This is a horrible store. Aside from the extortionate prices, the staff are consistently unhelpful and rude. The manager LIED to me about their lottery options. What kind of storekeeper with half a brain would lie about the state lotto? They are ignorant of laws. One of the cashiers has consistently been rude to me, mocking me and other customers. All I did was come to the register and she started making fun of my voice and how I pronounce words. By the way, I am a native English speaker, descended from native English speakers. I don't know why they are so mean to their customers. I tried to think about whether I had said something that could have accidentally been interpreted as insulting, but I didn't. I've never been treated like that by someone trying to take my money. And the next time I came back, she was rude again, to me and another customer. She really doesn't speak English, but I could tell that she knew full well what she was doing and say. She intended to be hurtful to customers. The prices here are OUTRAGEOUS esp on non-perishables! They used to have good prices on meat but that is no longer the case. The quality of their produce also used to be better than the national chains, but now they have low quality products that go bad quickly. The fluctuations in their prices is also infuriating because I can't depend on them for a budget. I can no longer depend on them just because they are conveniently located near me. I was really looking forward to having a seafood pasta for Christmas so I headed up to Super fresh. I arrived around 9pm and walked to the back where the seafood is. I was sad to see all of the fish put away and the worker cleaning up but i figured I'd try anyway. I asked him if I could get some salmon and scallops. He said ok. I said great, I'll take a pound of scallops. Remember I said he was cleaning. There were visible soap/chemical suds on his gloves. He goes to the back and brings out a silver container of scallops, digs his all purposer cleaner/soapy gloved hand into the container of scallops and grabs me the pound of scallops that I asked for. The gentleman didn't speak English y estoy apprendiendo pero no se muchas palabras in this context. I told him nevermind because your hands are dirty and you just touched all on my food. He said ok, ok and returned the scallops back to the original bin they were in. I'll never go here again for seafood. Ever. read more

I am very happy to see that a new store went into the former A&P location on Belleville Avenue here in Bloomfield. Key Food acquired the "SuperFresh" brand and name from A&P in bankruptcy, and reports say that they will use it for new and existing stores in primarily larger suburban locations. The Bloomfield location just opened yesterday, May 6th. The store has been remodeled since its days as an A&P. Although this store is considerably smaller than the nearby Stop & Shop, it carries a considerable variety of products, especially in the fresh and frozen produce sections. For example, in the fresh produce section, they had Asian long beans, lemongrass (which looked much fresher than what they have at Whole Foods, BTW), chayote, tamarind, etc. In the frozen section, they had a variety of fruit you could desire including lucuma. It is great if you want to make homemade ice cream or smoothies. The fresh fish section also had lots of beautiful options - salmon, several varieties of clams, shrimp, cockles, squid, cod, etc. There were several stations throughout the store where they were giving out samples of crackers, cheese, and beverages. The store staff greeted people warmly and helpful. It is well staffed but they did appear to be low on carts but they did have the small pullcart/basket. Prices are fantastic and everything is very well marked (again, especially in the produce section.) SuperFresh accepts manufacturers coupons but there are no store coupons at this time. No double coupons. SuperFresh has a store club card and will also accept previously issued Key Food club cards. Signage is very clear and aisles are wide. The store is very clean and well organized. Hopefully it stays that way. This is a good addition to the shopping center on Belleville Avenue, which looks like is finally undergoing a much needed overhaul. read more

I'm a bit torn on this one. On one hand, they have a huge selection of more international products. It's stuff you want find at other grocery stores, so it's almost like one giant specialty store. The sold live crabs in a bucket! On the other hand, they were lacking on other common items either in stock or in price. There wasn't a sale on soda, the popcorn brand I like only had one flavor, they didn't many frozen dinner or frozen vegetables, and they didn't have all the milk types in every size (no small size whole milk). They had some exotic flavors of ice cream, but it was all pretty expensive comparatively. At the deli counter, they didn't have Italian roast beef, but the guy gave us a sample of chicken wings and they were awesome so we bought a dozen. They have a rotisserie chicken area and sell pre made sushi (not sure how good it is but they do have it). They had a bunch of cashiers open so there was practically no wait. I'm not sure in the A&P days if there were more cart returns, but now there's only like 1 or 2 and you know people are lazy and will just leave the carts in the way which is why Stop N Shop and Shop Rite have them all over the place. Cars beware! So there were things I really like and things I really didn't, so it was average. It was nice and clean and well organized and I could see people who do more exotic cooking digging this place, but for more standard items, you'll find better prices and selection elsewhere, so keep that in mind. read more

