I had some problems with a vehicle I had just purchased and had it towed to R&R. They diagnosed the problem (misdiagnosed, actually) and said they needed to order some parts which might take a while (the vehicle is older). Well, I was surprised when they called me the next day, around midday, and told me the vehicle was repaired and ready to go. I believe the bill was around $650-$700; I have the bill in my records somewhere.
10 miles down the road, the exact same problem became apparent. Ultimately, the issue was with the PCM or "brain," not the crankshaft position sensor or the other sensor that was "changed."
So I did some inspecting when I got the vehicle back the next day. I was billed for a new crankshaft position sensor, yet the exact same crankshaft position sensor is still in my vehicle today. And it still works. I had qualms about whether another item I was billed for was ultimately replaced, but I'm only 90% sure on that item versus 100% sure on the crankshaft position sensor.
I ended up using my phone on the next day to take video footage of the supposed "work rendered" and forwarded it to my email to timestamp it. I considered taking them to small claims court but ultimately had to leave the area for a stretch.
I had used these people in the past without issue. I always dealt with the young guys and thought they were the owners. On the last trip, I dealt with an older guy and assume he is the owner or the new owner. read more
