I give it a one for the view. The drinks were poorly made by bartenders with terrible attitudes. We were passed over to order then they gave us the wrong drinks... one in a dirty glass. Don't waste your time, there are other rooftop bars who want your business. read more

This hotel is OK. Stayed here 3 nights. The rooms are nice but the bed was uncomfortable. Also, a lot of noise coming in from outside.

I LOVED this hotel. I am a frequent traveler who has grown weary of hotels. I have been a big BnBer for some trips because of that. However, the vibe here is really different. My room - a corner room - had the most beautiful large steel windows with good roof and sky views. The room was chic and spacious. The bathroom with marble was large and comfy. The front desk staff was courteous and warm. A young man with an unusual name I wish I could remember was especially good. I told him it was a rare weekend away with my husband without the children and within 5 minutes a chilled French bubbly (Cremant) was at my door with flutes. If you want the traditional Southern look so common in these parts, this is not your place. But if you want something cool yet luxurious I recommend it. read more

Finally made it out to the Quirk Hotel Roof Top, after hearing some many great things. First of all, the view is fantastic! We would come back, just for that. There was also a chill crowd, which made the night even more enjoyable. The attire ranged from individual to individual, but it was mostly trendy. They have many drink options and our waitress, Nicky, was very attentive. We will definitely make it back out. read more

Amazing! Above and beyond service and unexpectedly great food. I heard the food was good... But damn - It was gooooood. Drinks too! read more

Quirk Richmond - Pekin paradise duck - Hotels Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

Such a beautiful hotel. Dinner in restaurant superb. Waiter Luis exceptional. Room is brilliant. View is the best in town. Altogether lovely! We are so pleased with the standard here and will be back!! And a few hours later I also need to edit this and tell that the coffee is excellent!! read more

Never been before, never been to Richmond. I'll be back for both. The hotel from check-in to no doubt check-out today was awesome, cute, friendly and warm. Room service quality was speedy and delicious. Even interesting and sophisticated. I chose room service because the only bummer of the hotel from my perspective is the cacophony of sound (i.e. loud music and no acoustic absorbing materials in the lobby/restaurant) and it seemed untenable to sit down and have an enjoyable meal. This was only bolstered at breakfast when the music was so loud and no one was in the restaurant -- the music was just bouncing off the walls and in my head. Maybe it is OK for some buzzed hipsters who tune it out -- for anyone with enough dough to stay and eat here, it is awful. That aside - from the coffee barista to the wait-staff, to housekeeping -- all are pretty sweet. Good luck! read more

I attended an event at The Quirk Hotel roof top bar. The views were spectacular, the drinks delicious and unending and the staff delightful, pleasant and flexible. I would highly recommend this location for a work event, wedding rehearsal, evening date, or just for the sight of Richmond while enjoying a cocktail. Ask for Jeremy, a manager, or Syed a bartender, they'll treat you right and make you wish they were always at your local water hub! FIVE STARS!!! AMAZING PLACE! read more

Loved everything about this hotel. Staff was incredibly pleasant and nice. Room was adorable and comfortable bed and pillows. Ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and it was amazing. Wonderful stay! read more

See all

I had a GREAT time at the Rooftop Bar. It was very busy and didn't have a lot of seating, but we also had a pretty large party of 5 compared to the size of the rooftop. It was packed with a mixed group of people and everyone seemed to be enjoying the 360 views and sunset. I would like to see a few more noshes, but goodness the cocktails! SO good! I would definitely go back and actually will be staying at the actual hotel soon so a review is to follow! read more

RESTAURANT:The wait staff was wonderful- able to make suggestions and let us know about our choices. The meal itself was good- but not great. A little saltier imo than it needed to be. The cheddar ice cream with apple crisp was a fail- how anyone would consider this a good dessert is beyond me. It is unique for sure, but not worth it. I had my doubts but thought I would try. The dessert menu all has "different" ice creams, including a celery one. Breakfast was good- but one egg was clearly undercooked - and I am not a snob of eggs being under. Overall, I would come here again, but not make it a habit. HOTEL: Water pressure in shower sucked. Plus I'm pretty sure (95% positive) there was hair in there that wasn't ours. Ew. Not to mention, we waited 2-3hrs AFTER our room was supposed to be ready (altho staff very nice and apologetic staff). There was dust and grime along basic stuff, including tile floor, but didn't make it uninhabitable either. The art work was Uhm.... interesting. Like a 5yr old had done it - but whatever. Interesting enough and good enough aesthetic, especially if that is your jam. Had cute perks like sending a postcard, room service, etc. The staff was professional, courteous, and kind. read more