This one has had a "broken" card scanner so your store card doesn't work...so you cannot add up to the $300 for the Turkey unless you spend it all at once. Shady. Go to the one in Belleville...not only is it double the size, the produce manager brings in better quality produce, and has a liquor store for your convenience, but at $150 you had your choice of a small Turkey or a pork shoulder this year (2022) when prices are high enough. read more

Your average urban supermarket, but with bright lights and no undercast of smell wafting thru the air. I grew up in NYC so I recognize a Key Food, C-town anywhere anyhow. I stopped by this store because I have ordered from their Irvington location through Instacart. I always got great deals on the food from meats to household items. It is obvious that the prices vary by store. This one did not have the same sales as the Instacart location. When you walk in it is bright and expansive. There are multiple rows of food, and the shelves are packed to the brim which is good. They should cover the olives in the olive station, though it was a nice surprise that they had one. All in all I may return if passing by, but I wont make the trip. I guess Im a supermarket snob - Whole Foods, Trader Joes and Fairway have me spoiled but Super Fresh prices cant be beat. read more

I had my doubts about this place. The name and sign outside are kinda confusing. Super Food World Fresh? Ok...it's Super Fresh Food World...I get it, but the logo looks like it was designed by my toddler. It's just not professional-looking. So my expectations were low about the store. But the store blew away my expectations. That have taken a crusty and dusty old A&P and made it a flavorful modern market that feels like something which deserves to be in a diverse community like Bloomfield. And somehow, they did it in a smaller space and with prices that we can actually afford. The Produce department has been expanded and the selection is beyond my expectations. They have a lot of Asian and Latino specialties which I really love, all with prices that are way cheaper than Stop & Shop. The Seafood Department absolutely blows Stop & Shop away...I will most likely never be back to Stop & Shop. These guys are actual fishmongers, not teenagers who are given an hour of training. This department seems to be the signature department for Super Fresh. It is huge and the manager is very knowledgeable. He gave me a recipe and told me exactly how to prepare and cook the fish. Really professional. Overall, it has exceeded my expectations in all ways: selection, freshness, professionalism...and most surprisingly, PRICE! These guys are only slightly pricier than ShopRite, and the specials are amazing! You can tell by how busy the place is that it is a success. I am so happy these guys landed in Bloomfield! read more

While they have a vast selection, the apples are outdated, the nuts are stale, the oranges are bitter and I will never buy produce there again .....But the fish Dept is great and they have a great variety of packaged and frozen foods from all over the world. We just moved to the area and I'm used to having grocery stores within walking distance of our place. This spot is about a 10 minute drive, so adjusting to suburban living was already in my face. This grocery store isnt the largest, and the produce won't last in your fridge for a full week, but it gets the job done. It's clean, the people are pretty friendly that work here, and I swear I rarely ever see more than a handful of people in here most days. the price is a bit more expensive than other places, and there's not a huge selection of things (e.g. you wont find 6 brands of 14 different size cans of black beans). The shopping carts have little brakes on them (so while you look ridiculous the first few times trying to make the stupid thing move, they are a wonderful convenience to insure the cart doesnt knock your car on your way out). They also validate the parking lot charge, so you don't have to pay the $1/hr fee. read more

