Of course, with it being a busy Saturday, everyone was leaving their vacations and every mechanic around was full. Our tow truck driver gave us the phone number for Uhl's and I'm so grateful he did. Not only did Uhl's fit us in, they started looking at our car immediately when we arrived. Within half an hour, they solved the problem and had us on the road home. I don't know if it was because the issue was so minor or because these people are just so genuinely kind, but they didn't even charge us, declining even a tip of appreciation for their time. The team at Uhl's was such a blessing to us and we are beyond grateful!

The main technician there that day, Paul, was able to fit me in at the time I requested, fairly late in the day. When I arrived, he was very professional and courteous. He had one of the mechanics there immediately start work on my car. The mechanic was fairly young, but clearly took pride in his work. Although it was past the time he was supposed to be off, he took his time and made sure he did it right. He also checked the tire pressure, at my request. An oil change is not that big of a deal and it is not a glamorous set-up at their shop, but I had a very good experience with them, which is more important to me than anything. I recommend trying their services, if you need work done on your car.

And tried to blame it on "secondary issue" as if they weren't responsible.

OBX Affordable Automotive Repair was one of the top shops. I read the reviews and told my husband that we should drive over. I have to say that Jeff is an impressive mechanic! He got us in, replaced the alternator in about 2 hours! He's an honest, straightforward person. We genuinely appreciate him helping us out in this situation being so far away from home. Would definitely recommend! Thanks Jeff!

I'd used this business before, and knew the owner had retired - Now turning it over to this younger group. Same vibe, same super reasonable cost, excellent customer interface. I also asked about a brake job on my Jeep, to which Amanda said, of course, they were just finishing one up now. Brilliantly, she offered they don't automatically replace the rotors -which is a wonderful high profit job for the usual shops, but often not necessary. That was beyond refreshing. This business is a keeper. It's a low overhead shop, so no glitzy outer building and signage, or waiting room (they do have a small spot, complete with a happy dog.) Don't be put off by the exterior - they are a rare bargain. 5 stars easily.

I took the vehicle back after a few weeks and insisted that the air conditioner was leaking. This time they found the leak and fixed it, but I did not get any credit towards repair from the previous bad diagnosis. I took the vehicle back recently for the still-leaking coolant system, but was told that it was not leaking initially (it has been leaking continuously) and that I would have to start over with another $140 pressure test to find the leak. I couldn't see at first where I could to speak with someone about getting some quick work done, so I asked who I should speak to and he responded, "I don't KNOW! Go to the window!" Wtf? After I pulled up, he said something to me and I didn't answer right away and he said, "talk to me! if you don't talk to me, I'm not gonna do no work!" I mean, this guy was just full of animosity towards me. By this time, I'm getting angry myself and said "well don't then. Just close the hood."
