OKAY Quik Print! I was WRONG! I admit it! I have always been a self-printing designer, thinking (incorrectly) that it would be cheaper, easier, and more rewarding to print myself. Recently I decided to try out the professionals and see what the difference was, and I do not have enough nice things to say about Quik Print! The whole experience was easy from start to finish. As an EXPERT lazy-person, I thoroughly enjoyed the ability to both request an estimate and place an order online on the quik print website. I was expecting some automated response, but instead my estimate request was answered by a REAL person within a day or so! So, I took those kudos points and submitted my order. These guys were quite professional, sending me an email to clarify my order and make sure everything was going to print perfectly. You cannot beat these guys on large-scale printing. I asked them to print an 18x24 poster-sized image, and when I arrived to pick it up, it was PRISTINE! Rich, dark blacks, and not a single line of what I call ink-sanity. You know, where a laser or inkjet printer will sometimes go temporarily insane and botch a line of pixels. Everything was even and beautiful, and the colours really popped! My self-printing did not hold a candle to these guys...especially for a mere $25 bucks! Unlike places like FedEx Office and the like where you find people listlessly grazing around the machines with hunched shoulders and a thoroughly bored look, the folks at Quik Print were...well...quick! They were all dressed professionally, they were friendly to me AND their colleagues, and all seemed to work well together. And if you think that doesn't matter, think again. The last thing you want is someone botching your print job because they suck at intra-office communication. My only nit-pick would be wishing they were open longer or on weekends, but...quality cannot be rushed, right? And maybe their employees are happier and therefore more friendly with weekends off! I am impressed with Quik Print, and urge all you self-printers to really try the professionals. read more

I'm a design student who, like the procrastinating bum that I am, waited for the exact week before my exhibition opened to get some books printed. Luckily for me, Leah at this location was so incredibly kind, helpful, and patient! She steered me away from a binding setup that would have cost me $100+ (perfect binding) and showed me a different kind (some heat-drying tape binding on the side?) that turned out even better looking--I liked the color detail on the side, and their ink was thicker, and richer--and she even found a tape color that matched my exact spot color. When the first binding messed up, she reprinted my book, cut it down, helped me choose and make a beautiful cover (recommending, with very good taste, a really gorgeous speckle tone card stock that matched my book design), and bound it--all without charging me extra. She also patiently helped me through several mistake prints of an essay that I could *not* for the life of me order the pages in correctly, helping me until I got it right. Again, no extra charges, even though I'm sure I wasted several hours of her day being completely frazzled. FINALLY, when I forgot my wallet, she was compassionate and let me take the prints and call in my card number from home. I really could not ask for better service. read more

Came here after searching yelp for a print shop. And after calling a few other places, Quik Print had the lowest price (10¢ per page + $5 setup fee) for converting a 90 page hard copy to PDF format. They only charge the $5 fee for PDF conversions, otherwise it's 9¢ per page for regular copies. I took a blank CD and had them copy the file to it. Although I was hoping I would get an editable PDF, I believe there are ways to do that online. But still, for a small fee, I don't have to carry a book around.. just my iPad :) read more

I needed something printed for an anniversary gift. I first took it to Office Max. BIG MISTAKE... Let me preface this by saying that I am a total type A personality. When Office Max printed it their cardstock wasn't much heavier than regular paper. I also asked them to cute the paper into fourths. Shouldn't be too hard right? Wrong-the cards were all different sizes. Not gonna work for me. Luckily-Quick Print was my knight in shining armor. When I walked in-there were super cute and helpful girls that were busy at work. When I said cardstock-they said, "What kind?". YAY!!!! This was the place to be! They were able to quickly print and accurately cute the paper. I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. Went here for my wedding invitations - and it was one of the best decisions I made in my wedding planning process. As a non-graphic designer but someone who loves stationary, MS powerpoint, word design and gift wrap, it was important to me to design my own wedding invitations. That said I needed help - as I dont know how to use Adobe or any traditional graphic interface program. Enter Hugh, the (interim?) manager at the Research Quik Prints. Even though I live on the other side of Austin I drove to this location based on the yelp reviews and I am so glad I did. Hugh took my ideas and images and transformed them into the wedding invitation of my imagination - the end result was perfect! He was beyond patient with my bridezilla tendencies (changing things back and forth, back and forth, printing samples on all the paper options I could find, and even let me in the back area to sit at their computer and try out different fonts.) Needless to say I probably saved a couple hundred dollars coming here vs a wedding stationary store - and I had an invitation that was custom designed rather than "fill in the blank". Took three 30+ year old cookbooks by my great-grandmother in to copy. The aged books are fragile and could be easily torn. Just got my holiday cards printed here and I have to give these guys 5 stars. The print quality was the best one can expect from digital printing, and the turnaround time in less then 24 hours. But the reason I'm writing the review is the fact that they took the time to trim my improperly-sized cards (my fault) to fit them in the envelopes.
