Great experience. Front desk staff Brittany, MRI tech Wyatt, and another MRI tech (whose name I…read moredidn't catch were) worked well together. I was the last appointment on a Friday afternoon and my visit included special accommodations, which unexpectedly doubled the length of my visit. I was not made to feel rushed and at every step of my exam, the technicians used language to clearly guide me through the process. They were very gracious about it and handled me very carefully, ensuring my utmost safety.

Positives: friendly front-desk staff, competent and kind technicians, reasonably easy to make…read moreappointments. Negative: outrageous billing practices. For my procedure, I was told I could either pay $200 up front and they would not bill insurance OR they would bill insurance, but if insurance did not pay then my cost would be $400. I asked if I could pay the $200 up front, have them bill insurance, and if insurance paid, they would then reimburse my $200. They refused. Their policy is to refuse to bill insurance if you pay the "discounted" cost up front. If you choose to have them bill insurance and if insurance then pays, they essentially get paid twice-- once from the patient and once from the insurance company-- and they keep both payments. Quite a system. Patient beware.

Starting with booking the appointment; Anika was a distracted listener and a poor communicator. I…read moreasked for the enhanced scan and bloodwork, she said that was what she booked me for. She never confirmed the costs. The next day when I checked the invoice from Anika I saw she booked me for the $2400 scan not the enhanced $3999 scan. I had already booked my flight and car for the specific time and date of scan. I emailed Anika with her mistake she did call back right away. However she said she would have to change the appointment.... to another day. Only when I explained that I was flying in from another state specifically for that day did she actually try to find another appointment time available on that day. But why would she have to change the time? Next, Prenuvo only uses Quest Diagnostics for lab work. Quest Diagnostics does not have any labs in Idaho. So this was another thing I had to try to figure out once I got to Seattle. I was not able to book an appointment in advance. I went first thing in the morning of Prenuvo appointment to the Quest Diagnostics lab across from the hospital in Bellevue. They don't actually take walk ins and their first appointment was about when I needed to be at Prenuvo. What made it more frustrating is that the Quest clinics are a touchscreen run facility. There is no one to talk to and their joke of a phone service directs you to their website . No human contact or interaction. So no way to resolve anything. I called Prenuvo to get some assistance in finding another option for bloodwork. At the same time I drove to another Quest clinic in Kirkland. Luckily I got right in there probably only because the regional manager for Quest Diagnostics was sitting in the check in/ waiting room when I arrived. She helped me cut through the crap on their system. However, you should know, I did not receive a call back from Stephanie at Prenuvo with any assistance from Prenuvo on getting bloodwork done until later that afternoon. Then came the MRI scan. The front office was clean enough as were the changing rooms. It was when I was walked back to the MRI room and the technicians room that the stench hit me. There is no other way to describe the odor than Indian Curry farts. Both the technicians room and even stronger in the MRI room especially when in the MRI itself. I had to lay there and breath that for an hour and 15 minutes. There was some strange crumpled up blue plastic like sheet that I had to lay on. It looked like it had been used before, many times. When the MRI was finished, I told the technician and the gal that worked the front desk about the odor and asked if they were cleaning regularly. I suggested spraying everything they could with Lysol including the air because, damn, no one should have to smell what I did for the duration of a lengthy scan. The technician feebly pulled out a container of Clorox wipes and told me he wipes everything down with them after every use . Doubtful, I couldn't get out of there fast enough and I couldn't get that stench off me. I was still smelling it after showering the next day. Now I'm waiting to see what happens with all the lab work and scan results.

I figured they were probably better than me trying to do it myself. I made an appointment online (same day). Tip: When I tried to book originally, it was three weeks out, but if you look in the morning, there'll be open appointments because people cancel. When I arrived there were a handful of people there, a few walk-ins (I heard them talking). Labcorp staff were moving folks through - fast, friendly, professional. For the actual act, they were supportive and positive (I'm hard to get blood from) and only had to poke me twice. A++ Here's what's making me get on for this review, though. The person checking folks in (Cy? Si?) asked me, "Did you bring a lab slip?" which I had walked out and forgotten on the printer. Instead of me bein' all sad and needing to go home and make another appointment (after fasting until 1:30pm) she said, "Is it in your email? You can just email it to me and I'll print it for you." Whaaaaaaat?! Mind blown! Super service! Thank you!

I let her know that I have a tendency to faint and needed to lie back. She put me in their version of a lounge chair. She even aimed a little fan at me and gave me a cold pack to put on my chest. Her blood draw was smooth and hardly hurt at all. She was excellent. I wish I remembered her name but it started with a T and she wore red scrubs. It was one of my best blood draw experiences! Thank you so much, T, and thanks to all the staff at the Bastyr Labcorp.
