Came here to recycle a bunch of metal: trampoline frame and springs, curtain fixtures, broom handles, broken tripod, razor kick scooter. If it's made of metal chances are they will take it for recycling. Feels good to do my part to keep things out of the landfill and even get paid a little bit. Staff is also very friendly. I started going to Quiroz recycling because I constantly felt I was being ripped off by that "other" recycling place a few miles west on the 52 freeway. I have never felt 'ripped off' by Quiroz. Everyone is helpful and accommodating whether on the phone or in person. It's worth driving a little extra to deal with someone who treats people like they care. I had some cans and plastic bottles to recycle and Quiroz is close to home so I decided to try them out. This is the recycling center at the entrance of the Sycamore Landfill in Santee. It is an immediate left once you're inside the gate. I went on a Monday morning and they weren't busy at all. There were two guys working and they were polite, quick and efficient. I put all of my recyclables into their containers to be weighed. I then handed the guy three small brass fittings to recycle also. Probably $1 worth of brass. He told me that because of the brass (I would assume copper too) that there would be a 3-day hold on my money. They would give a voucher to me and I could come back in three days to collect or they could mail a check to me. For a buck? No thanks. I'd rather have $86 now rather than $87 in three days. I'll save the brass for American Recycling in El Cajon who has no such policy. American has you leave a fingerprint and a CA DL number, but you get you $$ on the spot. For cans and bottles though I will most definitely use Quiroz again, if only for the sheer convenience. read more

Started going here after Prince's Recycling in Del Cerro continued to be flakey about being open or closed, zero communication and always running out of money to give change. Quiroz has been a much better alternative; the redemption values are competitive, friendly staff and they allow hand counts of up to 200 (or 250 maybe?) plastic drinking water containers. This is important because if you weighed these bottles you'd likely get about half of the deposit cost refunded. Most other centers only allow up to 50 hand counts. Overall very happy with this business! read more

Pros: freeway accessible, quick cash, no lines/short wait Cons: smallish parking area, flying insect swarm It's close enough to home base where I can maintain the circle of life for CRV beverage containers. A quick left turn into the driveway just before Sycamore Landfill and around the bend. I went on a late weekday morning and there were only three others in the lot. Nobody pushing shopping carts or bicycle cargo carriers, and no sketchy vibe, ifyouknowwhatimean. Other recycle centers in relation to here are towards the eastern industrial side of Magnolia Ave by Hwy 67, or westbound on Hwy 52 by the Miramar Landfill. Remember to sort the different containers: plastic, cans, and the clear/green/brown glass bottles. Separated glass pays more than mixed glass. Some PET plastic containers may or may not have recycle value, but it doesn't hurt to try. In general, they're supposed to pay for anything with CA CRV on the label. The other thing I noticed here versus other recyclers was the amount of flying insects. Not just pesky flies, but swarms of bees, or their dopplegangers, buzzing in groups around the various bins, attracted by sugary sweet drink containers. Makes sense, with Mission Trails Regional Park nearby. Nature rules. Thanks for keeping your recyclable reusable materials away from garbage and local landfills. read more

Only thing going for this place is the convenient location. We had a car full of boxes to recycle. The guys sitting there told us to put them into this bin the size of a shipping container. It was about 7-8 feet tall with an open top which meant we had to throw the flattened boxes up over the edge which wasn't easy. No help from staff. Also there was broken glass everywhere that I had to drive around to get to the cardboard container. Not impressed and will find somewhere else to get rid of excess recycling. read more

So I've been to so many recycling centers in San Diego and this place is by far the best I've been to. There were quite a few bees flying around because of the residual liquid in cans which is totally fine, to be expected during the summer. I am very allergic though and was jumping and running away from doing sorting my cans in fear of getting stung. The man who was working though saw me and immediately came over and said he would sort my cans for me since I'm allergic and finished sorting the rest of the cans for me while I was safely in the car. He was so incredibly kind, sweet, and sooooo helpful for doing that for me. I am so grateful for him and his exceptional service. Im addition, they also payed very well for all the cans I brought! Best pay back I've gotten from any other recycling center in SD. I am absolutely coming back and recommending this recycling place to everyone I know! read more

Came here once again after moving down here from Las Vegas, NV where I used to live for 5 years until 2022. Courteous staff and reasonable prices per pound. This place is certainly better than Prince Recycling in Del Cerro. But, I am not here to rate them. Anyway, this place maybe a bit farther for me, but, it is worth the time and drive. I had a 1 cubic foot refrigerator to recycle. Dorm room fridge. Called them and they said it would be $5 because it's so small. Hauled it over there and they charged me for recycling a full size fridge. Told them what they'd said on the phone, but they wouldn't honor it. Kind of a ripoff. Have been coming here for less than a year. It's good in the beginning. Though I notice, that they pay you, depending on the day- how busy they are or not. I will bring more stuff to recycle, and the payment is less. I understand this is based on weight of the cans, bottles, etc. They give a receipt, although I don't think the real weight and what's on the receipt don't correlate. Its a bit questionable. Just fyi. Though it's on a good recycling location, staff are polite, and service is good. read more

Ten cents a pound for cleaned window frame material (incidental caulk and the occasional screw, no glass or glazing putty) about one third of the going rate. They seem to focus mostly on CRV recyclers, and there is a 3 day hold for any payout over $20. They wait to tell you all of this until you begin unloading, and the "mixed material" BS happens after you're done unloading. I hope they get the most out of that four hundred pounds of aluminum I brought them, because I get that much twice a week and now it's going somewhere else. Typical San Diego area service company that doesn't care about building relationships, they take you for all they can on your first visit to see if you're dumb enough to come back. Also, they are unscrupulous enough to write their own reviews. Stay away. read more
