Great place with a very large track. I got the privilege of being on pit row outside of the crowds, and it's something else to take this in without all of the nose. The tire marks all up and down the row. It's an aging track that shows it with all of the expansion joints and cracks taking place. The garage areas still showing the old 90's stone design. It's a very open track yet enclosed by the stands which can make it a very loud venue. The infield is very large, large enough that they can host smaller dirt racing and still have room for the trucks, RV's, and other vehicles. read more

My review is for the Gift of Lights 2022. I found my tickets on Groupon for $20. The lights last about 20-30 minutes depending on how fast you go through. We took our time and turned on our own Christmas music playlist (there's no music playing outside and no radio station to tune into like other light shows around). We even made our own hot cocoa to sip since we knew there was no Santa Village this year. We enjoyed looking at the different light themes and cruising through the tunnels, I just was surprised there was not music! But I'm thankful we found TMS because I wasn't able to pay $55 at Sugar Lane, they've got to be insane. I recommend seeing the lights if you get the $20 tickets otherwise you've spent too much, sorry to say. I would pay more if there were a Santa's village and more lights, definitely. Perhaps someone could relay this to the light decoration department for next year :) read more

We came here on New Year's Day to check out the gift of lights and I heard that there would be more lights this year than previous years. I recommend bringing your own snacks as the popcorn/drinks are overpriced. The staff are friendly and are helpful with showing you where to go. I got a ticket on Groupon for $21, so I recommend going there. The gift of lights took about 15-20 minutes when taking time to examine the light displays. I liked the entrance, the Christmas stars, angels and the arching displays of flowers and butterflies. The experience was underwhelming and pricey for the experience, however it's something to check out if you are in the area. read more

Half of the things you can't even make out what they are! Even with a good imagination, it was the worst light show we have ever been too by far!!! My first time coming to this spot and my first time watching NASCAR. Everything was well thought out and organized! We drove inside the area and there were plenty of signs directing you on where to go for parking. This place is huge so I could have been lost lol! They have tents and vendors set up early in the morning before the gates opened. We walked around and played some of the games they had for free swag. Texas Lotto was there so we definitely had to try a scratch off. It was definitely fun and a great experience for our first NASCAR race. read more

This is for the Christmas lights event. I visited TMS in 2021 to see the Christmas lights, It was easy to follow directions to the entrance where it was held. I was able to purchase my ticket at the gate with no issue. I went on a Tuesday I believe and I did not run into any traffic nor was it busy at the event. The flow of cars while driving through the lights was very slow and chill. Trust you want to go slow so you can see all the lights displayed. The path of the lights takes you from outside the track, through the side of if, underneath the bleachers and under the main track towards the garages inside the pit. What I liked best was the lights that were displayed underneath he bleachers. It was darker in there compared to the outside and they stood out way more. This part did take us a bit of time to get through but I realize the reason why traffic was moving so slowly was that at the end of the bleacher area there was the light tunnel! The 'big finally' was the tunnel of Christmas lights that they build for cars to go through that take you to the infield into Santas village. I liked it but it could have been longer and packed with more lights. It was also at a slight downhill so you gotta have your feet on the brake just in case. After this part is over the path takes you underneath the race track into the pits where Santas village is. Santas village has concessions where you can purchase hot chocolate, cookies, cotton candy etc. They also had small local vendors selling different types of merchandise and that was cute. There was also a stock car in the garage (roped off of course) so people could take their pictures with it. Along with that they had different holiday decorations you can take cute pictures in. I believe there was also an option to take pictures with santa for an additional price. After you got done doing that there was nothing else left to do except go home. While we were down in the pits we did see someone dressed as the Grinch so that was fun. I wish they would put Santa's village either at the beginning or in the middle of the drive instead of at the end. Having hot chocolate and cookies while looking at the Christmas lights would be a better idea instead of eating them at the end when there are no lights. Also, please go to the bathroom before you start your driving experience as they don't have any at the main gate; you will have to wait all the way till the end. Also the bathrooms available were not the cleanest or well stock and that is minus one star. The price for admission was reasonable, I think I paid $25 so very happy. If you have never been I recommend going at least once when is not busy because I drove by this place closer to Christmas and it looks like a traffic nightmare. read more

I've toured other sports arenas in the past so I had to add a NASCAR racetrack to the list. This had to be one of the most unique and exciting tours I've experienced. The tour starts off with viewing the track from the club seats and learning about the other structures on the premise. I didn't expect that the better seats were more towards the top than the bottom. The reason is that all of the fumes and debris from the cars are at the bottom. Next stop was the ballroom. The tour guide told us about events that were held here during race days and his experience at them. The last part of the tour was two laps around the track as a passenger. The tour guide (who has raced cars in the past) drives you around the track at speeds well above what you would experience on the highway. Here you can feel a fraction of the g-force that the race car drivers feel when taking those turns. After our laps we were able to look at some cars in the garage that were being prepared for a race the next day. The tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. The tour costs $15 and was well worth the value. The tour took me about an hour (with a tour group size of 4) but it can go up to two hours with a larger tour group size since everyone has to have their two laps around the track. Walk-ins are available but I'd recommend calling in advance to reserve your spot. read more

