After Quest' phlebotomist took my blood, this happened - significant bruising and lots of pain.
David M.

Automated phone line (206-381-0557), option 6 doesn't work! So there's no way to talk to a real person. Also, can't get results to my physician! Trying to contact someone but no help! Online contacts are useless. Sent email via website and no response back about how to send results to my physician. My physician doesn't support Quests method (EHR) to share data, so how do I get it to them? My physician sent a request to get results but no response from Quest! Anyone from Quest, if you're out there listening, please tell me! One more thing. Your phlebotomist bruised my arm significantly. Two weeks after my blood drawn, my arm still hurts and it's bruised!

This place sucks. Understaffed and appointments seem irrelevant. Plan on wasting a morning.

It's a shocking fact about me that, unlike most people, I am not a huge fan of medical procedures…read more I know! Take a moment to absorb that information. But sometimes I find myself having to get poked or prodded, for instance, this trip to LabCorp for blood work. And while it's not something I want to put on my calendar every day, I have to say this experience was about 1,000x better than it might have been, so woohoo for that. First, I love that you can just make an appointment online -- super, super easy. I actually got on the computer at 10 and made an appointment for 1 p.m. same day. Second, if you're in West Seattle (or close by) it's really easy to get to. There's parking on the street and inside, and it's a small place in a quiet neighborhood, so much less hassle than trekking to First Hill if you don't have to. Third, I walked right in and was next; no waiting. In fact, I learned when I got there that I didn't even need an appointment -- apparently it's not a long-lines-of-people kind of thing to get blood drawn, so that was good to know just in case. (I am a nervous type and like making appointments.) The surroundings were honestly just so-so; there's a main lobby that's nice, but I was in the lab lobby, which feels more like a waiting nook at an old hospital, but it's fine. The room where the blood was drawn was a little small, and another guy came in to have his done while we were wrapping up my procedure, and that was just a little weird -- I am by far not the worst person about having to give blood, but I don't particularly want to watch someone else's pool up into a vial or bag, either. But the best part was Kristy who checked me in and drew my blood. She was funny, chatty, supportive ("You can grab my arm if you need to,") and kept me laughing as we talked about terrible self-published ebooks. Most importantly, she got that needle in so easily I honestly barely even felt it -- I actually had to check to see if she'd gotten started. And it was over quickly. So high-fives for this office all around!

I was apprehensive about going to Lapcorp because the reviews weren't so great. I also got extremely light headed after they 3rd poke (don't know if it was the heat or my reaction to getting a needle inserted multiple times with no result). They sent me to Lapcorp, and the lady was done drawing my blood in less than 1 minute. I went early in the morning and there was no wait.. thank you Lapcorp!

I went for a blood test yesterday at around 3:40 PM and it was a great experience. I overheard the…read morestaff telling another patient that they generally don't have more drop-in times after 3:45 PM so I'm glad I got there when I did. My phlebotomist was very kind and caring. I let her know that I have a tendency to faint and needed to lie back. She put me in their version of a lounge chair. She even aimed a little fan at me and gave me a cold pack to put on my chest. Her blood draw was smooth and hardly hurt at all. She was excellent. I wish I remembered her name but it started with a T and she wore red scrubs. It was one of my best blood draw experiences! Thank you so much, T, and thanks to all the staff at the Bastyr Labcorp.

I figured they were probably better than me trying to do it myself. I made an appointment online (same day). Tip: When I tried to book originally, it was three weeks out, but if you look in the morning, there'll be open appointments because people cancel. When I arrived there were a handful of people there, a few walk-ins (I heard them talking). Labcorp staff were moving folks through - fast, friendly, professional. For the actual act, they were supportive and positive (I'm hard to get blood from) and only had to poke me twice. A++ Here's what's making me get on for this review, though. The person checking folks in (Cy? Si?) asked me, "Did you bring a lab slip?" which I had walked out and forgotten on the printer. Instead of me bein' all sad and needing to go home and make another appointment (after fasting until 1:30pm) she said, "Is it in your email? You can just email it to me and I'll print it for you." Whaaaaaaat?! Mind blown! Super service! Thank you!

In…read moreother words, if you're unhappy when you call, they very smartly make unfortunate comments to convince you it's not worth your time or emotional energy. Today Debbie M. would talk over me and go on long monologues... then complain that I wasn't letting her talk. I said "okay, stop, you've answered my question." After which she started a new lecture on how I wasn't letting her talk. My issue was I didn't use the services as I cancelled my appointment and asked for a refund. (NO WAY! I was told I'd signed up for a membership.) I told her I believed I had signed up for services and not a membership but was willing to listen to the recorded call when I'd originally moved forward w payment. This was not acceptable as their policy was not to give a refund after charging one month prior. Instead of a refund, I would pay $197 to not have to deal with Life Wise customer support again. The nurses are actually very good. However, they sold me an add-on for $99 that basically resulted in recommendations instead of data. I made the mistake of telling Debbie M that fact which sent her into a diatribe of telling me what I'd received and how I should have seen the benefits. IF you use them, 1. sign up on line, 2. Never call customer service or talk w the person at the desk when you arrive. 3. Engage and talking w the nursing staff is fine.

THE ULTRA SOUND OF SILENT KILLERS I have been going to…read moreLifeline Screening (LLS) for years after I receive their annual mailer telling me that they're coming to town. They hold their annual screening sessions in various different public venues every year. This year, I went to Unity Church in Bellevue to do only the 4 tests promoted in this year's mailer for $149. They also have other tests that they will try to upsell you to, but they usually don't overdo this. The mailers give you a promo code and a phone number to call (or www.lifelinescreening.com) to set up your appointment. They also tell you when you last had certain tests and whether or not you need to have them done again this year. Their tests also include finger pricks to take blood samples, but mostly ultrasounds to test for "silent killers", blood clots, etc. Their mission is to do the kind of tests that Medicare or your health insurance will only cover once you show symptoms. By that time, it could be too late, if the first symptom is a stroke or a heart attack! GREEN = "GO", RED = "STOP", BUT YELLOW DOES NOT MEAN "GO VERY FAST." To have those same tests done at your doctor's office would cost a bit more. This is why LLS focuses only on preventative tests that could uncover potential silent killers. Only bummer is that they do not take insurance. They send you the ultrasound test results in 3 weeks, prepared in a professional pleasingly graphic format that can be easily understood by you and your doctor. Their graphic results show green if you have "no blockage"(OK), yellow if you are in the "mild blockage" (MEH) zone, and red if you are in the "severe blockage" (OMG!) zone. Oh, they will be sure to bring it to your immediate attention if you ever hit the red zone on any of their tests. INSTANT FINGERSTICK RESULTS GOT STUCK ON HOLD? Fingerstick test results have always been given to me right away in the past. But for some reason I did not get them this year. Whether they forgot, or changed their policy re: fingerstick test results, I don't know yet. Perhaps a future update will reveal this. Like the ultrasound test results, Fingerstick test results (mailed 3 weeks later) are also printed out in the green "good to go", yellow "prepare to stop" and red "STOP!" format. But instant results are simply printed out on a small piece of paper showing your results as compared on a line graph to the health standard that one should meet, but without the "traffic light effects."