Yoz is a fantastic bartender! Great cocktails and super inventive and friendly! So glad that I randomly came in on a Monday night. Come visit and ask for him to create you a great cocktail! read more

Terrible experience. I made the hotel reservation with one credit card and asked to provide a different card at check in. I was assured that only the card provided would be charged. However, both credit cards were charged the full cost of my stay. I have called the hotel about this issue 5 times and was assured each time that the charge on the other card would be reserved. I stayed at the hotel on a October 14. As of today, November 7, the charge is still not reversed. read more

This was our first visit to Richmond and we found this hotel online. Possibly the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The staff is wonderful, the rooms large and comfortable and the downstairs lobby is fantastic. If you love history, this was once a department store, built in 1916 and they've repurposed a lot of the wood from the old store, lending a very unique feel. So if you're ever in RVA, stay at Quirk. read more

Awesome environment and the rooftop is amazing. Shout out to Kellen she is awesome and does a great job at whatever she is asked to do!!!!!!! read more

The view was nice but their draft list is lacking. Can become pretty crowded. But it's definitely nice to see Richmond from above. Props to the Quirk for being the first rooftop bar in the city. read more

This is a review of the rooftop bar. Went on a busy Tuesday night and it seems like all the bartenders are newbies ... Don't know how to make drinks, have to look at a sheet for reference how to price and make drinks and took about 15 minutes to figure out how to close a tab. It's been what 2 months since the opening of this rooftop - this shouldn't be happening. The downstairs is beautiful and as quirky as ever but I will be avoiding this bar for a while until they can get it together. When a bartender tells you they will close your tab then proceeds to take 3 other orders and make 6 other drinks and then forgets to close your tab... You have a problem. read more

Great potential, subpar service. Wouldn't recommend the roof. Not friendly staff and very let down.

This review is for the rooftop. Its beautiful. Great views and they didn't let it get too crowded even though the line was out the door. Fortunately I was one of the first in line so we got upstairs with no problem however it took FOREVER. The elevator is slow so even though we were part of the third group up, we didn't get upstairs until 7... the rooftop opened at 6:30. They need to figure something out to make that easier because after going once, the wait is not worth it. Drink service was really, really slow. It didn't help that they put ice in a "neat" bourbon so it had to be sent back and left me waiting even longer. The worse of all was the food. The portions and presentation were laughable. This is a $14 charcuterie plate. No bread or crackers. It was served on a paper plate and not even a fancy looking one. It reminded me of a mini school cafeteria tray. I hope they work out the kinks quickly. read more

Quirk Richmond - sad charcuterie plate...not worth $14. - Hotels Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

Came here for the 4th of July as advertised on Facebook with BBQ and snowcone drinks, but was disappointed. The service was very slow and they didn't even offer the drinks they advertised. Beautiful views of the city, but the rooftop could function much better with better service and better drink options! read more

Stayed at the Quirk in early December after hearing and reading great comments about the hotel and its bar. The room was pleasantly appointed and larger than I expected and the bar was great. We checked out the next day and after our drive home to Ohio realized we left my husbands toiletries in the bathroom of our hotel room. I immediately called the hotel to ensure they were able to locate our items. When I called I was advised by the front desk that they would look in the room, check with housekeeping and call me back. Well, I did not hear from them for three days. I called back to check again and was advised that housekeeping did locate "some" of the items we left behind. Let me just say all of the items were in the same bag and he only the prescription medication was recovered? My husbands expensive cologne, razor/razor blades and other various personal items were not recovered. I was then given the name of a website I could go to and claim my belongs and pay to have them shipped to me. What a terrible experience! I call you seven hours after I check out , you don't return my call for several days, I contact again only to find out that the more expensive personal items I forgot were taken by housekeeping and the resolution is for me to pay to have the few belongs left returned to me? This is not the experience I expected and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. read more

