The worst check cashing store I ever used.. I heve been using check cashing stores for years. I…read morejust recently moved to Benicia two months ago. I get paid weekly and live across the street. I work in union construction, and for multi-million dollar companies that have never bounced a check in my 10 years in the trades. The first two times I have tried to cash my payroll check there there "system was down" the next "they weren't cashing checks at the time". I have been driving all the way to Vallejo to a California check cashing and have had no problems, up until last week I gave it a shot and by golly they DID IT! Signed me up an account and was relieved I didn't have to drive into the next town after a 10hr brutal day in the hot sun.... but then after waiting 15 mins for them to verify my check the very next week she told me "the person verifying checks told me not to cash it." She couldn't give me a reason why and the corporate office was closed by the time I called. And was advised to call back after 10am tomorrow and before they close at 5pm, in which I will be working.. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone who doesn't have time to waste, time that I could be at home with my wife and 5yr old daughter.

I parked improperly (I admit) in a Cash 1 parking space at their location at 1551 Civic in Walnut…read moreCreek (when I went to a restaurant served by the same parking area), and Cash 1 had my car towed after 30 minutes. Cost me $215 to get my car back. I found out that there is a "one-hour rule"-- it is prohibited by CA Vechicle Code section 22953 to tow in less than one hour for this type of parking violation. This is to prevent people from being stranded and create dangerous situations for people when other remedies such as ticketing are available. Cash 1 said they did not know of this law. I called North Main Towing and they also told me there was no such thing as the one hour rule (until I called them back with the vehicle code section). Cash 1 is liable for twice my towing costs-- they owe me $430 for violating this law. I commented to North Main Tow that they must be towing everyday from Cash 1 since it is a very busy parking area, and they did not disagree with this-- said that "we do tow there regularly". I want people to know about this law so they can get their money back from Cash 1 (plus penalty) if they were towed illegally. North Main Towing (925-933-7670) has the towing authorization record which includes the time the vehicle was first observed on the property and the time authorized. The difference between these two times must be greater than 60 minutes or Cash 1 was in violation of the law. You may have to take Cash 1 to small claims court to get your money back.