We have been living in this area for so long and by far, the best market e ever had! It has most of the products I look for, it has lot of Hispanic foods and brands so it easier for me to find what I need. When I go here it's for a quick stop for something. It has a self checkout which I enjoy, I don't like meeting lots of people so having a self checkout is great! The layout is a little confusing -- you'll find spices and grains in at least three different places, across different international sections. Helpful and friendly employees. I hate to say this but i am seeing some noticeable changes, not for the better. Most of the meat prices have increased substantially. As for the produce, not enough care is being given to weed out the spoiled product, i undersyand thats its produce and there is always a bad apple in the bunch, but more care need to be given to that job. I'm not sure how people can actually consume the stuff they purchase here. My first time shopping here (during their grand opening) I found mold on more than one container of strawberries. I was immediately put off since you would think a store would want to show their freshest produce on their first day open. So I gave it a few more months and begrudgingly visited again. This time I found mold on multiple containers of shredded Parmesan cheese as well as the fresh pasta selections that were drastically discounted. It's almost as if they knew they were a breeding ground for mold and tried one more time to get it off their shelves. Aside from that music blasts way too loud,their sales are nothing special and they lack basic quality control. The old A&P that used to occupy this building was dilapidated and uninviting. There's a reason why that store did not survive. I'm not even considering the bankruptcy that the company was undergoing. I'm simply pointing to the fact that the previous store lacked customers. Well I can tell you that this Super Fresh that has replaced it is a breath of fresh air. I mean this figuratively and literally. Figuratively because this area in Bloomfield needs a super market for the residents nearby. The closest ones are Stop and Shop and Shoprite but both are on opposite sides of town. This Super Fresh is a welcome addition indeed. I am so impressed with what they have done to the place. Granted it's only the second day it's open but everything is so beautifully arranged and the produce all look and smell good. It's a far cry from the unappealing fruits that the previous store had. As if to put a cherry on top of it all, this Super Fresh sells Filipino ice cream as well as Japanese mochi ice cream. I bought ube flavored and mango flavored ice cream. I also picked up some red bean ice cream to complete my gluttony. Having access to this essentials is heaven sent. I am beyond ecstatic that this supermarket has opened up. Store can be a little difficult to navigate as the products are all over the place. Some items are extremely low priced while other well-known items are scarce and overpriced. The biggest downfall about this supermarket is that they NEVER and I mean NEVER have what's in their weekly circular...I went several times for specific items with no avail SMH!!! Maybe they should adhere to what's in their circular as this can be a deal breaker for some shoppers. So if you want to take your chances...good luck lol read more

My husband and I recently discovered Superfresh Food World in Belleville. Since it is new, it's clean and has more than enough spaces in between aisles and we loved their seafood department. The fishmongers were friendly and helpful though there is a language barrier. Most of the staff are pleasant and provide good guidance. Been shopping here for a little over a month now and am pleased to say that they have been performing solidly since they opened. I love the layout and the fact that it is has more of an ethnic flair which is preferable for this city boy. The produce can be hit or miss as far as pricing, so use your discretion. Some fruits and veggies are cheap and some can be unusually high, but then the next week the pricing sort of rotates. The fish market has been inspiring with a great selection that is well cared for and at least one or two choices every week that are too cheap to pass up. I have sampled the beef, pork, and chicken, and can tell you that they are of respectable quality and also have some very fair pricing. Another unexpected bonus with this market is that they have a nice sushi counter and after 5pm all remaining sushi in the display case is 30% off! Nice rolls usually to choose from, and I haven't seen that deal offered in any other market. After you are done shopping you will look forward to the quick check out which anyone who has had the pleasure of shopping at the old A&P knows how painfully slow it used to be. At first I was worried that Superfresh Food World was not going to be long for this world due to low attendance at the outset, but every time I go back I see more and more happy customers. I was in the store on September 12,2016. I picked up one piece of breadfruit which the price was labeled at $1.99 per piece. When I went to the cashier , I was told that it was for $1.99 per lb. I told the caucasian lady who was training a new cashier that it was $1.99 each . She said it was not. So I asked her if they can change the pricing because it was very confusing and misleading to the consumers and she just looked at me and did not even checked if I was right. I went back inside and took a picture of the price that was shown with the item went back to this lady and showed it to her. In my way to the customer service there was a another employee who asked if i can show her the picture. I showed it to her and even went with her to show the item. I asked her that they should change the tag price so consumers will not be MISLEAD!!!!