Great hotel and bar. Friendly staff, nice rooms. I will definitely be back soon. There is a nice coffee shop across the street and convenient to local breweries. read more

We LOVED this hotel! If you are into design, you will not be disappointed. This was our first time in Richmond so we spoke to Eyad in Guest Services for some suggestions. He knocked it out of the park! We loved every restaurant, brewery, ice cream shop, neighborhood...etc. that he recommended! Someone please give that guy a raise! We're already looking forward to coming back! read more

The only thing I don't love about this hotel is the name. The neighborhood, the staff, the design, amenities, furnishings, shop, gallery, beds, showers, light, location, how welcoming they were to our two dogs... Everything is fantastic from the moment you arrive to the moment you depart. And the fact that the restaurant Maple & Pine is one of the best hotel restaurants -- ok one of the best restaurants period -- we've ever eaten in, does't hurt. If there is a Best New Restaurants of Richmond award they need to win it, and if they don't win it I have got to try the place that does. Richmond was our halfway point between Brooklyn and Savannah, and we only stayed there to give the dogs a rest from the car. Now we can't wait to go back at the end of winter!! read more

From top to bottom had an incredible experience! Rooftop bar is fantastic, staff is very accommodating. A great boutique hotel that I would definitely come back to again! read more

Love this place. The decor is super kitschy which I love. Indoors bar is nice, beautiful atmosphere for date or work function. I finally made it up to the roof when the weather was nice, and it was amazing! Lots of lounge seating, cute lights. There's some bar food. read more

Good location. Staff was alternately friendly and not friendly. Restaurant has only small portions and is overpriced. Valet parking is expensive, especially when street parking is largely free. Fridge in room is anemic. Beware of hidden charges on the bill at checkout, like a daily charge for stuff you didn't use. Would think twice about coming back. read more

Don't waste your time or money on the Sunday brunch at the Quirk Hotel. Service was mediocre, drinks took 15 minutes, and the food and coffee was cold. We were told that our car would ticketed if we parked next to the hotel in a legal parking area. Valet parking was $8.00. Valet parking at Tarrants, one block away was free. Do yourself a favor and choose one of the many other options available in RVA for brunch ! read more

Rooftop bar has gorgeous view but very overpriced for drinks served in lowball glasses literally only 1/4 full, maybe 2-3 oz. We had wine and a mixed drink and wondered what happened to the rest of the drinks. Honestly have never seen a mixed drink or wine pour that small. Limited app selection also high priced for amount of food and not very good. Love Maple and Pine so very disappointing. The view isn't worth it. The server could have been the highlight since she was efficient but she charged us for a $14 drink we didn't order. read more

Sure, the ambiance is incredible. Other than that, the service is terrible. I've been there only a handful of times over the past six months, and each time I go, the people working behind the bar A) take over ten minutes to even approach and B) they have told me "we're closing soon" when clearly they are not. I've worked in the service industry for years, and for such a nice spot, I have never seen people working not interested in making money. It truly blows my mind. In fact, I've never seen so many glasses get cleaned and customers not get service. If you're trying to have a quick drink there before the night pursues, get ready to wait if you open a tab. There are other places with much better quality of service. Don't wast your time or money. read more

Customer service is awful. Do not trust literature in room. Room Service stopped an hour early!! Also, walls are paper thin! No privacy.

Spent an amazing weekend at Quirk with my one year old son and Mom! The staff was so welcoming and attentive. The vibe is awesome and nothing beats cocktails on their rooftop. We arrived during First Friday's and loved the energy of Art Walk. Shopped at Mod & Soul a block away and enjoyed unique food at Quirk's restaurant. Perfect place to stay in RVA. Thanks for a lovely, memorable weekend. read more

