La Azteca has been a favorite of mine for a while! The portions are HUGE and the staff is always kind and helpful. My go-to is either the nachos or a wet burrito with salsa roja. Those two never disappoint. This time around, we placed a pickup order for 2 burritos and one order of nachos. They were ready with 15 minutes of placing the order. The inside of the restaurant was pretty empty and is very clean. I love the decorations on the walls as well. I don't know if we just caught them on a meh day this time around but the food wasn't as flavorful as it has been in the past. Specifically, the salsas. I love the salsas and remember them being spicier but they might have toned it down a bit. The burrito was huge (as usual) and was stuffed with rice, beans, guac, sour cream, lettuce, pico, and cheese. For some reason, the sour cream appeared to be underneath the burrito which is not something they usually do. The guac was only in one half of the burrito which also isn't usually the case. The rice and beans were good. I just wish there was more cheese and sauce and better spread of the ingredients! This was the first time I got anything under perfect from this place so Im hoping it was just a one time thing. I will update this review next time I visit!

This place is located in a small shopping center, if you don't pay attention you'll miss it. We like to come here for lunch because the food is always good and their price is way reasonable then most places. The people are always welcoming and they have big servings. Come check it out and you won't be disappointed .

Tortilla soup

Service - we were greeted and seated right away. Our server was pleasant and on top of it. Ambiance - the restaurant was cozy and on the quiet side. It was clean along with the restrooms. Food - I had the tortilla soup. It came with a lot of vegetables so I thought it was the vegetable soup. The cheese and the tortilla strips were on the bottom of the bowl. I would have preferred the strips on top so they would still have a little crisp to them. It was very cheesy which was good. The broth was quite flavorful. The chips and salsa were also decent. The chips weren't on the greasy side and the salsa was savory as well.

I loved this place. It is out of the way but well worth the search. It was not crowded for lunch. We were looking for a good and quick and excellent sit-down place for lunch. This turned out to be the perfect place. I got the Avocado Salad, and it was the best. I was looking for some light food but good and filling. The avocados were the best. I like how they were not all chopped up but larger slices of the Avacado.

Initially went to get sushi but ended up here. Thankfully the service here was significantly better. The margaritas are super good and has just the right amount of alcohol. They only had 1 New York steak and I ended up with it, good fat to meat ratio and cooked just as asked. The cheese enchiladas that came with it were STUFFED full of cheese. The hot sauce they offer I believe is house made and spicy. Absolutely loved it and would go back just to eat some more. Guacamole came in a little flour tortilla bowl that tasted amazing. Staff is super friendly and quick. Definitely will be stopping by again in the future.

Service was great. Food was great. Everything was delicious. We were a party of five and we were very lucky to be seated right away in a booth. All five of us were happy. We were four adults and one child and they had a kids menu. Everything tasted so fresh. Can't wait to go back again!

This is the 1st plate. The portion of meat is very small and there is no guacamole or sour cream. This does not look like a $28 plate.

Great food. Friendly service. I enjoyed the enchiladas. Sitting at the front by windows in the afternoon can be a little on the warm side.

Great food and fast service. La Azteca quesadilla with chorizo is the best. Salsa is probably the best in town.

Been going here for over 20 years. After all these years, I still love the chili verde burrito with green sauce.

Quiote

Is this the Best Mexican restaurant in Sonoma County?…read more Don't let the simple, unfussy interior fool you -- Quiote is quietly doing some of the most exciting Mexican cooking in the Bay Area. This family-run Jalisco-style spot in downtown Petaluma sources quality ingredients (heirloom maize, Rancho Gordo beans, fresh local seafood), and it shows in every bite. And, of course, the staff is warm, personable, and genuinely happy to walk you through the menu -- take them up on it. Guac & Salsa -- I've had a lot of chips. These might be the best I've ever had. The raspadas are the move here: thin, crispy, shatteringly light corn chips with a texture unlike anything you'd expect. Not your standard tortilla chip -- closer to something airier and more delicate. The guac and salsa alongside are equally solid. Molotes -- Traditional Mexican street snack: golden, torpedo-shaped corn masa dough fried crisp on the outside, packed with savory filling (think potato, chorizo, cheese), and served with salsa and crema. The exterior crunch giving way to the warm filling is deeply satisfying. Highly recommended. Tacos ($7.50 each) -- Yes, $7.50. And yes, worth it. The 100% maiz handmade tortillas are the foundation everything is built on, and they're exceptional. I worked through a lot of the menu and didn't find a miss -- al pastor, barbacoa, cochinita pibil, carne asada, fish -- all executed with care. If you're not sure where to start, just ask. The staff knows the menu cold and will point you right. Quiote isn't trying to be flashy. It's trying to be correct -- and it nails it. One of the best Mexican meals I've had, full stop.

FINALLY tried Quiote (took me long enough), and the experience was amazing!…read more Obviously, the best part of dining with someone is turning the meal into a full menu sampling. We started with the Guacamole (a generous serving), the Spicy Tuna Tostada, and Shrimp Tacos. ALL of which were absolutely amazing. You could easily make a full meal from their shareable plates, but we decided to sample broadly on our first visit. For our main course, we split the Ribeye entrée. I must stress how shareable this portion is (it's a lot of meat, but for my protein-focused people, this would be a great one). The steak was prepared perfectly and came with charred grilled avocado and fresh tortillas. Everything, down to the side accompaniments and the great cocktails, was top-tier. On a more critical note, I highly recommend planning ahead: we made our reservation a couple of weeks in advance, which seems necessary as the restaurant clearly gets very busy in the evenings. Will be back to sample the rest of the menu since now I'm obsessed.
