I came here not expecting much and was very impressed. This park is one of our little jewels. Free parking and 9 bucks for an awesome seat. The beer is only $2, with $2.75 hot dogs. Great deal!!! I came here with my 3 year old and he had so much fun. They have a kids playground area where he just went wild. They even have a sports bar and grill in the outfield. Since I was with my son I did not partake of adult beverages, but I shall return with great thirst. Only concern was that the park did not have a lot of fans. would have been nice if more people would take advantage of the cool little ball park. read more

For many reasons, Minor League Baseball is better than Major League Baseball: cheap tickets ($6 for GA), cheap beer ($1 beer on Thursday nights), cheap and great hot dogs ($4 for a big one) and FREE parking. All in all you can go check a game out for under twenty bucks if you do it right. AND there are always tons of goofy between-innings promotions. The stadium itself is great. It doesn't have the old school charm of LaGrave in Fort Worth or all the glitz and glamor of the Ballpark in Arlington, but it serves the purpose. The suites are nice if you get a chance to go in there and the rest of the seats are great. Cup holders, plenty of leg room, not a bad seat, etc. For the kids there is a basketball court and some sort of wiffle ball field over on the side, if you have those kid things. I love this place. I love a good deal for a high quality product and this place is it. Go on Thursday nights; much fun. read more

Maybe it's because I don't venture out to Grand Prairie that often, but I had no idea they had a minor league baseball team, let alone a sizable stadium. Quiktrip Park is right between Lonestar Park and the Nokia Theater off I-30, and I was excited to take in a game this weekend with Megan M. and a solid crew of Yelpers and other fabulous peeps. Free parking, no crazy security checks and an alcohol filled suite with air conditioning?! I don't think I can go back to watching baseball with the common folk ever again. Seriously, the stadium is pretty nice and with the sun setting behind us, the heat wasn't too much of an issue. We had plenty of potent potables in the suite, but like most parks/stadiums, purchasing beer and concessions can get pricey. I'm a sucker for soft pretzels, so I shelled out $3 and was satisfied with the salty, doughy goodness (though it did remind me of the frozen pretzels you can find at the grocery store). The game was entertaining; we root root rooted for the home team, but sadly, the Air Hogs got their little tails kicked. There was even an on field fight, all the fun times of a hockey game, without the freezing cold to go along with it! Apparently they have boxing matches at the stadium at various points in the year, which sounds like it could be a blast and great people watching at the very least. So I'd definitely recommend the park; it's worth checking out if you're in the area and you enjoy baseball. And if you don't enjoy baseball, well, you're just being un-Amurrrrican. I am not much of a baseball person - I couldn't tell you who went to the World Series last year, or this year, or mostly any year except the one where the White Sox went. This I only know because they decided to have a Journey song as a theme song and invited Steve Perry to the series. I may not love baseball, but I do love Steve! Anyway, that being said, when someone says "suite", "free", and "booze", I am generally willing to go far out of my way to Grand Prairie to experience it. Ok, ok, I am not willing to drive that far, but I am willing to have my BF drive that far! Got there and met up with Megan M and some other yelpers and went to the suite. Air conditioned room, flat screen TV, two fridges, sink, seating (both inside and outside), and all behind home plate! The rest of the place looked cool - bar across the way, pool in the back of the outfield (although I hear that's where the kiddos all go so take that as you will), concession stands, and free people watching galore! Plenty of people are making this a family outing and looks like it is a lot of fun for everyone. They even have an Airhog mascot...who came into our suite on a motorized cooler for photo ops. (I should have cooler-jacked him!!) Overall I'd say I watched about 20 minutes of actual baseball, but I did hang out, laugh, act stuuupid, and drink a lot of vodka. And even though we lost, I thought the trip to QuickTrip Park to watch the Airhogs was a success!! read more