Called before coming up and was told we can bring in bag less than 18 inch and water and snacks. We brought a soft sided bag with bottle water and some pretzels and was told no it is not allowed at the gate!!! We also had to pay $25 plus tax to park when our tickets and web said it included free parking. Not enough food options and when it is 100+ degrees out bottle water should be allowed. Don't think we will visit again, we will drive a little farther and go someplace else. read more

It seems like most of the people that are unhappy went to whatever Christmas lights event that they have here at Texas Motor Speedway. I went to the NASCAR playoff series here, and it was amazing. The staff that I encountered at the concessions, to get into the place, and parking were absolutely fantastic and very welcoming. The venue is absolutely massive and it was very easy to get a seat with fantastic viewing. The traffic to park was a bit busy, but what do you expect at a busy sports event?! It was great sitting in the south west area in section 114 row 32 because we were in the shade by 2pm. My son and I had an absolute blast here and I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to watch people race cars. Only thing I'd highly suggest is that you bring (or buy) hearing protection as it was ~105 decibels during the races...basically you're gonna be deaf eventually noise. read more

This review is for the Christmas lights only. This is my first time to see the lights. We went on a Friday night in early December. The line wasn't as bad as I expected, but it's still a line! Because of COVID-19, there is less this year, thus the cheaper price. Since I'm a newbie, I'm guessing way less, cause other years went down in the infield, which we didn't. There was a short drive up to the stands, and then a long drive under the stands. The lights were good, cause I LOVE Christmas lights! But it just wasn't what I was expecting. When COVID is finally over, I bet it will WOW me! Should you go? Absolutely! Anything to see Christmas lights! And don't forget, turn left! read more

I took my girl here for a Nascar Experience. It was great. Easy to find but limited parking. The Texas Motorway is very huge with plenty of seating and indoor suites as well. I wouldn't say I'm a NASCAR fanatic but I am definitely into fast cars. My first ride at 16 was a '67 Mustang Coupe. My dad and I rebuilt with a 289 engine, chromed out valve covers, duel exhaust, 4 barrel holley carburetor .... oh my God don't even get me started! So about the speedway... The speedway is nice but damn, Getting in and out of here is worse than a labyrinth. Especially post race.! More orange cones than Cars Land sheesh! The track and stands are great and the food was pretty standard. Hot dogs, corn dogs, nachos, burgers, beer etc. we shared a corndog and a few cold ones ... A Okay. Everything was nice, clean and workers were friendly. I think a solid 3 star enjoyably funtastic time. read more

Friday Night Drags review! We went last night for Friday Night Drags and it was a lot of fun and super easy and low cost. For $55 we had three adults and three kids. Once inside there was lots of booths and advertisers with give aways and games. There was also cheap treats and $1 beers which was fun. From there we wandered to the infield where there was a huge car show with lots of old and different cars to check out. The races: There are lots of flights with various people racing. All types of people show up to race each other, they are then placed into categories like smaller cars, pickup trucks, supped up engines, and they even had an AWD vehicle category. Some of the vehicle are just normal cars, some have been tricked out and best of all are some real hot rods that fly down the track. Races run late, usually going past 11:00, but you'll be entertained. read more

Finally got a chance to get over to see the Gift of Lights and what a great, beautiful display!

This review is for the Gift of Lights held at Texas Motor Speedway. Advertised as the largest drive thru light park, the entire length was 1.5 miles of light displays. We arrived around 9pm and spent 30 minutes in bumper-to-bumper traffic before reaching the pay station, in which we paid an arm and a leg - $25 per vehicle to enter. I bit my lip, knowing that a portion of the money will go towards charity. It would have been great if they told us what percentage on the website. Who knows if stating a "large portion" could mean 1% in their world? Moving on, I like the convenience of sitting in the car to avoid the cold, rainy weather and opportunity to take my cute furry buddy along. I was waiting for that awestruck moment, but most of the displays were stationary. No animated exhibits. No Christmas music playing in the background. There was the option to play holiday music in the car. The only live moving entity was a person dressed as the Grinch swaying his bag back and forth. We drove through the concession stands, where the displays were so close in front of us that it was hard to make out what they were. We could not appreciate the beauty of the lights as the proximity allowed us to detail out all the imperfections. However, I did really enjoy the shimmering streams of lights around the tunnels; it created a cool effect when driving through. The sections were divided into themes, such as dinosaur, medieval, Grinch stole Christmas, nascar, under the sea, etc. At the end, there was the option to park and go inside Santa's Village. We took a photo with Santa - another $15 for a 5x7 photo. There was Olaf from Frozen walking around for picture op. They have the huge teddy bear that Costco sells and a white polar bear that the family and kids can pose in front of for those memorable holiday photos. We had a great experience at TMS for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 races this weekend on Sunday. We had great seats in PU122 and could see everything from the view we had. The only con I have is traffic getting there and leaving. It took us 45 min just to park after getting off the exit. Total frustration but one parked, everything was good. Other than that, awesome time. I loved the different food & drink options available as well. I'd never been to a race before so it was a great first experience. Next time, we might consider getting the headphones where you can hear the commentary about the race - that's a great enhancement to the race experience. I'd definitely go back again if given the opportunity. read more

