The worst "Champ" sandwich ever
Jackie C.

Easily the worst Quick Chek ever. This is how my Champ sandwich was delivered. I gave them another shot after last week's 3 slimy pieces of grilled chicken on what was supposed to be a 12" chicken salad sub. During the day, they're okay, but late night orders seem to be horrifyingly bad.

What do you need at midnight when all of the stores are closed? I bet you'll find it at QC. Ok be reasonable with that question, everything can't be found here it's not Target but anything that you might find in a convenience store. Last minute needs of almond milk, eggs, windex, at least 10 varieties of coffee, made to order hot sandwiches, precut mango, strawberries and Gouda cheese. I could keep going but let's just go with QC is great to pull in off of Valley Road. The cashiers are friendly and don't mind you being nice as well. It's always clean here and well stocked. If you have the munchies or late night craving, you have to try the Herr's honey bbq chips. Love.

This is a pretty standard QC. It is a newer one. I've seen the parking lot pretty packed, but today there is plenty of easy parking. Easy to find, right next door to Naunas.

Just when you feel like you've seen one-too-many mansions in Upper Montclair, Quick Chek will put a quick check on that impression.

Such a great sandwich shop! Had a couple sandwiches so far and both were tour traditional Italian…read moresubs. The Godfather was spot on and then had the #13 chicken cutlet with fresh mozz which they make themselves and then bruschetta and arugula! Spot on with the vinegar and great bread too. The service was also very friendly! Family run

Sometimes I just really need a sub, and then I remember the deli that I like on Bloomfield Ave has…read moreno parking and I don't feel like making the trek. But not anymore! Because I found this little gem, not even 5 minutes away from me. And they have a PARKING LOT. And they nailed it. I got a Turkey, salami & provolone with lettuce (they use romaine) and tomato - it was awesome and very filling. My friend got a hot chicken cutlet sub with fresh mozz and it was YUM. I was a little jealous, although you can't really compare a Turkey sandwich to that. We also split some sausage, peppers & onions which we both agreed was fire. They have a nice variety of chips and drinks, prepared deli foods, and they're stocked with some imported Italian products like pastas, cookies, sodas etc. And to top it all off, the employees were very attentive, kind & fast! Turns out they opened up in November of 2020 but I would have never known. They'll keep getting my business, and I hope they get a little more recognition because they definitely deserve it. Plus I like having a good deli around the corner from me so please check this place out and support them so they stay lol

Pastrami Grill Bistro

Absolutely lives up to the hype!…read more The pastrami is insanely tender like melt in your mouth kind of good. The sandwich is definitely messy, but that's how you know it's done right when its packed and stacked with meat! Even with a line out the door, the guys behind the counter cutting the meat are friendly and keep things moving. They even hand out samples while you wait, which makes the whole experience feel welcoming (and honestly makes the wait easier).

Update: I've finally tried the pastrami. The sandwiches are huge. We got the pastrami cheese…read morefries, and a corned beef reuben. The pastrami is really good and is very tender. The fries are steak fries, which I don't typically love but it worked well as a vehicle for the pastrami. The corned beef is a bit dry. We had some pierogies but these were superrrr oily. We also ordered a matzoh ball soup because I've never had it before. But the second I saw them microwave it in a plastic container, I knew I had made a mistake. It was basically just a matzoh ball in very salty chicken bouillon water. I'm sad that was my first matzoh ball soup experience but am not deterred from finding a real one elsewhere. Based on my previous visit and this one, it seems like you should just stick to a classic pastrami sandwich. It's big enough to share between two people. Next time, I'd like to dine in and eat it fresh. The sandwiches also come with a bunch of pickles, which was nice. Tip #1 - there is a parking lot but because there are so many stores and it's next to Bratek Deli, it's a nightmare. It did also happen to be Good Friday, so maybe that made it worse? I don't remember it being that bad the first time around. Tip #2 - I called ahead to place my order but still had to wait 15 minutes extra after the quoted time. They prioritize walk-in customers, so you might as well just order in store.
