New Leaf delivered a clear, easy to read estimate via email. I selected New Leaf and we scheduled our appointment. Again, New Leaf called ahead and confirmed our scheduled appointments (Thank you, this goes a long way!). Shaun came out to do some initial pest control work, and then on a second visit came back with a two-person crew. The team laid plastic down in my home so as to not make a mess during the cleanup, and wore PPE for the job. I'm glad the company believes in following precautions for homeowner and employees alike. New Leaf removed all debris, laid a moisture barrier, replaced ventilation piping, replaced insulation, and tidied up items that were hanging too low from the floor above. The situation looks MUCH better. After several hours, the job was complete. I inspected the crawlspace with Shaun, and he did a thorough walkthrough/walkaround of the job site. He was very patience with my many questions, which I appreciate. New Leaf is scheduled to come out in a couple weeks for a follow up appointment/check on the results. From start to finish, they were professional, honest, respectful, knowledgeable, and very fairly priced. We had two projects for Alcon. First, we had a rat get into our crawl space, so we needed the vapor barrier and insulation replaced. Second, we wanted additional insulation in our attic because what we had was the minimum amount and had become worn down. During the inspection, Vincente also noticed that we had no insulation on an attic firewall, which both companies we received bids from agreed should have insulation. Alcon did an excellent job protecting our home during the work. They put plastic protection over all of our carpets and walls and did a great job cleaning up at the end of each day. The entire project took two days, and you would hardly have known they had been working in the house. One of the biggest reasons we chose Alcon was their pricing and honesty. We received bids from two companies. The other company was an approved Energy Trust of Oregon contractor and offered a $2,000 incentive for adding attic insulation. Even with that incentive, their price was still slightly higher than Alcon's. Without the incentive, their bid was more than $2,000 higher than Alcon's. I had always understood the incentive to be something intended to benefit the homeowner, rather than something that gets absorbed into the contractor's pricing. Alcon's straightforward and fair pricing really stood out to us, and we are so glad we went with them. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process. They were on time, easy to work with, clear in their communication, and very respectful of our home. The quality of the work has already made a noticeable difference. We immediately noticed that the temperature upstairs is much more consistent. Before the insulation work, we could walk up the stairs and feel the heat in the summer or the cold in the winter. Now, the temperature feels the same all the way up. We expect this improvement in insulation will also help us save energy. Vincente went above and beyond in several ways because of how knowledgeable and attentive he is. He noticed that a sump pump installed by our home's manufacturer was positioned incorrectly and offered to fix it for us at no charge. He also discovered a slow roof leak that we were able to have another company promptly repair. (Alcon does not repair shingles, but Vincente was thoughtful enough to point out the problem.) While Dane was wonderful in replacing our water heater's anode rod, it was quite bothersome that we…read morehad to pay $250 to have it replaced on a part covered under warranty. The water heater was installed 2 1/2 years ago by Rivival Heating and the anode rod needed to be replaced because "Portland water is so hard and full of minerals". The original quote for labor alone (not covered under warranty) was $340 but we got the manager to bring it down to $250. Still, the water heater is only 2 1/2 years old and that was an expense we did not anticipate when we bought the water heater. The prior one was not broken but when we had Rivival replace our furnace, they strongly suggested replacing the water heater at the same time. The old one never produced brown water but after just two years, the new one did. Maybe the water heater wasn't as good as the previous one? Not sure... Forgot to add, my home warranty service said they could not reimburse me because this is a "warranty issue". And to be truthful, the furnace job was great! Just wish the water heater repair didn't cost me anything. Next year, when it is out of warranty, I'll be able to file for reimbursement from my home warranty provider.

The return job was completed somewhat satisfactorily. When they returned to complete the job, the owner kept making statements about me updating the review to 5 stars in exchange for coming back and completing the original job. Read the 4 star review on here, as it was the same with that person as it was with us. Just like everyone elses negative reviews the Groupon is a bait and switch. They came to our house told us everything was very dirty and that everything will need to be brushed no vacuumd so our Groupon was worthless. $450 for a half done job(see pictures of AFTER the original work was done). We requested a detailed invoice of the service and when we didn't receive it I called to find out what the delay was. The person I spoke to just kept reiterating the same thing over and over. How dirty everything was and how they cleaned it and I was to prove to him where it was still dirty. Mind you he was looking at this very same review while on the phone. The last red flag that is they only take venmo AND it goes to a private individual under the name Marlene Gomez Perez. Please do not use this company.
