself was very minimal, but I wasn't bothered because he seemed knowledgeable. On my second visit, I returned specifically for a Korean perm because my roots had grown out flat while the rest of my hair was still wavy from a previous perm. My goal was to have one consistent texture throughout and add some layering so that it sits on my face well and I don't look like Jesus. After the service, I honestly looked almost the same as when I walked in. Since this was my first Korean perm, I assumed maybe my hair length or weight affected the result and gave it the benefit of the doubt and decided to return for my 3rd and last time. On my third visit, I made it very clear that I wanted a shorter haircut while keeping my length, along with a Korean perm. I scheduled and placed a deposit for a Korean perm, but at no point during the service was I told that I was instead receiving a chemical perm. That alone is unacceptable but when I noticed the rods were not connected to the heating thing, it was too late. What made things worse was the haircut. I ended up with a mullet-style cut, which was not the inspiration photo I showed. While that wasn't ideal, I could have lived with it--until I washed my hair a few days later. That's when I realized how bad the cut truly was. The left and right sides were completely uneven, with random short and long sections that made no sense structurally. It honestly felt like the work of someone still in training. I was devastated. I had a New Year's Eve event that same night and ended up wearing a hat because I was so embarrassed. Over the next few days, feedback from friends, family, and coworkers confirmed what I already knew. The haircut was not salvageable. I ultimately had to go back to an undercut with a bald fade, losing nearly all of the hair I spent four years growing. This was never my intention, and now it will take a long time to grow my hair back again. To add to this, another friend of mine also got a haircut here and did not walk out with the style he asked for either. I'm extremely disappointed. I tried multiple times to trust this salon, traveled a long distance, and gave them the benefit of the doubt--but the final result was unacceptable. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this salon, especially if you care deeply about your hair or are seeking a specialized service like a Korean perm.

I appreciate that Soyoun and Michelle took the time to genuinely listen to my concerns and communicate on what process would result in a uniform color throughout my hair so it looked natural. My appointment was with Michelle, and I liked that she was attentive when cutting and coloring my hair. I didn't feel it was rushed (if you want a quick cut this might not be what you're looking for). I regret not bringing a book to read!.. I was there for 2.5 hours due to the coloring process, as they had to remove the dyed color from half my hair before coloring my whole head. When my back started to ache from sitting, Michelle noticed and brought a cushion to prop behind my back! The hair wash was gentle and the brief scalp massage felt greattt. There are hair salons where my neck feels strained a minute into the hairwash. No neck pain here! The salon is spacious. There were two other customers, and we were spread out to different areas of the salon. Throughout my appointment(color, cut, wash, blowdry), not once was I asked to remove my mask. The staff always had their masks on too. I plan to come back to Juun Hair. The atmosphere was very comfortable and pleasant.

Price was super good for all of the services. THE PERM: Be forewarned, they will tell you which type of perm you should do. For me, since my hair is fine, they advised a regular perm. They also advised that I do a deep conditioning treatment beforehand, which I agreed to. That took an extra 20 minutes or so before the perm, and they gave me 5 weeks of additional little packets to use each week. The whole process was performed by the main stylist who mainly only spoke Korean (and needed a translator at times) and her assistant. The stylist also gave me a little hair trim before the perm. Then the perm itself took about 2 hours, including washing and drying my hair afterwards. Overall I was in the salon about 3 hours. Now, 2 weeks out from the perm, I can say it's equal to much higher priced perms that I've gotten in the past. Overall I am super happy with the results. I think in total, the price was around $180 for the perm and the conditioning treatment. I tipped each of the two ladies $20 and so the total was $220.