QuikTrip Park: home of the AirHogs! I have no idea what an 'AirHog' is. I thought it was those cool remote control vehicle things that they always try to sell you at the mall. But, surprisingly their mascot was not a flying remote control vehicle! Their mascot was, 'Ace Bacon' he kind of looks like The Hulk's ugly brother. Anyways, what about the park? The park is pretty nice; it's a little smaller than I expected...but it's still very nice. QuikTrip Park even has a pool in the outfield, but you have to privately rent that out if you want to jump in it. There is an interesting little bar & grill behind the left field wall. I wasn't able to eat there this time, but I am definitely going to try it next time. They offer your standard concession food and it all smelled pretty delicious and it looked they had fairly reasonable prices, so that's a plus. They don't allow you to bring any food or drinks into the park, so be sure to have some extra money for water. The bottle water sells for $2.50 there. The most surprising thing of the night (besides seeing the visiting manager throw a tantrum on the field) was how well the two teams played baseball. It looked like they really played the game right. I expected to see a lot of errors, but was pleasantly surprised by how well they played the game. It was also nice to see the players actually talk to fans and sign autographs, which is something you don't always see in the big leagues. Overall? It was a good time and the AirHogs won! QuikTrip Park (QTP) is the home of the Grand Prairie AirHogs baseball team from the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball. It's between the former Nokia Theatre and Lone Star Park. Tickets can be really cheap to inexpensive. Food and drink seem to be where the money is made. However, most Thursdays are "Thirsty Thursdays" with $1 beer. Most Sundays are family days with $1 hot dogs. Plan accordingly. The two comparisons in the area are LaGrave Field in Ft Worth (home of the Ft Worth Cats, in the same division) and Dr Pepper Park in Frisco (home of the RoughRiders, a Texas Rangers minor-league team.) I would say I prefer QTP quite a bit over LaGrave and it's about the same as Dr Pepper Park. When my wife and I were considering getting season tickets, we looked at the RoughRiders and the AirHogs and the parks are about the same distance from our house, but one is up the Dallas North Tollway at rush hour (ugh) and the other is against traffic from downtown down I-30. So, we're AirHogs fans. We've been to LaGrave and we've been to the Shreveport-Bossier Captains ballpark in Shreveport, and QTP outclasses them both. The AirHogs are one of the newest teams in the league, so they have one of the newest parks, and it shows. Independent baseball is pretty cheap compared to affiliated ball and especially compared to the pros, but in some ways, the game is much more interesting. These players are usually playing to prove they belong higher up the food chain and not just coasting along on their signing bonuses. I prefer independent ball! read more

I can't believe I get to be the first to review QTP! (Ok, the Airhogs announcer tried to make that nickname stick last year and it didn't work...they are back to calling it QuikTrip Park) This place was built brand new last year to house the also brand new Grand Prairie Air Hogs. It's pretty small if you are thinking along the lines of Rangers Ballpark, but miles above the big league stadiums, especially if you want to take your kids (or girlfriend) but they typically get bored by a 9 or more inning, 3 hour game. Tickets start at $6! We had seats last night 4 rows behind the home dugout and I paid $13 each, the highest price! Wander around when you go and see the playground, pitching competition game, POOL in the outfield (yes, bring your suit), party deck, and of course, full bar and restaurant also in the outfield. (side note on Whiskey Charlie's - the outfield bar - they have an "ice rail" where you set your drink to keep it cold on those hot Texas nights - many years in many bars and I have never seen one of those!!! very cool!!!) Of course, the concessions are just OK, definitely no competition for the Kincaid's Burgers at the Fort Worth Cats games, but I've kind of given up going to baseball games for the food. Maybe QuikTrip should add their roller taquitos and egg rolls to the stands? The baseball is definitely minor league but SO much fun, and for $6, how can you go wrong? Oh, the best part? As far as stadiums go for Independent league baseball this place is at the top of the heap. It's a pretty good gametime experience. Reasonably priced food and drinks. A nice park for the kiddos. All in all, a nice way to catch a ballgame at a good price. read more

We attended a baseball game here yesterday and loved it. The stadium is very nice with plenty of shade at a 7:05 game. It was not busy at all. The people who worked there thanked us for being at the game. Maybe it wasn't busy because the rangers and roughriders were both playing at home?!? Last night (Monday) military could get in free and they had $2 margaritas. I believe they have different specials each night of the week, so check their website. They also have a large bar & grill, and area for children to play in the stadium. This is a great place to relax and watch a baseball game. You should definitely check it out! read more

I have been going to Quik Trip Park to watch the AirHogs play for 2 years now. I must say, I had never been to a minor league baseball game before then. However, The Grand Prairie AirHogs have won my heart and loyalty since my first game! This place is NICE for a minor league ball park. I have been to and seen other small parks since getting into minor league baseball and Quik Trip park is better than most in the business. The players play hard and are not just getting a paycheck! They LOVE the game and have hopes of playing in the big leagues someday. This year's 2012 tickets are $8 (reserved), $12 (box seats), and $15 (for air-conditioned suite seating). Come on out and root for the AIRHOGS this year and help them defend their Championship!!! read more

Attended my first Airhogs game. What a disaster. No handicap parking available although arrived 1 hour 30 minutes before the game. Had to stand 1 hour 20 minutes in concession line to be served only to find out that two of the items I wanted they were out of. Never going back! read more