We went to the Gift of Lights this year (2019) as a family tradition the last 4 years. Spoke with a manager and It's apparently under new management and highly disappointing. Do not waste any money on this if you've been the last few years. A lot of the lights are missing and the end (PIT Area) is not even close to what it used to be. Winterland Inc is apparently the new managers. Won't go back again. read more

Took my Grandson to watch the races. It was both of our first time. Hitched a ride on a golf cart to the gate, that was nice as parking is a nightmare and the place is huge. Only complaint is only half the gates are active so we had to walk from gate 3 all the way down instead of them having the other gates open. read more

I'm posting a review today, as someone who has been going to NASCAR events at TMS since 2006. Prior to this writing, I would've given them 5 stars. Not anymore. We attended the All-Star Race on 6/13/21. Now, I've gone to events here more times than I can count, and the rules/policies have always been the same. Suddenly, with no warning, some pencil-pusher decided that coolers would no longer be permitted inside the speedway. If you've been a NASCAR fan for at least a minute, you know that being able to take your own cooler into a race is half the fun. We were forced to improvise. Thankfully, my wife had brought some one gallon Ziploc bags, and I was able to cram a few beers and some ice into one (They'll let you take in clear bags and backpacks). She did the same with her bottled water and soft drinks. NOTE: please keep in mind that this is Texas in June, and it was 120 degrees in the shade, and there was no wind. That race on 6/13/21 was my last, unless this policy is removed. To quote "Ricky The Plumber" (please look him up if you don't know who he is, he did a short video on this issue, he was out there as well, and he is on point), we buy the tickets, we spend our money out there, and that place would cease to exist if no one showed up. From this point forward, I will stay home, grill fajitas, drink beer and watch the Texas races on my big ol' TV. I'm done with TMS. I'd recommend others do the same. They need to be taught a lesson. read more

Went and saw the American Flat Track races on the half mile track. Was pretty standard. Restrooms were clean. The food places only took card which I didn't like. I can understand the kiosks out in the paddock doing that but no reason for the ones in the permanent buildings to. read more

This has to be a funny review because the review is gonna talk only about the Christmas or holiday lights show which was hosted at this location. Getting to this location is easy on the maps but reaching the counter is going to take for ever. I honestly feel the number of counters for the tickets should have been a little more than what they have. Must buy at the counter is the goggles which they sell like 2 for 5 $. That's worth the money coz of the reindeer vision it offers at the lights. The light decoration as such was just OK because most of the decorations looked clumsy. There was a small area like a meeting spot which had nothing great to offer than the pictures with Santa. I would've thought if there were some carousel rides there , it would've been awesome. In short this place is worth a try but it can be a definite miss if you were planning to hit other places like the GRAND PRAIRE lights. read more

I work around here so I get to see everything going on everyday. The speedway is well kept and very clean. The cars are fast and loud so if you like that you will love it here. If you get the opportunity to tour it while no events are taking place I think it's a pretty cool experience. read more

The parking lot is close to the entrance and the parking was free! The only negative was when it came time to leave There weren't any staff nor police to direct vehicles out of the various lots. Texas Motor Speedway is a great place to view races. Food and drinks are high and not really great. Drinks are cool at best. REI headset rental needs lots of improvement, renting and return. Drinks are to high. Entertainment is great. Bring a cushion for the seats. Truck races are fantastic. Lots of excitement at the event. Usually at night and much more comfortable than day race in the heat. Truck races are fantastic, in the evening and much cooler than daytime races. read more

Boogity Boogity Boogity cowboys, let's go racing! They say everything's just (insert advantageous adjective) in Texas. At Texas Motor Speedway, it's bigger, faster, louder, and arguably more impressive than most, in a fashion you would expect from the Lone Star. I attended my second ever NASCAR race here, outside of IMS, and I was really impressed with the track itself. We watched from the infield, which had a limited view, but we were so close to the action. Race fumes and smoking tires! The facility and grounds are very well kept, considering the age of the track. Parking was really close (easy walking distance), straight forward, and cost effective. The Pits were accessible and the Speedway Club is fantastic (if you're lucky enough to watch the race from there). Tickets seem reasonable, depending on the event, and the Upper Grandstands looks to be the prime spectating spot, giving a great view of the whole track. There weren't many food options in the infield, but it is a cooler-friendly track, so I would pack your lunch. Don't forget it's a dry county, so pack your beer too! My biggest critique is the traffic mess getting in and out of the track. It is such a horrendous mess of a traffic jam, no matter which way you have to go. I hope the highway commission can figure this out in the next couple of years, this place would be much more pleasant getting to and from. read more
