    ABSOLUTE QUILTING MAYHEM!
    Ze'eva K.

This place is super cool! Best quilting shop I've ever been to! This place might be called Quilting Mayhem, but, it is actually so satisfyingly organized that it might be worth a trip just to feel some order and peace in your life. There are all of these shelves with a spectrum of colors and countless options of patterns. I saw a bookshelf with 100 different options of white fabric alone. There are a lot of project options hanging around the store. Very cute. Very Snohomish. I actually don't make quilts, but I know people who do, and I'm definitely going to recommend this place. I otherwise felt very inspired for my own interest in either crocheting or visual graphics by looking at some of the available quilt patterns.

    Lovingly folded and presented fabric

I visited Quilting Mayhem for the first time last weekend and I'm so glad I did! The selection is terrific. The building is spacious, clean and bright. The staff was pleasant and friendly but my favorite part of the experience was that after the lady cut the fabrics that I had chosen she folded them in a really lovely fashion instead of just handing them to me in squares. It was simple but it was an extra touch and made my purchase seem just a bit more special.

Fabric to the right, machines and classes to the left.

So, even though it's a bit off the beaten path, Calico Creations has become a place I can rely on to grab the perfect fabric for my latest project. So I try to stop there when I'm passing near (or through) MV. They carry all of the major designers and latest lines. From modern prints by Tula Pink and Kaffe Fassett to more traditional calicos and Civil War style fabrics, you will find it here. Not to mention they have an extensive collection of solids and blender fabrics, baby fabrics, pattern books and even some pre-cuts (not many, but I'll take it). Not in a sewing mood? Find inspo from their ever-rotating samples adorning their windows and walls. On a budget? They have an impressive (and huge) sale area in the back, where fabric is $10/yard (or lower). My only criticism is their small space. They could easily fill a shop twice the size, and as a result many MANY of their bolts are sitting on the floor. They try to keep it organized, and do a pretty good job, but it bears mentioning you'll need to "file" through bolts on the floor that aren't as easy to view as the ones on the shelves.

Took my first class today (cathedral window pillow top) and it was awesome! I highly recommend…read morethis shop for many reasons - selection of fabrics, notions and their class was great!!

I showed up on Black Friday looking for a new vacuum to replace my 6-7 year old Shark. The Shark…read morehas been fine, it's needed a brush replacement and plenty of filter replacements and cleanings as it's bagless, but it's just not really keeping up with our two dogs and current lifestyle. Amanda greeted me right away and started getting information on what I was looking for, what machine I have currently, aspects of my house layout that might impact my decision, etc. My own research on what to get next led me to SEBO, and Amanda demo'd both the Felix (which is what I was originally thinking would be a good fit) and the E3 (which ended up being a better fit and what I ended up going with). The E3 has been amazing. It doesn't try to sell you with all kinds of gimmicky technology, sensors, systems, etc. It has just enough to make sure I am at the right brush height, don't have anything stuck, and can alert me to when the bag needs changing. The SEBO does as well in one pass as the Shark would do only after I took a rubber broom to loosen up all the embedded dog hair, and it can get all the way under furniture my Shark had no chance to get under because it can lay practically flat. And the kicker? It's even quieter than the Shark. I never thought I'd be spending four-digits on a vacuum cleaner but, like with my Herman Miller office chair, this is one of those buy once, cry once kind of things (or at least buy once every decade or more kind of things). The warranty is fantastic and knowing I can just bring it to my closest Quality S&V location for service is even better. No futzing with online claims, no shipping, no waiting for contractors to come out, I can just bring it in locally. Thanks Amanda, and thanks Quality Sewing & Vacuum! :)
