I can't get enough of this place. Every time I come here, the food is delicious, service is outstanding and the prices are reasonable. I stopped here with my husband and ordered my favorite half sandwich and half salad. I ordered the Kelly Salad and a roast beef sandwich. The roast beef was perfect and the focaccia bread was fresh and soft! We ate out on the patio and our service was outstanding. We had multiple people refill our drinks, remove plates... so attentive. We felt spoiled!
Great afternoon! Attended the Aces baseball opening day game and subsequently participated in an engaging culinary class at Nothing To It, where we learned to prepare several traditional Sicilian dishes.
Anyone in Reno looking for a cooking class -- Nothing to It! Cooking School is the place! It is so interactive, a great learning experience, and fun! My mom, sister & I signed up for a Friday night Gumbo, Jambalaya And Beignets class and we loved it! Lara is a great host & her assistants/teams were so fun! The team pairs you up with your group & others, which we loved since we met a pair of lovely ladies and as a team we cooked the meal for the table. We loved having food/cooking assignments for each person. As a pescatarian attendee, I wasn't able to try the food, however I did participate & the staff were so accommodating by providing an alternative to enjoy a meal with the table. Super fun night & will be coming back!
Went with a group for lunch. Limited menu but everyone was happy with what they got. I had the Monterey which was a tuna salad. Very filling with a tasty tomato soup. They do not serve alcohol at lunch, apparently. If you want cooking utensils of spices they have a nice range, plus cookbooks.
Honest event review: if the classes are a reflection of the meals they make, 5/5 for the whole experience! Just wow!! Company event? Date? Or just going to lunch? This place can deliver! We went to a company dinner session with the staff and boy oh boy, did we have fun! Learned to make some delicious meals while being taught together and shown demonstrations on how to make our individual meals, all while being able to bond over food and sharing our creations with our peers! From simple recipes to some more intricate ones, we started off our night by making apps and dessert. This followed by some amazing laughs and mingling all while having our dinners made for us. This is going to be an event review as the food was delicious, but they've earned a follow up review on the dine in experience. As a date idea, or company event. I recommend this place even to just come and dine one afternoon. They were so nice and welcoming as well as offer so many different types of class options!
I just moved to Reno, and accidentally found NTI when searching for a roasting rack. No luck in the usual stores. Thankfully, NTI had exactly what I was looking for, and so much more. A locally owned small business one-stop-shop for everything culinary, they offer specialty kitchen supplies, a cafe, and a culinary school. The owners Lara and Jay greeted me, and were so kind and helpful. Eager to learn new skills and meet more new friends, I signed up for three classes - Autumn Soups and Breads, Slow Cooker, and Sushi, all taught by Lara and assisted by her generous and attentive staff. Don't worry, you don't need to be a master chef to take a class here. No matter your level of experience, Lara's chatty style is accessible and interactive. In the demo style classes, you watch, learn, and get fed! The Sushi class was hands on, so fun! After Lara showed us various techniques, we worked in small groups, with staff floating around and helping us when we had questions. The end result was sharing our creations with our group and schmoozing over a glass of wine. I was impressed that before classes, I was asked to provide a list of allergies. In class, the staff KNEW this, and when I politely declined samples of foods I could not eat, they went out of their way, without being prompted, to offer accommodations. For example, they brought me a soup bowl without pasta and cheese. Instead of feeling like an outsider, it was nice to be treated with respect and concern. The NTI philosophy of good cooking comes down to quality ingredients, the proper techniques, and the right tools. Now, that I've gone home and tried some of the recipes, the proof is in the results. You can't take short cuts if you want good flavor. Lara gave us the low down on where to buy the freshest meats, fish, and produce, gave tips on cutting and cooking techniques, and made recommendations for awesome cooking tools specific to the recipes she demoed. I've bought a few things from their store that truly help me in the kitchen. The vegetable peeler alone has literally changed my life. I'm looking forward to taking more classes soon. I feel welcome there, and I have so much I still want to learn. NTI is an incredible resource, and we are lucky to have them!
Another great evening with friends. Learning healthy eating habits. Preparing the meal with friends and enjoying our efforts. The staff at this place are so much fun. They have a wealth of knowledge. Every experience I've had so far is excellent. If you want to just pop in for a class or you need a something special for your kitchen. This is a great place for all those needs. They also have a deli attached.
*This review is for a cooking class at the center. I brought a friend here for the Taste of Tuscany class. I had never been to a cooking class and this experience didn't let me down. Lara and the crew were so fun and inspiring to work with. She has such a passion for sharing the history behind foods, cooking techniques, and using high quality ingredients. Lara spoke for about 30 minutes and demonstrated how to make the dough for the noodles. The students at the tables are put into groups and each group works on certain items for the meal. We took turns dicing, slicing, mixing, and sampling our work. There was also a vinegar and oil tasting table. Wine was served with our dinner. The class starts at 6 and we sat down to eat a a little after 8. So I would suggest snacking a bit before you get to the center. Some people brought containers to take leftovers with them. The crew served our tables, checked in on us periodically, and bused the tables when the dinner was over. 100$ per class is a bit pricey, but I think it is worth the experience that you get while there.There calendar is full of classes for every kind of chef. Classes book up quickly, so keep an eye out for one that interests you. I am already eyeing future classes.
An nonprofit I belong to had a field trip to the Verdi TMWA Hydroelectric Plant today and we ordered 25 lunches to go from Nothing To It. Lunches included a whole sandwich, their pasta salad, a chocolate chip cookie, napkin and plastic fork. We planned to have a picnic, but the weather did not cooperate and we ended up in my home having our picnic. Most of us chose the turkey brie sandwich, (my favorite) and we had a couple vegans and a no gluten order as well. Everything was perfect. Our food was fresh, tasty, and our lunch kit included everything we needed to enjoy lunch with the assembled company. All that for a mirror mere $20 a person. What a great deal! I recommend, with the nicer weather coming, if you're planning picnics or outings to order ahead and get sandwiches from Nothing To It and make it an easy, breezy, fun day.