So I have stayed here before and loved it enough to book again. Knowing I would be in Richmond for the race my fiance' booked us one night there. Knowing we were staying there we thought we would like to check out the hotel for our wedding place possibility. A week prior I left messages with the sales dpt to which we played phone tag. Someone finally contacted me and we discussed that I would be there that friday night only. I was told that someone would contact me and possibly meet after 5:00 that Friday night to show us the wedding area options. There was a wedding happening the saturday night following so everyone seemed a bit stressed. Checked in asked if we could meet with someone to show us around. I was told that the sales person had left for the day. Then that night we were told check at desk saturday morning there would be a manager to speak with. Went to the desk Saturday morning where we were told we probably wouldn't be able to see the rooftop. Which was a bummer because the whole point of us staying there was to check everything out. Pretty frustrating, BUT we talked to Allison that worked the front desk and SHE was amazing. She saw that I was a little frustrated she asked to see if she could show us options other than the rooftop as it still wasn't open yet. She graciously showed us around and apologized. She was awesome. There was also Ian that I would talk to about the situation. He would see us every so often we chatted about the situation. The next thing I knew he connected us with Brendan Pengidore. Ian said 'he has a key to everything let me see if he can show you the roof.' I mean how awesome was he?! So Brendan came right over was gracious again apologized for the mix up. Showed us the rooftop was so patient and kind as well as the penthouse suites. Those three definitely restored my faith in the Quirk Hotel. I'm from Richmond currently living in Virginia Beach. Fell in love with this hotel as it was me and my and fiance's first trip together staying in that very hotel. To be married in a hotel in a city that holds my heart on the rooftop in my head seemed amazing, but looked like was not going to happen. The whole reason we stayed there was in hopes to meet with someone that could speak with us and show us around. So in the end these 3 people gave me hope. I adore this hotel and Richmond. Heres to hoping we have our wedding 05-2020 We shall see... hoping to give 5 stars soon read more

Again, love this place. The wife and I always stop here whenever we're in the area. The drinks AND food selections are VERY unique, and we really appreciate that when dining out, as we eat out a lot, and the standard fare can get pretty boring. The chef here goes out of his way to make the selection very different. The local customers are also very nice and well dressed. Love the atmosphere, and love the menu. Years after you open, if there are still long lines to get in, you know you're doing something right. read more

the Iron Society is a truly great cocktail. everyone has a bourbon/aperol/shrub thing now but this one is truly worth its juice.

The overall setup of the roof doesn't maximize the space very well. Service was slow and the food options were basically nonexistant - unless you wanted potato chips in a fancy bowl. The views are great and that's what gets the stars in this review. The sunset is also probably stellar from up there but other than that unfortunately there's nothing else that will pull us back here anytime soon. read more

We just stayed at this hotel last night and it's ridiculously cool! The customer service at this place is top notch, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience at this cool and unique hotel! The rooms are very nice and modern. The art that is scattered around in the lobby, restaurant area, and even halls on each floor are really nice! The main floor and lobby area are gorgeous with high ceilings, large windows, and really nice architecture throughout. I'm loyal to Marriott, but when choosing to spend $100 more than at Quirk for a boring older hotel, it was a no-brainer. Plus the amount of points to waste at the Richmond Marriott would not have been worth it. The Maple and Pine restaurant on-site is very nice and the staff at this hotel in every area are what really makes this place special. Our check-in was excellent thanks to the gentleman that checked us in (I really wish I knew his name!). He really took care of us and explained everything and gave us a great room!! Thank you for a great stay!! read more

This review is for the rooftop bar. Long line to get in for no apparent reason. Once there, the views were nice and the waitress was nice. We had a big party. It was hot out in the sun, but there was not enough shade so people ended up crowded around the shady areas. The cocktails were inexplicably bad. Gin and tonic with a top-shelf gin was flat and tasted like pool water. Had to send the first one back, but the second was no better. Others in our party were just choking their drinks down. Drinks this expensive should not taste like they are watered down. read more

Expected more given all the press and coming from the Ukrops family. Paper thin walls, our toilet was broken, the window bottom was like 8 feet above the floor so it was pointless, even the coffee cup lids don't fit. Too focused on unnecessary details and not on the basic product. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Jefferson and just walk down to the Quirk for a drink. read more

Stayed in one of their split level suites. The space is very nice, but the sitting room is minimalist almost to the point of being cold. Table lamp was outfitted with electrical plug that wouldn't fit the sockets and was just left there unplugged. The space is still very nice, and the staff and service were first class. You can tell the hotel is still on its shakeout cruise, as fits and finishes still need attention, but I'd recommend it to any visitors to Richmond. read more
