This is a hidden gem! A friend recommended we try it, and we couldn't have been more impressed…read more My only complaint is the name - it doesn't sound like restaurant and it's hard to remember! The food was amazing! And very reasonable. And the service was excellent. They make great sandwiches and pair them with the most amazing salads! Or, if you prefer, you can just get the salad. There were four of us for lunch, and we each got something different. I got the roast beef sandwich, and the spinach salad with it. It was SOOO good - and big enough that I took half home! My husband had the turkey sandwich and the Chinese chicken salad. We're going back next week, and the only problem is trying to figure out which delicious combination to try!

I just moved to Reno, and accidentally found NTI when searching for a roasting rack. No luck in the…read moreusual stores. Thankfully, NTI had exactly what I was looking for, and so much more. A locally owned small business one-stop-shop for everything culinary, they offer specialty kitchen supplies, a cafe, and a culinary school. The owners Lara and Jay greeted me, and were so kind and helpful. Eager to learn new skills and meet more new friends, I signed up for three classes - Autumn Soups and Breads, Slow Cooker, and Sushi, all taught by Lara and assisted by her generous and attentive staff. Don't worry, you don't need to be a master chef to take a class here. No matter your level of experience, Lara's chatty style is accessible and interactive. In the demo style classes, you watch, learn, and get fed! The Sushi class was hands on, so fun! After Lara showed us various techniques, we worked in small groups, with staff floating around and helping us when we had questions. The end result was sharing our creations with our group and schmoozing over a glass of wine. I was impressed that before classes, I was asked to provide a list of allergies. In class, the staff KNEW this, and when I politely declined samples of foods I could not eat, they went out of their way, without being prompted, to offer accommodations. For example, they brought me a soup bowl without pasta and cheese. Instead of feeling like an outsider, it was nice to be treated with respect and concern. The NTI philosophy of good cooking comes down to quality ingredients, the proper techniques, and the right tools. Now, that I've gone home and tried some of the recipes, the proof is in the results. You can't take short cuts if you want good flavor. Lara gave us the low down on where to buy the freshest meats, fish, and produce, gave tips on cutting and cooking techniques, and made recommendations for awesome cooking tools specific to the recipes she demoed. I've bought a few things from their store that truly help me in the kitchen. The vegetable peeler alone has literally changed my life. I'm looking forward to taking more classes soon. I feel welcome there, and I have so much I still want to learn. NTI is an incredible resource, and we are lucky to have them!

WOW! My friends invited us to a Facebook Live cooking show with Chef Jonathan Chapin of Reno…read moreRecipes. This event was a dinner and show that would rival any fun night out in Reno. Chef Jonathan puts on a raucous, joke-filled (R-rated), cooking show with audience participation and brings along a wonderful cast of cooking teammates to make for a wonderful event! When we arrived at our friend's home, there were appetizers and drinks out. Chef Jonathan laid the ground rules for the live show, and then the jokes started. I'm sure he would use different one's if kids were present, but if you're over 18, all bets are off! LOL The live show had humor, great smells, drinks handed out, and tastings for the guests. He made food for vegetarians, lactose-free dishes, and all different types of food preferences...truly a remarkable feat. During the show, I learned a few things, laughed a lot, and was VERY entertained. The food was DEEELISH! There was plenty of food for everyone, and a lot of good times were had by all. With the holidays just around the corner, if you want to have a memorable dining experience for your friends and family, DEFINITELY call Reno Recipes to reserve a date!

Be advised, the opening page of this site says "meet the chef", but you don't actually get Nick…read more"the chef" even after being convinced to pay $175 pp for a mexican food spread. Instead you may get a questionably trained chef who shows up late, forgot ingredients, didn't cook part of the menu and is a professional at reheating. Highlights of our overpriced meal included shrimp that was so rubbery we didn't know if it was shrimp, a sludge of mixed vegetables that were seemingly from a can, rice that was pre-made and reheated, corn overcooked, and steak that was like rubber and well done with no flavor. This professionally trained chef also shared that the salad dressing (the only edible portion of the meal) is easy to make, "just hidden valley ranch packet mixed with chipotle. The empanadas are also easy to make, just buy frozen pastry dough and put corn and meat in". Tortillas were out of a bag, and the guac and sour cream served out of paper bowls that we supplied. That price doesn't include plates or even a cocktail or wine? We requested a tres leche cake, which he pulled out of a box and told us he ordered from a bakery. Of course there is some value to this individual showing up, but frankly he should have been paid as a middle man, not a chef. Despite the horrific food, I was excited he agreed to do all the dishes until I opened the dishwasher the next morning only to find it has been run with no soap. The final icing on the cake was the knock on the door 10 minutes after he left to remind us we needed to tip him directly and not through the company or he doesn't see a dime of it, something seems weird there...??? I have never left a poor review on yelp before, but if there is ever one that is deserving of it this is it.
