For the inconvenience, they gave me 5 bonus laps for a total of 15 to do it in Kyle TX. at the Central Texas Speedway. I had scheduled it for Sat, but it got rained out, so they let me re-schedule it on Sunday, not a problem. Finally the day came. My scheduled time was for 12 noon. Because of all the rain, they had to dry the track. The fun was supposed to start at around 8am, but didn't start til around 11:30am. We got there around 10:30am and had to wait till around 4:00pm when it was my groups turn. We didn't mind the waiting, it was a beautiful day. I also did the ride along. Having a real driver take you around the track like it should be done was COOL!! He ran it to win I thought. Then it was my turn at the wheel. There was 4 of us on the track at the same time. 2 people only purchased 10 laps, and I had 15 and the 4th had 20 laps. Plus the ride along cars came out on to the track also. What made this a NEAT experience was, we had an ear pad type speaker in the helmet. So, a spotter was constantly telling every driver how they were doing, or if they needed to move down and let the other car pass. The only time I had to move down was when the ride along cars were coming thru. I lapped the field, THAT WAS WAY COOL!!!, not that we were racing, but it made it fun!!! Larry and his crew did the best they could do because of the weather. His crew was very polite and answered any question you asked. Larry's safety class was great for the first time racer too. He goes over the basics well, and he also makes sure you know what you need to know. All-in-ALL I would rate the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience a 10 out of 10!! I bought the video too. You meet at the Speedway,…read moresign away some forms, attend an informative and just the right length drivers briefing, get a helmet and jump suit and tear around the track in an original detuned stock car. Couple of points, it's not a Disney ride and requires a degree of concentration and attention to details to avoid being a clown. Cars are manual and remarkably easy to drive and quite fast. The track has quite a lot of traffic but the spotter talking into your ear is a pro - listen for your number and follow the clear directions. Staff are attentive and friendly but not there to babysit. Pro tips - get ten laps minimum- you are already there and it takes 3-4 laps to feel the car out. Pro tip two - first time out get the insurance- it's cheap and gives you one less thing to think about.

The young man working the register was polite and took the safety briefing very seriously. He's the type of guy you want at the register dealing with clueless customers such as myself. The young men running the track were great. They were polite and accommodating. They helped my short daughter get set up correctly. They made sure we were set and just laid back, nice guys. Was it pricey, 15 laps for $450, but our group had a ton of fun. The track is a bit worn down and could use some maintenance along with the cars themselves. The cars were inconsistent. I had three different cars; each one felt different. My last car drifted a lot, despite driving it about the same as the other cars. Their helmets were old and could use an upgrade. I'm glad I wore my sunglasses and kept the visor up to see more clearly.