Such an amazing place!! Went for a hands on Girls Night Out cooking class and it did not disappoint! From learning new recipes and learning techniques these classes are well worth it! And you get a tasty meal that you helped prepare!! This particular class was a Crepes class! I have always been intimidated to make crepes but I can say now I WILL be making them at home!!! They also have a deli that is open for lunch and a store with SO many kitchen gadgets, foods, spices, cookbooks. It's hard to walk in and not want to buy everything!! I highly recommend checking this place out!! Got kids that want to learn??? They have kids/teens classes as well!!
10 of us celebrated my birthday Saturday, Feb 22, 2025 with a wonderfully tasty lunch. The reservation was easy to make! We had a lovely long table in the larger "classroom." Our waiter, Oscar, was excellent!! He always seemed to appear at the perfect time! I had the Chicken Curry, (normally a salad,) but I asked for a sourdough sandwich! As always, the Bread Pudding was "to die for! " A generous slice, dolloped with softly whipped cream, in a pool of sauce! I brought Mumm Napa sparkling wine to celebrate! Everyone loved the food, festivities, and sunny day! Nothing To It Culinary Center is a perfect location for a party!
I just completed the Techniques Series cooking classes at Nothing To It and I'm sad it's over! I learned so much and have fixed a bunch of the recipes at home. Lara and her team are amazing and make cooking accessible to all. My family has taken many classes at Nothing To It over the years and we all agree that they are a great way to learn how to make delicious food! The classes are fun to attend with friends, or solo, like I did. You meet such wonderful people who also love good food and are eager to learn. The classes are hands on and you are rewarded by a beautiful dinner and wine at the end. This spot is such a gem in Reno. Can't wait to take more classes.

Had a fun girls night with my mom, sister, niece and daughter. It was my daughter and nieces first time at the school. We chose one pan weeknight dinners and I'm so glad we did. The menu was perfect. Everything tasted amazing. The girls were taught new ways to chop vegetables. But just having fun together was great outside of a holiday. I'll post the menu we had tonight, surprisingly for me, the orzo pasta primavera was amazing and the sheet pan with gnocchi and Italian sausage was probably a new favorite. I've never had sheet pan cake, I will definitely be making that again soon. Thanks to the staff for always being so friendly and helpful. read more

This review is for their cooking class. We took part in the St Patrick's day whiskey menu and had a blast! We were grouped with 5 lovely ladies to help us create a feast, all featuring whiskey. Our menu: Bacon whiskey jam with Irish cheddar on baguette Guinness and Whiskey beef tenderloin stew Irish soda bread Whiskey whipped cream on apple cobbler The cooking was fun and informative. All the ingredients were already precut and measured so cooking went very smoothly. Tasks are split within the group and each group has a teacher to guide us through the cooking. The amount of food we made was plenty to make all of us in the group very full and we even had enough to take some home. All the food tasted fantastic. Dinner was served with red and white wine. Since it was a whiskey menu, we even got to try out 4 whiskeys after dinner. Not having to clean after making such a big meal was great. They have a lot of very interesting classes offered so I will definitely come back again. read more
First time trying Nothing To It for lunch today. I thought it was only a cooking class facility, but they have a gourmet deli with delicious soup, salad, and sandwiches as well! I ordered the Santa Fe Chicken sandwich, and my mom got the Cabernet Splunker sandwich, and we split the NTI Chicken Caesar salad. There's a shop at the front and an open area for cooking classes. I hope to come back for a class soon, there's a cheese making workshop in March that I will definitely have to sign up for! read more

