I got the orange and pineapple agua fresca which I highly recommend. Sweet, but not too sweet, and definitely refreshing. Loved how unique their chips were too. The chicken enchilada I got transported me back to Oaxaca. All the flavors melded so well together-- sweet, savory, with a little spice. I really enjoyed the Barbacoa and carne asada tacos too! We really enjoyed our dinner. We each had three tacos, which were Carne Asada, Pollo, and Cod. They were all really good. The homemade blue tortillas are special. I particularly recommend the Carne Asada. To start we had the guacamole and chips. Somewhat spicy, as others mentioned, but I liked it a lot. Lovely ambiance- roomy, bright and quiet. What's that underneath that rich, dark, spicy(mild) mole sauce, it's Chicken enchiladas with a side of whole beans please. Quiote dishes are super flavorful, not huge portions like some Mexican restaurants but the food is bursting with satisfying flavors. It's a nice change from some of the other Mexican restaurants in town. We arrived a little late but they were happy to serve. They also have interesting tacos ala carte. I believe they should offer some rice & beans on the plate not making you order separate. And while they're at it some chips & salsa would be nice too. The ambiance for a Mexican restaurant is very sterile, it needs to feel more warm & inviting. They need to match the interior with their fabulous food offerings because I'm craving their mole sauce but not the ambiance. read more

Oh wow, what a find in Petaluma! I would have to say the best street tacos I've ever eaten were found here. I had the carne asada and pollo asado tacos and they were the bomb in flavor. My wife got the enchiladas with mole sauce and she loved them as well. We shared some frijoles and arroz verde - delicious. It is hard to believe you can get tacos this good north of LA, but it is true. We have been to Quiote a few times now and everything we have tried has been great. Just had what I thought would be dinner at Quixote. I had the pork tostada which was very sparse. Paper thin tortilla almost no beans, 4 slices of pork, very small amount of shredded lettuce radish. It was very underwhelming and the dish just didn't work. Everything was cut so thin except the pork, I felt like all of the ingredients together did not support the pork! My dinner date had chicken enchiladas in a mole sauce. He loved the chicken but was put off by how sweet the mole was. We also had the guacamole appetizer, very disappointing it was mashed up avocado pulp with cheese on top. It reminded me of the guacamole that you get in the little containers at Costco! Sonoma County's Mexican food scene is improving greatly now. While I love Tacqueria Santa Rosa & Tacqueria Santa Rosa #5, and of course El Roy's, things got way upped when I discovered Freaking Tacos. I read about Quiote when I was trying to find new restaurants and they do NOT disappoint! I do not know what I got tbqh, I have to check their IG page, which I can't find at the moment but their card is possibly in our car. Even the Mushroom Taco was fantastic (usually vegetarian mushroom things are horrible. NOT here!) Their tacos are divine! They have other things on the menu too but I could not take a photo of it as I was picking it up to go & we could not find a parking space on Kentucky Street. TLDR? This place is better then Freaking Tacos & El Roy's! I can't believe it. It is literally the best. The family that owns this place is lovely. I can not wait to go back! Do yourself a favor and visit Quiote. You'll receive a warm welcome there where the staff are happy to guide you through the food choices. They offer excellent regional cuisine that's quite different from the typical Sonoran food you may be used to eating. We enjoyed the guacamole appetizer with two additional salsas. House made blue corn tortillas come with a variety of fillings, all delicious. There are many other entrees and side dishes on the menu. Our only regret is that we don't live in the area.
