Emilia's daughter Grace, also does a fantastic job and has highlighted my hair when Emilia was on vacation. Unfortunately I do not care for the new neighborhood of her salon nor the arrangements in the salon. The atmosphere is horrible. Street vendors walk in to sell stuff to patrons while you are getting hair color. Sometimes male and sometimes female. Local security guards will walk in and interrupt her while she is attending to women patrons. I find it extremely weird and unsafe. And many other patrons have expressed similar sentiments. I am told they have to earn their living so she allows them to walk around bugging her customers. This is unacceptable. Next door smoke shops and bar are not an ideal place for a hair salon to be nestled in. In addition, a male barber shop inside her salon is also a very awkward arrangement. Some women customers have complained about foul language coming out loud and clear while they are getting hair treatment. Many young men visit this location - some are cops as well. Some women have complained these men start following them around. She does not have the sensitivity to understand what a salon environment should look like therefore has not cared to pay much attention to it nor plans to. Wishing her the best as I do not intend to revisit her location, it is not a salon. And hope she starts caring for her patrons' personal space and privacy. Not everyone feels comfortable to have local vendors walk in a women's salon and disrupt them.

Trained in Europe, (Italy), she saw immediately what needed to be done to make the cut work. She cut the hair when it was dried and started shaping and adding layers. I wanted to try something closer to my apartment. I also needed my color done, which I'm not as picky about as the cut. When I called they were really nice on the phone. They got me an appointment right away for bang trim, then I decided I wanted a regular cut because I really trusted the person who was cutting my hair, Mario. I went back a couple days later for color. I was very impressed, by Mario and how great not only his cutting skills were but the coloring as well. It will definitely be a new go to place for me when I am in New York.

She didn't even wanna explain how it came out to be 300. On the paper it says for a full color it's 125 and up, she washed my hair again when i told her i washed it 30 minutes before arrival. i came early but she didn't show at the correct time. I wanted blonde and told her not platinum but she decided to make it dark blonde, mind you i showed her a picture of what i wanted. i am entirely disappointed. Again i don't see how i paid 300 for this. I am so sad i even cried. i hate it mind you i have to live with this. Don't think anyone should pay that price especially when they don't like the results and i told her that i didn't like the color. Nothing i could do. Hopefully this helps someone, don't make a mistake like i did.

Rave Review for Monique at The Hair Den…read more Monique is an absolute gem. She has that rare combination of technical precision, aesthetic instinct, and calm confidence that instantly puts you at ease. She really sees your hair -- the texture, the density, the movement -- and makes choices that elevate everything without ever forcing a look that isn't you. What sets her apart is her attention to detail. She doesn't rush, she doesn't guess, and she doesn't do that performative "trust me" thing you get at so many salons. She explains what she's doing, why she's doing it, and how it will grow out. The result is hair that looks polished, modern, and expensive in the best way. My cut and color have never looked more refined. The tone is spot‑on, the shape is clean and flattering, and the finish is that glossy, effortless quiet‑luxury vibe everyone tries to get but few stylists can actually deliver.

"Calling a customer's request 'abuse' is a serious accusation and completely unprofessional,…read moreespecially when the confusion stems from your own staff. To clarify: I asked for one foil piece. The fact that the stylist chose to split that section into two smaller foils for better application is a standard professional technique, not a request for more hair. The 'picture' you refer to was the result of your stylist's work, not a request for my 'whole front head.' If there was a misunderstanding, it should have been addressed during the consultation--not after the bleach was already processing on my hair. The real abuse of the situation was the public embarrassment I was subjected to. Being haggled for $80 mid-service in front of other clients and staff because of your own booking error was humiliating. A professional business honors the price they quoted in writing ($15) and fixes their website/internal communication later. Instead, you chose to corner a client and then lash out when held accountable for your quote.