First time to dine at Nothing To It. Driven by this establishment many times but never really knew it was a culinary delight. Was recommended highly by some friends. First impression is you would never know this was a culinary cooking class/restaurant. Once you enter they have a nice retail shop with everything you would want for cooking. The restaurant is in the back and very warm and inviting. Now to the food. I ordered the Turkey Brie sandwich and the side I chose the Chutney Chicken Salad. All I can say is WOW. The Roasted Turkey and the French Brie on a ciabatta roll was SO GOOD. The side of Chutney salad was a huge serving and it was also crazy good! And for $11.95 I can honestly say this this the freshest and best tasting food and BEST VALUE in all of Reno. Oh and Oscar was our waiter person and he's VERY GOOD. Our food and beverages were out fast and he was there to make sure we enjoyed our lunch. GREAT SERVICE!!! I'll be telling everyone and I'll be back! read more

We had lunch here and perused the small culinary shop with a gift certificate we had on hand. The shop is small but has many fun kitchen items. The cafe has an inside and outside seating area. The outside is partially shaded from trees but has umbrellas as well. I had a French dip style sandwich and then my wife and I enjoyed their bread pudding for dessert. The sandwich was really good, the bread soft, the ingredients nicely balanced, and the au jus was just right. As much as i enjoyed the sandwich, the bread pudding was amazing! I'm drooling just thinking about it ;) So decadent, moist, and I loved the little chew of raisins inside. Great spot for a quality lunch and a little shopping. Not too mention they hold many cooking classes as well! read more

My first visit to this hidden gem in Reno. Stopped in for a take out lunch. Deli was very busy, but my service was still fast and friendly. Food is made to order with fresh, quality ingredients. My NTI Turkey BLT was absolutely delicious. I paired it with a bowl of fresh-made tomato soup which hit the spot on the chilly winter day. Also shopped for stocking stuffers and gifts in the store. Amazing variety of kitchenware, gadgets and specialty foods. Store staff is friendly and ready to help you find that special gadget or answer questions. What a great locally-owned business!!! read more

What a hidden gem in Reno! I am so excited that I signed up for a cooking class at nothing to it culinary center, the experience was phenomenal. You are arranged in groups of 6 and have a set of instructions to follow after a quick intro and demonstration from the director. Everything is pre-portioned for you & each group is assigned a helper! Not only do you get to learn the recipe and have fun making the food- there are tables set up beautifully for you to enjoy your meal as if in a restaurant setting! I signed up for Vietnamese night & the menu was shaking beef, shrimp spring rolls, papaya salad & lemongrass chicken. All of our dishes were loaded with flavor and came out tasting phenomenally. The beef was perfect (my entire group liked our meat on the rarer side which worked out great) and I was amazed that one green papaya shredded was all that was needed to create a big bold and beautiful salad. It's so fun to work with ingredients that you may never have worked with or heard of before to expand your palette! I had never worked with rice paper, yucca or green papaya but by the end of the night I was a pro. The best part is they email you the recipe so you can recreate at home! I ended up making the spring rolls again and now will incorporate it into part of my rotating dinner menu (and impress guests). I can't wait to take another class or try their lunch menu! Such a unique experience to have in Reno. The one drawback of a cooking class is that you eat on the later end around 8/8:30 so make sure you are not entering the experience hungry! Eat a snack beforehand (or I wish the class started a half hour earlier would have been perfect!) P.S. make sure to bring your own Tupperware. I was not warned beforehand but there will definitely be some leftovers so make sure to bring a container! read more

I experienced a hands on cooking class here; what a wonderful time. Menu was Dinner in Provençe. Lara & her crew are so helpful, friendly & truly want you to experience the full range of cooking your entire meal, not just one portion of it. The facility is so clean, the tools in the kitchen are second to none. They help you through the meal preparation but don't hover. I highly recommend this for a group of family, friends, co-worker team building, or by yourself. The culinary store is full of great kitchen items; gift ideas; cookbooks. Top notch facility!! read more
Yak.. couldn't find the "Add a Tip" button on my Yelp app in time to let everyone know that yearly, Nothing to It has their anniversary party. These guys know how to throw a party. Love the appetizers, desserts, drinks, and best yet, their next year's calendar is showcased to us patrons. Looks like I'll be trying out my pot pie and chile relleno skills in 2020. I have been to NTI for a few cooking classes now, so I figure it is time I post a review. Tonight, hubby and I took the Date Night -Grilling class. We made a Grilled Vegetable Salad, Pork Tenderloin wrapped in Prosciutto, Mediterranean Cod, and for dessert, a Berry Biscotti Crisp. I enjoy cooking, but I am not very comfortable around a grill. This class was the inspiration I needed to work on my grill skills. Laura Ritchie, the owner, is a fabulous teacher. I always come home from her classes with new recipes to try that instantly become family favorites. Tonight was no exception. We enjoyed wine, sat down to a delicious meal of our own creation, and socialized with other fun and interesting foodies. In fact, I'll be making the Berry Biscotti Crisp for our camping trip this weekend. Check out their class calendar on their website. Hubby and I have also taken classes for Eggs Benedict, Tacos & Tequila, Sushi, and Indian food. All were not only fun, but informative. We will definitely be taking more classes from NTI!! read more
