Yes we got our change back. Have not been to Quick Trip since. Will not patronize them again if we can help it.

What-A-Burger No 15 - Onion rings and what-a-cheeseburger with bacon

I was very confused and then intrigued to discover What-a-burger has been around for over 50 years, and is in no way affiliated with the well known Texas chain. It appears that there once were at least 15 given the fact that this particular restaurant is labeled as number 15, however there now appears to be only a few remaining in some of the satellite cities of Charlotte like Concord and Gastonia. These charming restaurants are like stepping into a Time Machine back to the days of 50s drive in fast food diners. I finally got the opportunity to come in for lunch. They have counter service and several small tables and booths to sit and enjoy your meal. I opted for a burger and a hot dog all the way so I could try it like they usually serve. The burger was delicious! I a nice crisp smash patty on a soft bun, very juicy. The hotdog was very good although I think next time I would get it without the slaw. I topped it all off with a cup of cheer wine that the sweet lady behind the counter was kind enough to top off for free after coming by the table and noticing I had finished mine. I love that small town friendly service and this place just radiates with it. I'm not sure what the future holds now that the Texas chain is encroaching on Charlotte. I'd love to see a world where both can exist. The Texas chain may seem new, shiny, and enticing, but I hope locals don't forget this hidden gem tucked right into the community.

Got the "super C" and was not disappointed, burger patties were seared perfectly fresh with that nice griddle crisp, yet still juicy. Cheese was that beautiful ooey gooey American cheese (yes cheese snobs, American cheese has its place). Fries were crinkle cut, fresh, and crispy. Some don't like crinkle cut but they offer the best surface area for crispyness. Other toppings were fresh as well and the cherry lemon sundrop was the perfect cut for the rich cheesy beef. Looked very clean inside as well. 5/5

The quality of food has always been the draw and consistency but more recently they changed the style of french fries and they are just not as good. My kids used to ask to go there just for orders of their fries but not anymore. Then I have been getting the chicken salad for decades but now something has changed the entire flavor. It seems more wet and less chicken but most of all the strongest taste is of celery when it use to be the unique chicken flavor that you got.The only reason I visit now is for the potato wedges and onion rings while they are still the same and of course the cherry lemon Sundrop. It's sad to see the consistency change and one of your local staples change so much that you don't visit like you use to.

I felt like having a burger and fries. Johnny Roger's was the choice. I had the Wagyu smash burger with fries. Price was a little steep, but what the heck. After a short wait, the order disc started vibrating. The burger and fries were good. My burger had two patties with a slice of cheese on each one. I did like that. The bun was good, it held up while I was enjoying my meal. The patties were very thin, but tasty and enjoyable. The fries were pretty good. I didn't get any seasoning that I could tell, but that's ok. Gibson Mill Market food court is actually pretty good place to hang out it seems. Who doesn't enjoy a burger and a beer (High Branch and Cabbarrus breweries are on site). It seems like a great place with plenty of things to see and partake in. It has a great vibe for sure. We would probably visit here again when everything is open. I would eat another burger here honestly.

I waited 40 minutes for a bbq sandwich, "French dip" cheesesteak, and Mac and cheese... If an order at quick service is going to take that long it'd probably be best to stop taking orders at a certain point, I had somewhere I needed to be. Once the food did come out my French dip cheeseteak was cold to the touch... wasn't even under a heat lamp, the cheese and meat looked sad. And so was I. Oh and the Mac and cheese was an extremely small portion, last time we came it was served in a large container, it was about $4..
